Meanwhile, back on the field . . .

For a team that’s 1-11, you’d think the Raiders would be the team with all the turmoil surrounding it. Well, not this year. The 7-5 Niners are still in the playoff race, needing a little help from whoever plays Seattle, Dallas, or Detroit. Seattle looks to have a battle on their hands, facing a strong 9-3 Philly team in their house, something Seattle struggles with at times. They seem to be getting healthyed up at the right time, though.

So I think our best shot is to hope for Dallas and Deetroit to fade down the stretch. Something very common for the inglorious bastard Tony Romo. Mr. October may just yet blow another playoff shot as they play Philly, Indy, and Washington. Detroit? Well, they look like a shoo-in with TB, Minn, and Chicago on their feastables, and GB to close it out.

The Niners? well, they need to take care of the Raiders, and then win in Seattle. If either of these don’t happen, well, it’s sure looking like the coaching staff will be a different one next year. So, their chances at this point are slim and none, and slim just hit the road.

  1. Nipper says:

This season is one big BLEEP!

  2. Berger says:

Phil’s got me listening to Jimi Hendrix this morning!

  3. Winder says:

We’re not going to the playoffs this year. Sad but true.

  4. snarkk says:

Winning out is not in the cards.
3-1 may be still in the cards, which gets them to 10-6, my pre-season prediction, which would get them maybe into the playoffs if they get help and get into a tiebreaker with Dallas or something. I’m thinking this offense sucks so much, a 2-2 ending is more probable, and 9-7 isn’t getting it done. That loss to the Bears in Santa Clara was a killer loss…

  5. philippinefan says:

Yeah I hate those low scoring losses. Rams at Levis was another one. No O = big woes, too much on the D. Been that way all season for the most part

  6. philippinefan says:

Reports still surfacing Hendrix to Raiders per the unbiased Tim K. Man people are going to shit when he signs with the soon to move LA Rams and comes up here to eat some Niner turkey every year

  7. Flavor says:

    Jesus Fucking CHrist…..

  8. IDH19568 says:

Holy fuck. Kap: you sack of shit

  9. Let’s run more read-option college BS. Harbaugh is a joke.

  10. IDH19568 says:

    This offense reaks

  11. phil fan says:

Finally Miller swing pass to FB for a TD. Niners playing good short passing game

  12. We’re running the triple option. And it culminates with a TD to our FB who is a dead ringer for Kris Kringle from “Santa Clause is Comin’ to Town” (1970)

  13. Flavor says:

what a fucking complete waste of a timeout by Harbs. Fuck him.

  14. philippinefan says:

Tackle eligible was not announced? Hence questioning by Hendrix

  15. We just allowed a TD to the tackle eligible play from a team that’s 1-11.

Total embarrassment. And did Jimbo just waste a TO to challenge if he was eligible or not?
I want that worthless POS of a HC fired at the half. Fuck him.

  16. We can’t even waste our third and final TO before the delay of game penalty.

  17. IDH19568 says:

What in the mother fuck are they calling on O. These plays look like shit.

  18. Just poetic. Holding on the made FG that now results in a punt.
This entire organization needs to be drawn and quartered.
I’m done laughing. Send in the Clowns, Francis Albert.

  19. Alleykat says:

Way to take 3 pts off the board Celek you POS!!
Fuck what else can they do wrong?
Guess I’ll just wait and see…

  20. IDH19568 says:

You won’t have to wait long. This dicksucking team is pretty easy to beat right now

  21. Boldin with another drop? You don’t say.

  22. False start on Carr. Chris Meyers said, “Peyton Manning would get away with. (reply) But he’s Peyton Manning.” which reminds me…

Did we sign Peyton Manning yet?

  23. IDH19568 says:

Goddammit don’t they have any timing pass plays that aren’t fucking jump balls.

  24. Pretty quiet blog today. Not the normal number of rants and raves.
Don’t even lie to me and said you were at church. You old heathens.

  25. If Kap throws that ball in Hyde’s breadbacket, that’s a TD. But his low throw stopped his momentum. He stinks on ice.

