Yeah, this should be good. In what has become an inexorable death march to the depths of hell, the 49ers host the Norlins Saints. A fair to middling team coming off a home victory over the Seahawks. Which likely means another high scoring affair. From them, anyway. Us? Well, hopefully we can put together more than just one good quarter, and play something resembling a complete game. But I digress.
I’m more hoping for the paper bags to come out in full forces. My son and I got a pretty strong reaction from fans, and about 50 pic requests. So, I’m thinking it sparks more reaction. There’s also talk of fly-bys as fans are crowd-funding “Fire Trent” and “Jed Go Home” banners.
At somer point you have to wonder when Jed will cut mommy’s apron strings and run the team without Dr. Death looking over his shoulder. Maybe then he’ll start making sound decisions. Or not. At what point does he become a complete laughingstock? His brand new stadium is already 1/2 empty on game day, and fans are suing for their set licenses back.
Like it fucking matters, but really. At some point, Jed needs to act like he knows and/or cares about the team. Otherwise, he should sell the stadium to the Raiders, and sell the team to Steve Young and Brent Jones.
Forty Niners Forever 
All these draft picks are just dreaming at best. Niners have to get rid of Baalke and his pathetic drafting first. We need men with a strong vision of a successful team. My goodness, if the Raiders can improve, why not the Niners? It’s like Baalke is a bargain basement shopper down in the basement of Goodwill.

Ronald Blair, good backup. IMO this last draft was pretty good. What we need is to spend some of the cap money we’ll have coming up to add a free agent or two.
Hard to say with the injuries but the defense is still a work in progress after 6 years of drafting for it.
At some point they need to do something about the offense. Hyde is good and all, but he can’t stay on the field. Our WRs are a bag of shitty inconsistency. Our TEs are mediocre at best. QBs? They are fair to suck, but a big part of the problem is a lot of WRs make their QBs look good by making tough catches. Some make them look bad (see Davis, Vernon) by not being able to adjust to badly thrown passes. If you didn’t hit Vernon perfectly in stride, he’d give up. Which is why he’s so inconsistent. Some WRs (hello) just can’t seem to get open. When they do, they drop shit.
Of course the playpen was jizzing themselves over VD’s ‘big’ game last week. Ooooh. 5 catches for 93 yards! VD this season. Be still my heart. Sure it’s better than what we got. But we have Trent Baalke to thank for that.
VD will have a good game now and then but the Niners need much more. Damn the needs only grow with each game. WR problem will be here for years. The QB problem is hopeless. Lets face it , the Niners are barely sucking air in an iron lung. The defensive line may as well be issued “welcome” mats to opposing teams. Special teams is not so special. Then on top of this pile of shit we have Jed York in charge of everything. If this were Holloween it would be great.
Rob it’s hard to call the last 2 drafts good when our bookend DEs get washed out every play. They are too tall to be effective. NJ and Bergs have been saying for years, among others, the line play is all about leverage. It is hard for those 2 to get leverage when they are so tall. Hence their stretches of ineffectiveness.
Yes and no. Their problem is they are young. and not as strong as they will be in a year or two. When they get tired they play higher which is a typical young D-line problem. Since they are tall it is more pronounced. As they get older they will develop just fine. Calais Campbell is a perfect example. For now I would one gap them much more often. They do that well. Unfortunately our LBs are not very good at covering the open lanes. Damned if we do, damned if we don’t.
BTW, I’ve got a cousin in Louisiana who is a travel agent. She’s about two hours from The Big Easy; if you’re ever interested in hitting the Caribbean or just Naawlins I’m sure I could hook you up.

Wish there was 49er news worth reporting. What with the trade deadline coming and going. Even though some folks freak out that we didn’t do anything, no one else did either. Duh. Unless LB Kyle Van Noy to the Pats for a 6th round pick floats your dingy. The NFL is not very big on in-season trades. The only one I recall with any clarity was the Niners getting Fred Dean from the Chargers for draft picks. Probably the most impactful in-season trade in NFL history.
