Most notably being the signing of ex-Cal Bear safety Ashtyn Davis yesterday. A special teams standout and versatile safety/hybrid LB. Seems like a good fit for our revamped defense under Raheem Morris.
Also noteworthy is Larry Worth III, he’s another hybrid LB/safety who has impressed in camp and has signed a 3 year deal. The others are the revolving door of a 90-man roster. Sincere McCormick, Jermar jefferson, Jordan Mims, and a bunch of other guys have been released/signed/PUPed, whatevs. Here’s list.

In other news, AJ Brown got his wish to fly away fly from the Iggles and is now in New England. Now NE has a WR room full of grumbling. The Factory of Sadness has traded innumerable good players (goodbye Myles) for a boatload of picks but will they put them to any use? Or will they be the Oakland A’s of football and simply provide other teams with stars?
I don’t know, man. I just want this team to improve their line. The front office offensive philosophy seems to be running broken plays with Purdy getting his usual 1.5 seconds before all hell breaks loose and he’s on the run. And throw in a run game going nowhere as teams simply stack the line and short-circuit the runs.
I’m no GM but how fucking obvious is this? I’m not saying spend ALL your picks on the O line, but do more than day-3 fliers and UDFAs. Still need a center and guard depth.

As far as the Giants go, I’ll think about how to split this up. If possible.