  26. Flavor says:

Really like Carr’s accurate arm. Mighta been said here before, but you exchange him for Kap and….our offense would still smoke copious amounts of pole

  27. We not only deserve to lose this game, but we actually *need* to lose this game.
Just like a high colonic, It would be cleansing.

  28. Irish Kevin says:

Back to being unable to get a play off!!

  29. Irish Kevin says:

I am going to have lots and lots of Raider fans in my face tomorrow at work!!!

  30. Irish Kevin says:

Where the hell is the pass rush?

  31. Their TE, Rivera, is just abusing us.

  32. Alleykat says:

Have we traded for Carr yet?

  33. Alleykat says:

Have we traded for David Carr yet?

  34. Irish Kevin says:

There is never any urgency in this team!! Done two scores and Harbaugh and company taking their time with plays!!

  35. IDH19568 says:

    Kapernick sucks huge coc k

  36. Alleykat says:

    No urgency needed now Kevin.
After you blow a chip shot FG, there season is over.

  37. IDH19568 says:

    That’s the season

  38. philippinefan says:

  39. IDH19568 says:

What a collective gaping offense is. Go Warriors.

  40. We just got thoroughly beat, manhandled and out-coached by a 1-11 Raiders’ team.
Harbaugh wants to be fired — NOW. Give him his fucking final wish.

  41. It’s appropriate to end this nightmarish game on a false start penalty followed up by another sack.

I warned you people —- Jim Harbaugh’s the fucking Devil.

    Burn motherfuckers, burn.

    • 12th man says:

Cards won, Squawks winning, Niners lost to the Raiders for Christ sakes.

      • philippinefan says:

12th you know my theory so won’t repeat it here.

        Rams, lol

      • 12th man says:

Not only is something going to change Phil but it clearly needs to. Its one thing to look for excuses or reasons in high places but the product on the field is just not as good as the talent level and thats an everloving fact.

  42. Thoroughly beat — on every level imaginable — by an 1-11 team. I’m talking from the parking lot attendant, the coffee boy, secretaries and all the way up to Eddie Jr. Jr.

If you’re wearing any red and gold now, take it the fuck off.
I always talk about *deserving* things. Well, they don’t deserve our support at the moment.

  43. phil fan says:

Yes agree things should change and that’s been decided long ago when things were okay. But whatever the team has quit and it’s on to the next coach. Let’s see how that goes

  44. philippinefan says:

Jim Tomsula by all indications is going to finish up this season I bet and apparently is the frontrunner for the HC position.

Dunno but the Rams may not need Hendrix to be tough on the Niners next year.

  45. Flavor says:

David Carr makes good decisions and throws accurate passes. CK makes bad decisions and throws wildly inaccurate passes.
I’d take Carr in a nanosecond, in any offense…..

  46. Nipper says:

    Niners are DEAD MEAT WALKING…..

  47. philippinefan says:

Let’s see if the lack of support for Hendrix by FO can be erased by getting a new guy. Try to trade your coach? This shouldn’t be surprising.

    • We’re not trading Bo Schembechler Jr.™ He won’t allow it. Why in the hell would Jimbo sign off on a trade (he has final say so) to the team that’s going to be minus his draft pick. His “Assholiness” will force Jed to fire him. Not that he nudge or anything…

  48. philippinefan says:

Try to follow along: The SF Forty Niners tried to trade Hendrix LAST YEAR. This wasn’t good for morale This Year.

He nixed it THEN and Low Balls and Jeddie have been leaking shit out their ears ever since.

  49. philippinefan says:

No pass rush b/c Brooks was benched and did not play today? Or/and has the D quit too?

  50. philippinefan says:

This is a team that tried to trade Hendrix last year and he nixed it. So are you (or they) surprised the players have given up and the QB is regressing? Really?

    I’m not one bit

  51. philippinefan says:

    FYI: from Barrows

“Harbaugh insisted he didn’t call a timeout after a second-quarter touchdown by Raiders offensive tackle Donald Penn. He said he was asking the side judge whether Penn was an eligible receiver on the play and the officials thought he was signaling a time out.

“The timeout was not given back to the 49ers, and they began an end-of-half drive with just one remaining.’

