We interrupt the CK freakout . . . BTW I guess we get to see a whole lot of Kappy on Thursday . . .
Teddy Bridgewater is the latest player to be waylaid by the preseason. Players keep dropping despite the best efforts of the league to limit hitting in practice, and stop two-a-day practices, and cutting down on practice time in general. Bridgewater was carted away in an ambulance for an apparent knee injury. A non-contact injury. Granted, we have lost a few ourselves, including Carlos Hyde (concussion) Quinton Dial (knee sprain) Bruce Ellington (pulled hammy) Eric Rodgers and Thad Lewis (torn ACL). Teams all over the league are suffering through various and sundry (and not so sundry) injuries.
“Preseason” is the scariest word for any head coach to hear, as players like Tony Romo, DE Vance Walker of New England, and now Teddy Bridgewater many many more are severely injured in these practice games. At some point you’d think the owners would want to protect the very players the league is built on, but that would cut in to owner profits for games that no one shows up to, and fans are forced to buy tickets for.
There has been talk of getting rid of two preseason games, but at the cost of adding two regular season games. The NFLPA rightly went ballistic over this back in 2011, and the owners couldn’t even really rebut that, since adding 2 more real games to the schedule would guarantee a boatload of injuries. Goodie Goodell always preaches safety, but he NEVER stands in the way of profits (see concussion: whitewash). I certainly hope that the league (the owners) see fit to do away with 2 preseason games and not messing with the rest of the schedule.
As 12th said, it would be pretty fucking funny if the Vikings traded for Kaepernick and he is reunited with Alex Boone.
Losing Ellington was a bummer, done for the year. He is a player that has been on the cusp of a breakout every year on the roster, just can’t stay healthy. Time to cut bait permanently.
I like DeAndrew White and I guess we see what curly has got to offer.
Yeah, like I said before, I have the same issue with Hyde. He needs to be in the field playing.
We haven’t thrown shit to the WRs yet, so Im curious to see what happens Thursday.
Yup Hyde is following a similar pattern. Too early to cut bait but he needs to show the ability to stay on the field soon.
I think concussion protocol means he has to miss at least two weeks. He will probably miss opening day. He is turning out to be very brittle.
I doubt anything meaningful will come out of the SD. Even if Kap lights it up(which i truly doubt) it will be against scrubs. I would give Driskel (sp) and Ponder the ball for the whole game and not play Kap. I don’t know their reasoning for even playing him.
Trade bait? If he does well it improves their chances.
I agree Winder. Playing Kap at all means he could get hurt. They could’ve cut him now for football reasons and not had any controversy. After Chip said he was still in the running, they have to give him this time in the SD game to pull the same deal off.
Anyone got an Arik Amsted update?
The announcers said they thought he would play if it were a regular season game. Just being cautious.
Thx Berger, I missed that, probably because I had to watch the GB announcers feed.
Kerly now counts as the Brandon Thomas pick for those doing Baalke scoring.
Lol
3rd for a 5th and got lucky at that since if Ellington was healthy Thomas was cut next week. Not much of an argument IMO.
Works for me. We’ll see how he does but at least they got a warm WR who can return punts.
Waiting for the Kappy-for-a-bag-of-footballs trade. Although it would be in our best interest to make Kappy look good for the Vikings. And the Cowboys. And Denver . . .
CFL? I prefer another country now.
Agreed.
I doubt he would even go. He’ll take the Tebow route and pretend to try to get ready for next year.
Just wishful thinking Chuck.
Bridgewater injury waiting on an MRI but they sedated him, looks bad. Hate to see the players get hurt like this.
I think we should start a petition. Kap to the Vikings for free as long as we get a camera feed from the lockeroom and he has to sit next to Boone.
I dunno I think him and the Cowboys wouldn’t be so bad. I’m sure the people in Texas would just love them some Kappy.
I would love to inflict, err I mean trade, Kap to the Cowboys. Outstanding Winder!
Hmmm, Speaking of Tebow, Kappy could try his hand at baseball. He throws in the 90s.
Like I said, Dallas, Minnesota, and Denver are still viable trade partners. Shit, even San Diego.
Hey Chuck, can you change my post of the day please. I don’t want to be seen advocating for Crapernick.
Lol
Lol
Lol
LOL!
This Bridgewater thing sounds pretty rough, players throwing up?
Bridgewater, dislocated knee and torn ACL, done for the year and maybe more. Tough luck.
Bloody shame about Roosewater. He was one of my favorite two young QBs in the league (with Carr) and adding Winston and Mariota (who has DeMarco Murray tearing D’s up this year, btw), the best young four in the league. Roosewater’s ceiling may have been as a game manager, but as he hadn’t reached his ceiling yet, there may have been SBs in his future. Now, who knows?
I for one, will continue rooting for Kap. He brought me joy, two profoundly fun seasons not seen in Ninerland since Steve Young retired. I guess Kelly announces the starter on Friday, and though he refuses to say it, Kappy’s holding the clipboard. I doubt they cut him, at least if Kelly has any say. Nobody will touch him in trade now.
Doesn’t matter, I’m almost in “lose for high draft position, we need a QBOTF” mode already and the season hasn’t started.
Lol
Jeff Fisher has done nothing in forever as a HC, but he did this well:
Jeff Fisher is an ass.
He may be an ass (how many football coaches aren’t?), but he’s a good coach and knows his shit.
Yep, he’s a real dynamo. Glad he’s coaching the LA Rams.

I mean, he HAD a winning season in 2008. In 1999 he made the Super Bowl. In 2002, he made the AFCCG (was that REALLY 14 years ago?).
Meanwhile, as Niner fans, we’re stuck with a GM who couldn’t draft an offensive skill player to save his life and a FO straight out of a ’50s horror movie. Oh, that exciting but all too brief Harbaugh era. Remember when the Niners were not only a team to be reckoned with but a team to be feared? 2013 seems o so long ago. We fans just get Yorked
New season, bro. Bitching about it isn’t going to change a thing. At least wait until they start giving you something to bitch about.
We’ve been Yorked.
Last place for 49ers is predicted.
Now Kap is a vegan. No good football players would pass up red meat! Kap is FINISHED!
Kaep in MN means 2 games/year vs GB.
At least his resumé favors him on that score, if nothing else.
Question would be, how quickly would ABoone sharpen his ‘Look Out!’ blocks?
