The talks around Mac the Knife are once again poking out of the woodwork as the trade window has pretty much dried up. I still think if we can get a starter and a 2-3, they should pull the trigger. I think the 49ers are playing this pretty well by saying they are reluctant at best to trade him. I think in reality, he team is fine with naming Kurtis Rourke the backup to Purdy.

Rourke has shown he’s fully ingrained in Shanahan’s system and has shown out when given the chance. I mean they certainly know more than me but I really think they are holding out for the biggest possible get for Jones. In his senior season at Indiana in 2024 he led them to a 10-2 record and played the entire season on a torn ACL. 3,000 yards, 29 TDs, 5 picks.

Talk around Minnesota is that they could offer us two 3rd round picks for Jones. One of which is Philadelphia”s. Which looks like a high 3rd round pick seeing as Philly is wasted by injury. I mean, I’d do it. We won’t see any benefit of letting Jones walk until 2028, and that may very well end up being a 4th round comp pick as his contract is peanut and he has not played recently. Seeing Marvin Harison Jr. get a 1st round pick in their trade only makes me think they can get a decent haul.

Baltimore is also in play since they lost two quarterbacks in their latest loss. Jackson is having a major issue with staying on the field, so Joners could possibly take over in next year’s camp. And with Philly’s problems with Jalen Hurts, Philly could really use him as their interim starter and he can do there what he is doing here next year.

I mean, Jones WANTS to be a starter. Give him his wish.
