Next Steps

If you folks didn’t notice, Brady Hoke was recently fired as the head coach of the University of Michigan Wolverines. My thoughts for a while now were that Jim Harbaugh wanted that job more than any other, as he went there and played under Bo Shembechler. So now that door is wide open.

Then again, I thought Jerry Jones would swoop in and love to snatch up our HC if shit here becomes (is) untenable. Whither the Jets and Raiders, as floated by the front office the other day? I don’t buy into either of those. Both teams are pretty screwed up.

I guess he Raiders could be viable as Jimbo’s wife doesn’t want to leave town.

does anyone really think this coaching staff will remain in place next year? I’ve also said for a while now that I think Jim is sowing the seeds of doubt himself.  He wants an out because he feels unappreciated, hasn’t gotten the extension he thinks he deserves,  and doesn’t have. Very good relationship with anyone in the building.  Barring a Giant-like playoff run does anyone out there think these guys will remain in place? Even if the Niners win out, I think in the least Roman is gone.

  1. For whatever reasons the FO and Hendrix have not reached agreement on extension. Evidently FO is not willing to meet his demands based on accomplishments to date. Stalemate in negotiations and offensive offense tho still a winning record, not a good brew for happiness all the way around.

With Hendrix holding the cards I don’t expect him to be real flexible in negotiations. FO are fools for not paying the man and good luck with that. Hendrix is not Kaepernick at the bargaining table. He knows his worth and plenty of teams will agree.

Interested in how the game goes in OAK Sunday as Raiders may well be his next team.

Just remember if history teaches us anything everything is in flux and especially coaches tenures. They’re all temps including Harbaugh.

    • Harbaugh’s a horrible temp. We’d have won a Super Bowl by now if we’d hired a Kelly Girl.

    • Good point Nipper. Not for long = NFL. Goes for the players and coaches no matter how you did last year.

Still 48 wins is going to be hard to replace as will be clear to all eventually.
      Let’s get 49 Sunday.

        I don’t disagree Phil.
However, with all the weapons he’s had, we’ve been pathetic in the Red Zone since he arrived.
Offensive creativity is our biggest hurdle IMO.
Fix that, score more readily, everyone is happier.

  3. Low Ball Baalke trying to get a winning coach cheap, the best since Seifert, is the problem with this franchise. Hendrix didn’t pull a Kaepernick and buy into Low Balls incentive scheme is the problem and subsequent FO leaks to media have poisoned the atmosphere.

Yes NJ your narrative has been very clear for a long time. No problem fire away.

York and Baalke overplaying their hand with Harbaugh:

“With the offense (23rd in yards per game and 24th in points per game) struggling and a steep climb to make the playoffs in front of this tired-looking bunch, the brass (Jed York, Trent Baalke and Paraag Marathe) may believe that a strong enough case has been made, that enough evidence exists to allow them to part ways with Harbaugh without an uprising from the “faithful.”

“They’ve handled this poorly, from the moment the Cleveland Browns trade rumors were reported and denied.”

“Fans don’t care how much drama there is in Santa Clara, Harbaugh is still the team’s best coach since George Seifert, and it isn’t close.

“No one, not Jim Tomsula, Vic Fangio or Adam Gase, let alone any NFL retread or college coach one can name, can claim a record that strong.”

‘…York’s and/or Baalke’s plan throughout this season evolved into “let’s convince the fans that this Harbaugh thing isn’t working out, then we’ll trade him to another team,…”

Chuck says Harbaugh’s causing this. NJ says it the O. Gentlemen you are wrong. This is about money Low Ball and his boss do not want to pay the winner Hendrix. They want him on the cheap and they are not going to get him cheap. No matter how many leaks those two spill to the media about ‘locker rooms’ (pure crap, zero evidence). Follow the money and that is where it leads and that is what this is about.

    Good luck with that.

  5. Where will Jimi Hendrix play his next concert?

“Bile creeps into the throats of 49ers fans whenever they think about Harbaugh resurrecting the Silver and Black. But the team that should worry the 49ers most may be the one considered most likely by some to move to Los Angeles. A team that has beaten the Seahawks, 49ers and Broncos this season. A team that’s a quarterback away from playoff, or perhaps even title contention. A team that’s in the NFC West, which would force York and Baalke to face Harbaugh twice every season.”

“If Harbaugh became the next coach of the Rams, he’d get a chance to stick it to York, Baalke and Pete Carroll at the same time, all while remaining in a favorable location for his family if the franchise moves back to Southern California. He’d get to choose the team’s next quarterback, and if he brought Vic Fangio over, the defense would probably be good enough to win eight games on its own. Tre Mason doesn’t look too shabby either — just ask the Raiders, who have a lot more questions to answer than the Rams if they want to be seen as Harbaugh’s best next job.”

LA Rams baby. LOL for a long long time

  6. They’ll -FO- come to their senses alright but the horse will be long gone

  7. Nipper's avatar Nipper says:

How about rehiring Sing but this time he has to wear suspenders. Make Vernon his assistant. Martz comes back too. Nolan can man the Defense. Well the owner would have to have a sick sense of humor.

