Teddy Bridgewater is the latest player to be waylaid by the preseason. Players keep dropping despite the best efforts of the league to limit hitting in practice, and stop two-a-day practices, and cutting down on practice time in general. Bridgewater was carted away in an ambulance for an apparent knee injury. A non-contact injury. Granted, we have lost a few ourselves, including Carlos Hyde (concussion) Quinton Dial (knee sprain) Bruce Ellington (pulled hammy) Eric Rodgers and Thad Lewis (torn ACL). Teams all over the league are suffering through various and sundry (and not so sundry) injuries.
“Preseason” is the scariest word for any head coach to hear, as players like Tony Romo, DE Vance Walker of New England, and now Teddy Bridgewater many many more are severely injured in these practice games. At some point you’d think the owners would want to protect the very players the league is built on, but that would cut in to owner profits for games that no one shows up to, and fans are forced to buy tickets for.
There has been talk of getting rid of two preseason games, but at the cost of adding two regular season games. The NFLPA rightly went ballistic over this back in 2011, and the owners couldn’t even really rebut that, since adding 2 more real games to the schedule would guarantee a boatload of injuries. Goodie Goodell always preaches safety, but he NEVER stands in the way of profits (see concussion: whitewash). I certainly hope that the league (the owners) see fit to do away with 2 preseason games and not messing with the rest of the schedule.

I’m with Nip. Fisher is an overrated hack. He’s had a lot of good teams and has not done what he should with them. 5-6 in the playoffs is nothing to write home about. He’s had a ton of talent on both sides of the ball in StL that he’s done little with. He’s a .500’coach.
He should worry about coaching and not the anthem.n

RT, I would say Fisher couldn’t carry your soiled jockstrap when it comes to being a dynamo, with you being so upbeat and pumped about the coming season and all. But I know that being a complete smartass is a worthy goal in life for the less driven among us. 🙂

In an entire decade? I think we can come up with someone worse than him, can’t we? Singletary? Nolan? Any number of others? Frankly, I hope he does stink it up because that only helps the Niners.

The question still remains: Can Kap play QB for the Niners even in a back-up role? Hopefully Thursday will help with that question. I wouldn’t hold my breath. Still the 49er coaches have to determine that question….can he play? That anthem stuff is pure media bullshit.

Well the music videos tell me even on this football blog people really are not into this last pre-season game. Perhaps the Niners would be better just forfeiting the game to save their bodies for Monday night. Now that would be a trend worth thinking about. Loved the band Yes. Sat 4th row for Going For The One tour. in LA. This is probably my favorite Yes song but it is a tough call. I am disbelieving that Yes is not in the Rock HOF.
That about sums up my opinion about the Rock HOF.

I cannot believe the severity of some of these injuries. Ellington tweaks a hammy and goes on the IR. Armstead tears up the early part of camp but now has a shoulder that “may need surgery in the future.” I hope Dial isn’t the next guy to go on the IR.

All bets are off for Kappy. The one thing about his stand is the turmoil it causes among his own team. Maybe it won’t be a distraction and everyone’s cool with it, but it sure doesn’t sound like it. The timing is very odd as well. This very much resembles the uncertainty when Alex came back from injury and was ready to play. Harbs went back on his word and left Smith hanging.
Can he connect with his passes? He’s got to do something besides running. If he has no feel or touch in his passing he’s useless which would make his sitting situation moot. Cut him and move on.
