Something like that. Bosa has been ethereal in his approach to rehabbing his torn up knee this time around. Ignoring social media (like we all should) and not rushing back into action like he did back in 2020. He has becomea big reader, gotten into meditation, and done things to quiet the external demands and implications of being ‘the man.’ The mental health aspect of all this is a pretty bug deal as he started last year on fire, getting a strip-sack of Sourdough Sam to seal the early win vs Seattle, and generally harassing the Rattler in the win over the Saints only to suffer a season-ending injury early in the Cards game.
He says he’ll be ready for the Rams game in Australia. Hope the rest of the team is also somewhere near healthy. If we can get through a season in relative health, I like our changes. I’m excited about this new more aggressive defense, and hopefully our offense can be more balanced. The run game was awful last year, and we still haven’t really found a backup that can gain consistency behind CMC.
This is of course predicated on the offensive line but don’t get me going on that . . .

So did I read this correctly? Giants bring up a young infielder named Buddy Kennedy. Never heard of him, but whatever. And his first appearance ever is to pitch the last inning of a blow out? And allow 4 runs? The team’s new utility infielder, let’s see what he can do… pitching, in a blow out? Good lord.
Yeah, I had no idea who this guy was. I thought he was a new pitcher the Giants brought up or signed. Only when I read the recap did I know who he was and what position he normally plays, as I didn’t watch the game tonight. Just glanced at the Gamecast occasionally.
I digress though . . . Yeah Paul, “Good Lord” is right. What a welcome to the big leagues. Not exactly what he or his parents imagined I bet.

I don’t remember him but when I saw the name I thought of Jim Maloney and he was pretty good.
Maloney in his prime was a top tier righty SP in the NL. I’d say a little below Marichal, Seaver and Gibson but right there with Jenkins, Drysdale, Perry, Bunning etc till injuries wrecked his career…

I might take a flier on Edge Rusher Clowney (still only 33 )who had 12 sacks with Dallas after missing the first 4 games as a situational rusher and has a connection with DT Osa O as well from last season together.. Better then Joey Bosa for sure in this role..

Sweat just signed a 4 year deal so we’d have to eat a lot of it, but I don’t think he would be too pricey.

Sweat is more of a 3-4 OLB type but I think we may use a lot of 3-4 under Morris but not sure. He would work out fine there.
I’d focus on the O line. I think our revamped defense will be better than the injury-riddled one last year.

I agree Kat. Using position players as pitchers in blowouts should be banned, except for very rare conditions, which I’m not even going to muse about. It cheapens the game, turns it into beer league exhibition territory. You could argue it lengthens out the time of the game, which goes against current thinking. I assume somebody could get the data on whether that is true. It’s just a bad look.
