If you folks didn’t notice, Brady Hoke was recently fired as the head coach of the University of Michigan Wolverines. My thoughts for a while now were that Jim Harbaugh wanted that job more than any other, as he went there and played under Bo Shembechler. So now that door is wide open.
Then again, I thought Jerry Jones would swoop in and love to snatch up our HC if shit here becomes (is) untenable. Whither the Jets and Raiders, as floated by the front office the other day? I don’t buy into either of those. Both teams are pretty screwed up.
I guess he Raiders could be viable as Jimbo’s wife doesn’t want to leave town.
does anyone really think this coaching staff will remain in place next year? I’ve also said for a while now that I think Jim is sowing the seeds of doubt himself. He wants an out because he feels unappreciated, hasn’t gotten the extension he thinks he deserves, and doesn’t have. Very good relationship with anyone in the building. Barring a Giant-like playoff run does anyone out there think these guys will remain in place? Even if the Niners win out, I think in the least Roman is gone.
There are some in 49er fandom who think we need a QB. One just came available today, Ryan Leaf was let out of prison!
Little known factoid Bergs = Hendrix was one of Leafs backups in San Diego his last season
“He’s gone!” “He’s back!” Marc Trestman will be the Niner OC next year.
You heard it here first.
And we do need a new QB. The one we have now looks like he belongs in prison. He can go and battle it out with Paul Crewe in the joint to see who can get “The Longest Yard.” I’ll take Burt Reynolds’ career at FSU > “Headphones” any day.
BTW, How bout dem Cowboys!
BTW x2, How the fuck did we lose at “home” to these Bears?
I’ll save you the trouble. Our QB sucks and so does our HC.
End. Of. Story.
“How bout dem Cowboys!”
Offense rated Numba One and I don’t think they’ve hurt themselves tonight.
They must have the best coaches in the league running that outfit.
It also helps that the Cowboys have a QB who, outside you and I that think he’s worth his weight in stars, proves everyone else wrong with his exemplary play and command of the huddle.
QB ratings entering tonight: 1)Rodgers, 2)Manning, 3)Romo, 4)Luck…20)Kap.
Kap’s behind noted luminaries such as Mark Sanchez, Kyle Orton and dare I say, “The Shredder.” But, hey. At least our guy leads the league in getting sacked.
Enough of this game and blog for tonight. Time for “Peter Pan” live on NBC.
That Wendy girl is hot. 😛
How many rings is ol’ Tony wearing there, skippy? He’s got just as manuy as kappy. ANd Kappy has an NFC Championship. Something Tony doesn’t have.
Kappy’s as good as Marino and Fouts by your standards.
One team in the NFL has zero completions over 40 yards, I give you 2 guesses which…
Checkdowns rarely go for 40+?
Give that man a cigar! No shock Charlie hasn’t thrown once for 40+ but no TD to a WR? We think Niner WR are pissed with low numbers lol.
I would take Linehan or Callahan any day over Roman when it comes to play calling. Those were not dumb schemes.
Bryant might disagree with you. In fact most here would have disagreed with the game plan if we ran it. 59 offensive snaps and 41 touches for the RB.
Since we can’t run block, or we give up on it too fast anyway, what’s the point? Some people around here think that by saying we should try less obvious formations, it means we should throw 65 times a game.
But whatever. Stay the course. 1,000 points of light . . . Let’s hope after 13 weeks we can start executing our plays.
We run block better than Dallas. We rate third in the league. You can have your own opinion but not your own set of facts.
You and many others were yammering for pass, pass and more pass every time we ran more than 15 times. Biggest difference with teams defensing Dallas is they have to respect the deep passing game so the safeties stay home. Against us the safeties can play wherever they want to.
Change the coaching staff after two losses. That’s the ticket.
Wow, we run block so well that we don’t run, How brilliant is that? It’s hard to execute when you don’t actually do them.
We;re running so well that Frank Gore is at his lowest yards per attempt at 3.9. He’s averaging less that 60 yards per game and he likely won;t make it to 1,000.
We run so well that we’re 12th in rushing yards. Take out Kappy’s scrambles, and we’re 29th.
Yeah all signs point to our run game being fantastic. Except for the fact that it isn’t
Let’s give Jim Harbaugh and the 26th highest scoring offense a raise!!!
Garrett/Jones “fired” Callahan by bringing in Linehan to call the plays. Some here would say that’s too many cooks.
Callahan is the OC in charge of the run game strategy. Linehan was brought in for his passing game expertise and to call plays. He was told to run the ball more than in his past. Callahan is still in charge of the offense. I would love to steal one of those two for our offense next year.
You’re just being silly now.
I know it doesn’t match your sales pitch but it is the truth.
If our run blocking is so good and our schemes are so good, our RBs must not be executing (3.8 yds./carry).
Our o-line hasn’t been as good as it is now all year. Would it interest you to know that Gore is gaining more yards after contact and breaking tackles at a greater clip than he did last year? Only one answer for that. Injuries to #1 rated guard and veteran tackle, rookie center, crappy play from a holdout who was better last year and a replacement at RT might be a better bet than crucifying the coaches. Still Gore is 5+ YPC running over left tackle and right end.
Then with all those injuries, it doesn’t make sense to run the ball at 3.8/per, n’est pas?
The problem I see is that Harbaugh isn’t going to get rid of Roman. If they stay together, then they both should be gone together.
Fangio;s defense has covered up a lot of fair to middling offensive play. Now that it is heading toward the bottom, the wins are harder to come by as well.
Bullit is grumbling that talking smack about our precious FO will distract us from “our” preparation for the Raiders that “we” should be doing. Huh? I didn’t know “we” were preparing for anything except the next Typhoon. I don’t know the dynamics over there. He must like the owners.
