Game Day – Playoff Edition

Be still my heart. Coming down to the wire here. The Niners, looking to keep the quest for 6 alive, have looked unbeatable and unwatchable like clockwork. Every 3 weeks they lay a fresh turd after coing up roses for 2 weeks. Inconsistency is their only constant. The D has been dominating until it hasn’t. The offense has been record-breaking and TV-breaking. The run game is here and gone.  The passing game remains an enigma no matter who is behind center.

Green Bay on the other hand seems to be riding the wave of solid football, going 10-2 in their last 12 games after a 2-3 start.  They appear to be peaking at the right time despite their loss to Minn on the road to knock them out of the 2 seed. Aaron Rodgers is Aaron Rodgers. Outlandish numbers (4,295 / 39 / 8), and some of his throws last weekend were flat crazy. Throwing lasers on the run for 35 yards, the usual. They even seems to have discovered a diamond in the parking lot with the addition of RB DuJuan Harris.

Still, GB has a defense that really isn’t all that impressive. They give up yards in the air and  they give up yards on the ground. Their WRs are banged up, and they give up a lot of sacks. The Niners at least got the break they needed. They were pretty gassed after that marathon NE game, and staggered down the stretch. The effectiveness of Justin Smith remains a question, and the run game is something that needs to get going early to provide a lift to the play-action passing game.

But still and all, I like the Niners chances. I think the Niners can get to Rodgers with their base pass rush. Disguise a blitz here and there to force a turnover or 2.  I think the offense should be able to get the job done vs Green Bay’s D.

MILE HIGH MAGIC, a noted front runner was left at the gate, broke DEAD last by 8+ lengths and eased after 6F in the San Fernando Stks. Even Houdini couldn’t have made magic out of that shit.

John Harbaugh is a fool. At halftime he assumes the Broncos have to be giving Bailey help over the top and he goes to the run underneath. I’ll give Harbaugh that Baltimore was pinned back, but they created some breathing room and Flacco wasn’t looking deep. You’ve gotta keep looking deep and maybe throw into double coverage because Bailey isn’t used to help over the top and Flacco and Torrey have a good thing going. John Harbaugh is just assuming the Broncos have taken Smith deep away. That’s a mistake. You don’t go to the power run game down by a touchdown against Peyton Manning when Flacco’s deep ball is working so good. Come on, John!!!!! You’re playing Peyton Manning, not Alex Smith….. sheez!!

That Peyton Manning completion on 3rd and 10 says it all.
    Speechless.

  7. Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis says:

Another penalty results in negating the Broncos a 3rd dn conversion.
Manning fumble? I dunno. Can you say, “Tuck Rule?”

I hate it when the announcer and the zebras are rooting for the same team.

  9. Spitblood's avatar Spitblood says:

Okay…. maybe John Harbaugh isn’t so dumb. He’s clearly more patient than I am. Ray Rice up the middle to the 5 with Bronco safeties now playing two deep to defend the deep ball to Torrey. That makes sense. The game within the game. I love it. Getting nervous ….. almost game time. I need to hit somebody.

  10. Spitblood's avatar Spitblood says:

Seriously….. the Super Bowl and playoffs are when the nation sees the most cases of domestic abuse and violence. I’ll abuse anyone right now. Hour and half ’til game time. GOOOOOO NINERS!!!!!!

  11. NoFear49er's avatar NoFear49er says:

Someone needs to light a fire under Manning. Literally, he looks like a popsicle today.

    • Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis says:

If Manning is a Popsicle, that must make Alex Smith a Tootsie Roll Pop. How many picks from Alex Smith does it take for his supporters to realize he’s not Peyton Manning?

      One. Two. Heeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!

  12. phil fan's avatar philippinefan says:

Average spread for our Niners game = 7.5 points ranging from Niners by 36 (Spitblood) to the pessimistic “Leo the great” w/ da Pack by 14. NoFear has the Pack by four (4) and the rest are various shades of Niners winning.

  13. Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis says:

I love Peyton Manning. His quarterback play never ceases to amaze me. Fantastic.

  14. Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis says:

TD Manning!!! But to be fair, that was some GREAT goddamn blocking by the Broncos after the catch. And the guy who beat the murder rap is still grasping for air. Hahahahahahaha!

  15. Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis says:

If I never see the guy whose clothes was never found during a murder investigation it’ll still be too soon.

    FUCK RAY-RAY!!!

  16. Spitblood's avatar Spitblood says:

    LET’S GO NINERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. Alleykat's avatar Alleykat says:

God Almighty…Sure hope our game doesn’t come down to a FG attempt by either Akers or Crosby.
They would have to widen the nets behind the Up Rights all the way across the back front row.

  18. NoFear49er's avatar NoFear49er says:

Manning still needs three to cover. They’ll need to get the ball back here to have much of a chance for that.

  19. Alleykat's avatar Alleykat says:

And as usual with Joe Flacco in the Playoffs,he turns into Joe Suck-O.

  20. Spitblood's avatar Spitblood says:

Game over….. Appetizers served. Now onto the main course. LET’S GO SAN FRANCISCO MOTHER FUCKIN’ 49ERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