    • Yes I’ll contribute to the suspender fund. Plus throw in a little extra for the clown wig, big nose and glasses.

Get ready for York III. Meltdowns that is

  8. Fisher has never won anything. Look at his record it stinks. Jimi to LA Rams after another 6-10 finish by Rams next year.

Fangio will be done with his contract and ready to be Jim’s DC but this time for a lot more money- and they’ll have a brand new stadium that’s not a while elephant.

Screw with your winning coach I got no sympathy dickwads

  9. Berger's avatar Berger says:

A quote from Greg Roman. I couldn’t have said it better myself:
“We got the players to get it done,” he said. “We got the coaches to get it done. We have a rich tradition of getting it done. We have to dial in and whoever’s out there, we simply got to get it done. That really starts with me. Got to do a better job on my end and (I’m) fully capable of doing that.”

    • NoFear49er's avatar NoFear49er says:

I wouldn’t argue with that either. Too bad everyone in the building doesn’t have the same mindset.

  10. Coffee, in a few minutes. Hendrix to Rams, sweet

  11. Maybe you should. Rams are 5-7 heading for 6-10. NJ bitches about 7-5 as being a disaster.

No, the disaster is Low Balls

  12. “Hello Rams? Hendrix here. I’m taking a $5 mil paid vacation next year and thought I’d ask you about moving to LA. Both of us. Yeah me coaching you guys down there in 2016. Fisher has another 5-11 season next year you be interested? Really? Great. Yeah I got my DC ready to go after next year and of course Greggie Poo. No problem, huh? Great. Well it won’t be cheap you know, say $8 mil per. No problem, great. Yeah I’m sick of Jeddie and his sidekick Low Balls. Yeah whaddaya gonna do with cheap ass kids? Fine, I’ll have my people talk to your people. See you in LA and let’s kick some Niner ass”

    • Berger's avatar Berger says:

Most HC contracts state the exiting coach has to get a job next year, or legitimately try or he doesn’t get paid. For example, Harby gets fired and he goes to another team and only gets 1 million as an OC, 49ers pay him the remaining 4. If he doesn’t try to get a job the 49ers owe him nothing. This may or may not be true with Harby’s contract but that would be a typical clause. I remember the Redskins tried to not pay Shanahan for not getting a job, I don’t know how it ended up. IIRC, I think he got paid because he sais he tried to get a job but he was fired so late that it wasn’t possible? I don’t remember for sure.

    • Niners won’t owe him anything as the Rams will be paying him way over a lousy $5 M next year. Niners will pay when he marches into the White Elephant and does a Seahawk on their logo.

Courtesy of the cheap asses running the show (into the ground)

  13. You Bergs predicted Rams to LA right? Believe they could move after this season, play a year in LA Coliseum while the Hendrix Palace is being constructed on the lot the RAMS owner already OWNS. Little tuning up, get a QB or two. Come pay a visit like McCloughan had the satisfaction of witnessing. Low Balls is a pisser offer and just you watch.

    Fisher ain’t going anywhere.

  15. What do Hendrix, VD, Boone and Crabtree have in common?

They don’t want to get Low Baalked, all of them. Player know the FO is low balling the HC and they are next. So…screw it.

    Party’s over

THAT’S the locker room discord not these phoney leaks Baalke/Jeddie are taking on the media whores.

  16. Let’s see Fisher is currently 18-24 oh yeah and 1 tie. Lifetime he’s 160-144-1. But Rams won’t dump this mediocre coach for a guy that has the most wins in the last 3 years and a early career record in top 3 behind LOMBARDI and Madden?

Because RAMS, unlike the Seahawks are as dumbly led as the NINERS. Gotcha. No not really.

Pray you Niner fans, pray I’m wrong. But you don’t have a prayer do you?

    Keep Fisher, right.

  17. phil fan's avatar phil fan says:

    Let’s look at the nightmare:

Hendrix replaces the mediocre doofus and the Rams move to LA, build the Hendrix Palace, the 2nd one now, play next year in LA Coliseum. They come up here in 2015 Sept/Oct/whenever plus for the next 4 years and absolutely own the Niners with the new coaching staff and minus a shit load of stars.

Hey Low Balls is under the cap. Speaking of Kap…never mind. New HC only making $3 M.

This is an entirely plausible scenario. Rams would be nuts not to grab our star coach and kick Niner ass. Hendrix would love it too but I’m sure he won’t slap the new HC guy too hard on his back.

Why not? Keep Fisher, lol The worst is that we “would deserve it”. AGAIN

  18. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Fisher hasnt had his starting QB 2 out of his 3 years. Granted they were expected to challenge for the west but I don’t think he’s on The edge of being fired. Jimbo wants to go to michigan. The table is set. His shit flies in college

  19. 12th man's avatar 12th man says:

Well Phil, that was definitely entertaining.

  20. Thanks 12 th. Hendrix to Rams for my money. Forewarned is forearmed. Happy to cheer the joint up.