Down year for the officials too

  52. Flavor says:

I’m tired of dumbass Kaep saying he needs to “play better.” Newsflash dickhead: you have to “get better” at playing the position. Learn. Study. Practice. This dude has gotten WORSE since he became the starter. And that stupid ass squigley line shaved into his head is an indication of where his priorities are……

  53. Berger says:

This won’t be popular but I’m glad we lost. I like the way NJ explains it, we play checkers while the other team plays chess. We were out coached again. Or like Del says, we run a college offense.

I think what has happened is, since we run a college offense that lacks rhythm, a lot of the big plays we’ve had the last couple of years comes from Kap freelancing. Now that there is enough film other teams know the tendencies when Kap tries to make something happen and our checkers playing coaches have nothing designed to challenge the chess playing opponent. So the QB looks like he is regressing when what is really happening is our college offense has run it’s course. Time to change the HC since he would not change the OC. Let the new coach decide on the QB whether somebody new or Kap. It is obvious this coaching staff has nothing to offer in designing an offense to help a young QB other than teaching him to play checkers. We need a staff to teach chess.

  54. Berger says:

Mark Davis told Harbaugh before the game that he stole their dysfunction. WOW! That’s one of the most startling things I ever remember an owner say to an opposing coach.

  55. NJ49er says:

I’ve been getting hammered by the majority of my NYJ fan buddies since the game ended.
They can now claim fame to having beaten the Raiders.
    We can’t.

    Pretty much sums it up.

10 days to prepare for a 1-11 team.
    Nice work Harbaugh.
If you’re the QB whisperer of the Staff, I’d turn up the volume.
If I’m Jed, I keep my phone in my pocket, stay away from Twitter and, force a change with this Offensive Staff.
    This crap belongs in College.

A rookie QB looked better today, playing for an interim HC, and a Staff of nobodies.

Perhaps Brooks is mailing it in now too.
    This team has quit.

The triple jump on the checkers board just amounted to Check. Mate. Raiders.

  56. Flavor says:

while I disagree with Berger about why we can’t score, I agree with him on being ok with the loss. Something is majorly fucked up with this team and it’s time to address it instead of having some dream of beating Seattle next week. Fuck that. Harbs let SOMETHING get out of control and he can’t fix it. Time for a change.

  57. rtfirefly says:

    Kap 58.4
    Carr 140.2

    • Flavor says:

the accuracy of Carr’s throws is what really stood out for me. Sometimes it’s not even clear who the fuck Kaep is throwing the ball to…..

  58. Berger says:

According to the Comcast Raiders beat reporter, he said Carr had by far his best game of the year. How does he have his “by far best game of the year” against us? It’s called having no pressure from the pass rush. While people are trying to compare QBs, to not notice the time he had to throw is not being rational. Felde and Dennis Brown talked about it on the post game show. Any QB with that much time to throw should have a good game.

    • 12th man says:

True no pass rush but Carr repeatedly beat the blitz too. He had a heck of a game.

      • Berger says:

Carr did not beat the blitz, his blockers picked it up. I do remember one play where a LB applied some pressure but we gave him a clean lane up the middle to throw to a receiver open by 5 yards. He wasn’t challenged at any time tonight except a couple of 3rd and long plays where we forced him to throw short.

  59. Berger says:

Flavor- Kap’s mechanics are out of sorts right now. He has had good mechanics in the past. A little good coaching would help him a lot right now. If I havew seen it for a few weeks how come the coaches have done nothing about it? Can you imagine Dave Rhigheti letting something like this get by him? Bill Walsh would certainly have done something about it by now.

The offensive schemes are bad, the rhythm is bad, the O-line is bad, Gore gets only 12 touches while averaging 5.3 yards per carry, we change personnel on almost every play, so why should the QB be the only shining light on offense. When has that ever happened. I think you’d have to go back to Archie Manning and didn’t even usually win.

  60. NJ49er says:

Both Ellington and Patton were on the field today.
Max Protect and work on a 38 year Safety perhaps?
We’ve got no one on the Offensive side of this situation with any clue about running a passing game.
    Short crossers force rhythm.
    Where’s the No Huddle?
If the O-Line can’t pass protect or run block, then shake things up up front.
Try SOMETHING other than the same redundant garbage to force a Defense to figure it out.
We love motioning back and forth and burning play clocks apparently.
We’re damn good at that, especially with time winding down and needing 2 scores.