My interest in the fucking Giants is waning pretty heavily as management doesn’t appear to give any fucks about the state of the team.
Buster should know a fuck-ton better than to dick around with Eldridge’s playing time, having a revolving door of turd outfielders falling out of the Sacto bus, and the whole pin the tail on the reliever thing.
Thankfully we are nowhere close to ever having a lead late in any games anymore, so there’s no need to develop a closer. But infielder (who knew?) Buddy Kennedy and his 76 MPH fastball sure looked good the other day.
Welcome to the clown-show, Buddy.
Niners should make a move for OG 330 lbs Joel Bitino a still solid 7 time Pro Bowler even in a supposed off year(Hey playing for the Browns everybody is except now former Browns Myles Garrett) he was still a force 686 offensive snaps , 1 penalty,2 sacks allowed a true leader and rates high as a pass protector (Purdy would love that) even at 34 he would be a baller at LG next to Williams and a great match in Shanny’s run schemes/throws..Wouldn’t really effect Carver, and Colby’s etc development learning more from this Veteran who’s the best FA OL men out there..
I was wondering why Cleveland would cut a potential future Hall of famer like Bitonio and why we haven’t gone after him. My guess is that he has slowed down. He’ll be playing for somebody in the Fall. BTW, he is from Univ of Nevada
Berger I think the Browns wanted to sign Bitonio but weren’t sure if he was mulling over retirement so they decided to void his current contract and their stuck now with 23.5M cap hit.. My guess he still will play like you said but only for a potential team that can help get him a ring, which won’t happen in Cleveland, so stay tuned the 49ers could be in play still,he did play everygame last year, so it shows their still tread on the tires , it’s all up to him right now..
I think Sports Channel would be better off showing Giants minor league teams play one night a week instead of ML product. then they could go with the fast track (no commercials) full Giants replay you could speed watch through in no time at all. zzz
Both 12th Man and Berger are right . . . This is unfair to the (primarily) 49er fans. Just for myself, recognizing this, I am going to do my part and not post, albeit, monitor your blog, until a solution is provided, e.g., the ONLY perfect one I see is what 12th Man proposed – split this into 2 blogs . . . or, someone from the old Flap decides to carry on with a blog for baseball Flappers. Or, Flavor “saves us all” and restarts the Flap (lqtm).
Anyway, I think it’s a nod of respect to 12th Man, Berger, Kevin, AK, etc., to respect this place as mostly a football blog.
I agree with you, Blade…
I gotta put my 2 cents in. There won’t be anything football to talk about for the next 11/2 months. And even then it will probably be injury related. Of course we should talk about additions and subtractions until then but really how long can you talk about those. Right now I am pretty sick just talking about the Giants but at the moment it’s really the only game in town. However, I have become a valkyries fan. I think the WNBA plays a great style of basketball.
Yeah they’re really cool to watch. Couple friends of mine have seasons there and place is electric. antidote to watching Giants self destruct and get overwhelmed by competition this year.
thanks to chuck for doing what he does. Much appreciated.
Chuck is much appreciated and this blog is something I do pretty much every day
I just read there is a warrant out on Aiyuk for excessive speed from last years drive past the stadium in his brand new caddy. kinda football news.
Mind blowing how long it took PD to go after him for it.
I just realized who Eldridge reminds me of: Shawn Green.
Ok, this comes with some caveats . . . I can probably set up a refugee site on Word Press and pay for the domain name, if there’s genuine interest and Chuck doesn’t come up with a solution that keeps most folks here happy. Establishing a site and being the admin is not the same as leading a discussion ala Flavor and UC. I have zero interest in a “James” blog and I suspect some of you might not be so keen on that, either :-).
I suggested before that a very simple thread structure based on the series might work, e.g., all comments for the 3 games in the current Milwaukee series would be under a single thread with a heading like Giants at Brewers, June 1-3. Pretty boring. There’d need to be at least a couple of other co-editors to share the responsibility of publishing the threads, perhaps on a scheduled rotation with some simple, agreed upon procedures for backing each other up. As long as it’s clear who’s doing what when, it’d probably be fine for editors to add some introductory text to a thread, if inspired.
WDYT?
I mean I can put a link on the top of the page, provided you guys would use it.
Instead of the Post of the Day, I can add a link to another page.
Really though, opening another wordpress site would be pretty easy. I can give all you guys edit rights and you can have at it.
Give me some time and I can work on it.
I think the ex flap guys are fine and its cool to see the post numbers are working here and they found a home. I just thought a simple solution is run 2 threads here football and baseball. We can easily police it ourselves. Not trying to make more work for you Chuck.
Flap guys I appreciate the courtesy but have at it until Chuck figures it out.
Oh joy. Bases full and heart of the order = 0.
Back to football for a second. I think the team has done a lot this off season. I would like to see a vet pass rusher but I figure they will wait to see who might fill that role thats on the roster now before spending any money.
Im not as down on the O line as I was, they have enough youngsters and vets to fill the gap at LG and have a couple of potential replacement Centers for when Brendal goes next year.
My problem is, the starters are backups at c and LG. And the backups are crap.
LA and Seattle have monster D lines.
Yeah they aren’t all world but a big difference this year is they have waaay better receivers even without part time Pearsall. That translates to quick outs, plants etc and takes the pressure off of the O line guys. Im hoping James and Black actually get meaningfull snaps as I really think CMC either lost a step or hadn’t recovered from injury.
The lack of WR had a lot to do with that too, but CMC was electric his first few steps or accelerating to get through a hole, last year I feel like whatever hole may of been there was closed by the time he got to it.
I think more balance and better skill players will largely be the antidote to a lackluster line.
pretty much just like it ever waa
Blade and loo, no need to abstain from posting, please do your thing. Chuck will figure something out and we all will benefit.
You’re the best 12th Man . . . I am sure Unca will figure out something. James, thanks for your idea too on resolving this.
Saw ’em in ’78. Pretty bad ass.
As someone coined back in the day, “Led Zepplin with tits.”
Yeah I’ve seen Heart a lot and these Renaissance Ladies Ann&Nancy are the best women duo of alltime imo! Ann Wilson’s booming voice hits octaves I’ve never heard before, imo the greatest Rock&Roll woman’s voice ever!
Must have been the same tour Unca. I saw them right around that time in Rapid City, S. Dakota, while in the Air Force at Ellsworth AFB.
Great effort from Webb even if he lost no no. so refreshing to see well pitched game.
Winn finishes them off wow! Loved the high hard one to K Turang.
Great game by Webb, miraculously the bullpen closed it out.
See, all the Giants need to do is just keep winning tidy little games like this one, no need for lots of comments… 🙂 I second the empathies and sympathies for the Niner fan members of Charlie’s blog here. We Flappers can tend to be prolific conversationalists and posters, and that’s not fair here. I remember when the Flap would become Niner territory at times, mostly off-season for baseball and when football was at its peak (December, January, into February, especially if Niners were in the Super Bowl hunt and the Giants weren’t doing squat). But that was just temporary. As a baseball fan, I was always glad when the Super Bowl was done and gone so conversations would return to baseball.
But yeah, need a new site. Apologies and also thanks, Charlie, for a temporary home. Where else can Giants fans go? Michael (Twin Fan) had gone elsewhere in his later years, what site did he go to, anyone remember? Hope someone, a former (un)stable boy or two, can figure something out. Peace out, and go Niners! Er, Giants!
New thread. Check out the new page under the banner.