Let’s see what will be worse? Getting hit by the 150 mph winds of the hurricane or having Hendrix eat turkey on our logo this fall?
Correct answer = Hendrix eats turkey, slaps Jed on his poor old back, Rams win 52-0, Jimi aims for back but hits shorty upside the noggin.
BTW how could anything be more distracting than having short stuff and the Low Baakler leaking all over the national media crap about their HC?
We deserve it gentlemen, this farce and the ugly implications
Low BAALKER I say. The Low BAAKLER was when Jimi missed shorty;s back and whacked his noggin.
The lesser of two evils:

Phil I don’t, and haven’t bitched about our record.
Defense has been primarily responsible for that.
I bitch about an Offense that can’t give the D a blow or, be productive in the Red Zone.
That nonsense has been going since year one.
True NJ. You are rightly dissatisfied with the O and point to production, fair enough. I’m dissatisfied and point to our record and to the over-reaction by FO with their cheap tricks (media sabotage) to solving the “Hendrix problem”.
This will not end well. Our problems start with poor leadership at the top not with an anemic O. We differ and do not need to agree on what we see as relevant.
For me it is easy to see the utter foolishness of our FO and where it is taking this outfit.
If somebody is paying for a numbers service that says we have the third best run blocking in the NFL, I would ask for a refund. Absolute proof that either numbers lie or the OC does know how to design and call plays. It has to be one or the other. Can’t be both. Personally, I think it is both.
I say it can’t be both meaning the numbers can’t lie and the OC knows what he is doing. On the other hand, I say it is both meaning the numbers do lie and the OC doesn’t know what he is doing.
Phil- Good luck with that typhoon. Hold on to your coconuts.
Yes Bergs it’s another major one again this year but fortunately it is again passing a little to the north of us. Hey where the hell are my coconuts?
In conclusion…….BLEEP the offense. It sucks. Defense wins it for the Niners 10-9. We all go home unhappy but grateful for a hard fought win.
You figured out your Christmas menu yet? I can tell ya one thing, no more turkey! Add ham to that list while you’re at it. What does that leave us? Roast Beast! The feast that the Grinch liked in the least. And maybe a can of Who hash.
You’re a foul one, Head Coach, Jim. You’re a nasty, wasty skunk . Your team plays dull with unwashed socks, your O. is full of gunk Mr. Jim-mmmm. The three words that best describe you are as follows, and I quote: Stink, stank, stunk!
They suffer the worst of sins……they’re BORING! By tradition a 49er has to have an Offense! They can lose that’s been done many times but score points in doing so. We can all crab about the defense later.
I never have seen a story saying exactly what the problem is with Harbaugh/Baalke/Prince Jed. I mean, examples. They don’t get along — that’s about as specific as it gets. Harbs rejected some extension offers with incentives? Wow, that’s it? Is he as prickly in meetings as he is in news conferences? If whatever it is is causing this offense to stink it up, then there must be something to it. I think Harbs is a good coach, but the bloom if off his rose when the team doesn’t do well. People thought the Dubs wouldn’t be as good without Preacher Jackson — uh, well, they’re better. If Harbs is gone, get somebody else, but keep Fangio…
At least we have Snarkk!
Go Snarkk!
So the Warrior FO is smarter than the Niners I guess. But that’s not saying much
Snarkk
Lombardi and Walsh rubbed people the wrong way. Owners didn’t like them all the time but they were kept because they were winners. Despite the attempted trade of the SB contending coach (specific enough?) last season the Niners went to the NFCCG. At the end of last season the Niners were 41-14-1 under Jimi. With the ongoing sabotage by media campaign of the FO up to now including over the off season the Niners have crumbled. The train wreck is in process and details are not yet available but more will be when the smoking ruin comes to rest.
Longer range future is this: Hendrix will find a position like he did to continue his rivalry w/ Carroll and now w/ the San Francisco Forty Niners, Low Balls and Shorty. Like with the Rams or another team. Hendrix will not slink away and forgive and forget. The shabby treatment by FO will be avenged from his POV is my guess.
Just ask Scott McCloughan how it works. Do we specific details there? No, none. But McCloughan is the blueprint for the Hendrix debacle including his work for a SF rival and their continuing triumphs over us.
FO of Low Balls and Short Stuff are good at one thing for sure = they know how to make powerful enemies.
This is the day the Niners will crap on the pathetic Raiders. They better or else.
If we can’t fix what’s ailing us in this one Nipper we’re as good as done.
Hoping this is a morale booster for the trip to Seattle next week.
Go Eagles!
Go Chiefs!
Go Bucs!
The way people are panicking after the loss to Seattle is mind boggling. We got out coached by Pete again and most are trying to tell us why this coach is so important. Maybe he is and maybe not. We’ve had the best talent in football for three years and no Super Bowls. Wins are nice but represent nothing without the final prize. Frankly, I used to care but things are starting to change. I’ll still watch the games but these chat sites are growing more boring with each loss. The amount of expertise that grows out of each loss is so subjective and so fiercely debated as fact it becomes childish. If we keep or fire the coach, so be it. I couldn’t a care less. I like the coach but he has zero championships with the best talent available to any other coach in the league the last few years. Now we hear he is pulling a power play on the owner, just brilliant. If true, it tells me he does not care if he is here or not next year. If he doesn’t care, why should I? It is nothing but a waste of time to speculate what is going to become of this situation, especially since we don’t know if the rumors we hear are true. Just win Super Bowls baby!
Well, my problem with Harbaugh is his insistence on sticking with Roman. My hope these last 2 years was someone would hire him away to be their headache, uh, head coach. No such luck.
If Harbaugh wants to stick with Roman, then he goes as well.
New thread is up.