    Business as usual.

  61. Berger says:

My biggest question is a familiar one. Why when we are gaining about 6 yards per carry on first down do we change personnel every time and pass? I think if we stick to the run we win the game. We were running well but never used it to establish a rhythm. With so many focused on the QB struggling they are missing the bigger picture. What has regressed is this coaching staff.

  62. unca_chuck says:

Crazy thing is, Kappy played like the rookie and Carr played like the vet. WTF with Brooks? He missed a meeting so he;s benched? Think that may have played into the defensive flatness? This coaching staff seems hell-bent on alienating their own players.

Kappy sucked once again, but for the love of God can they come up with some plays that get guys open? They get one nice drive on short quick passes,so once again they stopped doing it. They went right back to fades and Kappy rolling left for some stupid ass reason. Gave up on the run,. No rhythm, no flow, no chance for anyone on offense to get on a roll. It’s maddening that we suddenly have an offense worse than anything that Jeff Hostler or Jimmy-Hat came up with.

And the defense was terrible. NO pressure, Fangio got burned the few times he blitzed and Borland/Wilhoite got abused covering Oakland’;s TEs, Oh well.

  63. Berger says:

If I was Jed I would go to Baalke and tell him to get rid of Roman now and put someone in charge of the offense who will take control. I’m not even worried about the style of offense right now, just find me a leader who will take control. If Harby doesn’t like it tough, I’ll accept his resignation if he doesn’t want to fill the vacancy. As Mark Davis told Harbaugh before the game, he has become dysfunctional. I wouldn’t mind seeing Fangio or Tomsula in charge for the last three games anyway.

Even the most Ardent Harbaugh supporter has to see he has major dysfunction going on right now. How can that not affect the players.

    • Hendrix is not going to quit. It’s too late for a new OC to make any difference. No trades, no extensions either. New regime ahoy

      • Berger says:

True, but since Harby has been trying to pull a power play it is time to show him how it is done. Jed needs to show everybody who is the boss. This is a golden opportunity.

      • What power play? Who said that? Lots and lots of shit have been leaked to media but “It’s Hendrix”?

You think Jimi is not trying to get more money but it’s power he wants?

        Evidence please

      • Berger says:

Just what we keep hearing on Comcast Bay Area broadcasts. I’m assuming the insiders know what they are saying. They won’t give details but many have talked about it.

      • Ah ok, we don’t get Comcast “Harbaugh Lies” network on the coconut internet. Sounds like Jed leaking to a national network to me. He’s FOS that short guy. “THe Inside Source” for Niner smears. But blaming the victim is normal for back stabbers.

Don’t get me wrong we need help on O no doubt. Just think Jed is digging a bigger hole than he realizes.

      • Berger says:

That is possible. But we aren’t going to win a SB with Roman calling plays so IMO, not much to lose.

    • NJ49er says:

Jed made a huge mistake tweeting last week.
I’m sure he meant it however.

Something needs to be shaken up.
If it’s Roman, so be it.
This garbage has no place to go but down.
      Flat out difficult to watch.
I’m sure it’s even more difficult to be on the field trying to make it look better then it is too.

  64. Berger says:

When we hired Harbaugh many said he wears out his welcome after about 3 or 4 years. that is sounding prophetic these days.

  65. unca_chuck says:

The problems remain the same as they’ve been for a while now, No urgency, no quick plays, no rhythm. The one TD drive was quick passes and some nice runs. I think this coaching staff is not doing Kappy any favors.

  66. Berger says:

Anyway, this is a good day. With the way we got handled today on both sides of the ball by the one win Raiders, this coaching staff is gone. We’ve had the best talent in the NFL for the last three years, according to most experts in the media, and not one Super Bowl trophy tom show for it. Next!

  67. Berger says:

I still am in disbelief that Mark Davis told Harbaugh that he stole the Raiders dysfunction. Can’t be said from a higher source any better than that.

  68. Berger says:

Brady had a lot of pressure today in the first half. He looked bad and was down 14-3. In the 2nd half he got plenty of time to throw and looked like Brady again and won the game. Funny how that works.

  69. 10 days to prepare for an 1-11 team coming off a 52-0 shellacking to the Rams.
Only appropriate we laid the biggest bomb imaginable on Pearl Harbor Day.

    Fuck Harbaugh.
    Fuck Kaepernick.
And fuck those Japs back in ’41.

  70. NJ49er says:

Depending on the status of Marcus Martin, this O-Line may be shuffled once again.
We’re having problems running plays for whatever the reasons.
At this point, what do we have to lose by giving some reps to Gabbert?

I’m beyond fed up with this garbage.
    Try anything at this point.
Season has pretty much been lost staying the course we’re on anyway.

  71. Think about this for a minute. We were out-coached and out-tricked by a coach who is there on an interim basis. Add to that we thoroughly out-played at the QB by a rookie. There’s no other way to describe this…

We are a total embarrassment. Downright shameful.

    • Berger says:

Is it me or does it seem Harbaugh is getting outcoached by every coach in our division who he has to see twice per year? I’m finally agreeing with NJ that Harbaugh is playing checkers while the others are playing chess.

  72. Berger says:

It now looks that Harby knows the Singletary Sardine Can offense, directly from Univ of Michigan and not much else. Running that offense well did not produce a good offense. Trying an offense that makes sense didn’t work because the schemes sucked. The coach was in over his head. Sticking with Roman has proven to be Harby’s demise, just as I predicted. If the best a coach can run is the Singletary Sardine Can Offense he will always have problems scoring. We have just seen that fact play out. We’ve had injuries, like other teams, and now we see the coach doesn’t have the same shine without the best roster in the NFL. I believe Harby can coach but he is so hard headed he has met his end. This seems to happen to many first time coaches. They either learn or stay inflexible. Harbaugh will ,probably learn from this but if he thinks Roman is a good OC he will never be more than a coach with a winning record and no championships. He absolutely has to evolve his college offense mentality.

  73. NJ49er says:

I’m beginning to wonder if Kaep just can’t get up to speed too Berger.
He looks utterly clueless to me.

Mechanics suck because he’s rushing everything, O-Line not helping in that debate.
I seriously wouldn’t have an issue with him sitting against Seattle either.
Let’s see what Gabbert has picked up so far.

One thing Carr brought to the table today was an urgency to get plays off.
Kaep is still unsure of what to do, for whatever the reasons are.

Slow play delivery, too much BS motioning, whatever.
No problem for me in forcing a change with the OC at this point.
    What could be worse?
Same sh!t, game after game, after game.

Rattle the rafters and shake some life into this corpse of an Offense.
This crap can’t go on any further, it doesn’t work.

Here’s where the Baalke/Harbaugh debate can’t be challenged.
    Harbaugh chose Kaep.
Maybe this was a key ingredient in the falling out?
    Who knows?

    • Berger says:

This offensive scheme has Kap rattled no doubt. The players are not calling out Kap, they are calling out the schemes. That is the coaching. This is a college offense.

If the coach kept to the run today it would have helped simplify and catch the rhythm we’ve been missing. The QB didn’t change the personnel after every 6 yard run. The QB didn’t get zero pressure on Carr. Between the coach pulling a power play on the owner and the players calling them out the schemes publicly think we can’t change the coaches soon enough. The coach is even being called dysfunctional by the opposing owner, to his face. IMO, this would affect any young QB.

      • NJ49er says:

        Can’t disagree Berger.
It’s dysfunction alright, in too many places to name.
Totally embarrassing, no matter what flavor you want to call it.
        We’re a mess.

  74. Berger says:

Is there anybody out there who can explain how Frank gets about 6 yards on first down and Roman changes the personnel and passes on the next play? He did that so often today I firmly believe if we just ran the ball more today we would have won. Frank sure seemed frustrated about that after the game. Our play calling has zero rhythm.

    • NJ49er says:

      Can’t disagree Berger.
      We’re a masochistic Staff apparently?
We love to find pain in everything we do perhaps?

  75. snarkk says:

Amazing downfall for Harbaugh. Truly amazing.
Whatever is causing this dysfunction, it has to stop.
Losing to this sorry Raiders team is lower than some of the stinkers in the Nolan and Sing days.
They’re going to head into Seattle and barring a miracle, get their hats handed to them. Earlier today I figured 2-2 to end the year, but at this rate it could be 0-4. Maybe Jed fires somebody by tomorrow morning, but that would be even more dysfunction. Maybe he’s he’s holding out to trade Harbs on that last year of his deal. Whoever said Harbs was good for 3 or 4 years and then time for change of scenery was right. Well, 3 NFC champ teams in a row, and a SB appearance, it was good while it lasted. The window is now not only shut, the garage door just crashed down…

    • NJ49er says:

      Total impasse Snarkk.
Jed throwing an Uncle Eddie tantrum won’t fix anything either.
I’ve felt that Jim stays if he wants to stay.
Now I’m thinking he flat out doesn’t want to be here any longer.

He may have flamed out in terms of creativity or, he’s just too stubborn to accept changes within his Staff.

I’ve hoped for cooler heads to prevail but, it’s looking like this is fractured to the core.
As you suggest, the window was open.
Roster overhaul coming too I’m sure.
      Can’t pay everyone.

What bothers me most, is the most expensive player, looking worse and worse by the week.
Dread the sight of Kaep not being further along at this point, regardless of where we want to focus the blame.

      • snarkk says:

Yeah, I don’t pretend to know the answer to what the hell happened here.
Either Kap has hit his ceiling, Roman and Harbaugh are calling a game he can’t provide, or a combination of it. They might as well let him run, nothing to lose now. Gabbert might be an improvement. Kap looks fried and monosyllabism may be appropriate…

      • NJ49er says:

Monosyllabic is another word for Harbaugh.
        Where’d Kaep learn it from?

        Apple, meet tree.

  76. NJ49er says:

Read an interesting article on the topic of the new young mobile QBs on ESPN –
    Interesting piece from Jeffri Chadiha.
Focuses on Wilson, Kaep, RG III and Cam.

The name George Whitfield Jr appears in the article, along with some of his own commentary.
He should be a topic to throw toward Kaep going forward –

He apparently worked with Andrew Luck and happens to run an outfit of his own,
Whitfield Althletix – a specialized quarterback training academy based out of San Diego, CA.

He also is available for private QB tutoring from what I’ve been able to find.

    • Berger says:

NJ- That was good. Kap needs an OC that knows how to put together some rhythm. That is the number one thing to help his supporting cast. He also needs to work with one of those QB gurus this off season, like Whitfield or House. That part might be difficult since he will most likely be learning a new playbook. He’ll be fine if he can get with a good coach and system. He hasn’t started throwing off his back foot so he is not shell shocked yet but he might be getting close. Roman’s play calling is getting close to destroying him.

  77. Nipper says:

It’s 3:40 in the morning and I’m wide awake drinking some strong coffee. Yeah it’s over for sure.

  78. Berger says:

Am I the only one who is happy around here? Greg Roman is close to being gone! I’ll take the losses if it means Roman goes with them!

  79. Berger says:

The year isn’t terrible. Yeah, the Sharks choked a 3-0 lead in the play-offs and the 49ers window has closed. OTOH, my Giants won the World Series, the Warriors window has just opened and Greg Roman will soon be gone!

  80. Berger says:

I won’t be able to root for a 49er loss while the game is playing but sans a coaching change, the best thing that can happen to us at this point is 3 more losses. Like Mark Davis said, We stole the Raiders dysfunction.

Just look at the passes both QBs were asked to male. Carr, short quick throws with a few midrange crossing routes. He was under no pressure all day. Kappy? Slow developing passes where no one seems to get open. It looks to me that Kappy has no more confidence on his WRs or line to give him time to throw.

It is a team game and that includes the coaching staff. Kap is not blameless but IMO, at this point the coach is running a rudderless ship and the fans are asking the young QB for direction. Time for the FO to take charge.

What is the old saying? When in Rome do as the Roman’s do. Kap is just carrying out Roman’s offense.

What is the main reason the Raiders won yesterday? What is it I always say? Defensive lines win championships. Their D-line dominated and ours did nothing. Period, end of story.
