Bobb McKittrick – Hall of Fame

The Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Awards of Excellence awarded offensive line coach Bobb McKittrick with his induction to the hallowed hall. He of course was the O line architect for 21 seasons, and was involved in all 5 Super Bowl victories. His favoring of smaller, faster, and mainly unheralded, linemen set the tone for the the quick short passing game, and the motion/misdirection that was the west coast offense. Nevermind the cut blocking he so favored as well.

Strangely enough, we are still in the midst of this philosophy. McKittrick led to our OC Mike Shanahan, which led to the Broncos going with smaller faster linemen and unheralded running backs to help power the John Elway offense, which led to Kyle Shanahan, the current cheap-skater of our current offensive line. So here we are still trying to build a small fast heap line.

Don’t tell Howie Long about never minding about the Chop Block Technique that Bobb McKittrick added to the Niners OL.He chased McKittrick up the tunnel in LA coliseum and wanted to beat the crap out of him after taking a chop block to his knees!

Yeah obviously Bobb was an elite OL coach but theirs no way that play which is now illegal should of been allowed it’s an injury waiting to happen..

That rep followed Mike Shanahan to Denver.

Not sure if I fully buy yhis, but it is a pretty good read.

We have improved, but our o line continues to worry me. Much like our baseball team ignoring the pitching staff.

We were so lucky with our oline in the 80’s. Players would go down occasionally but for the most part we became a well oiled machine. Glad for McKittrick. I don’t even know if he’s alive.

Sheesh, my vacation to Vietnam and Thailand can’t come soon enough (mid-July). Giants giving EVERY indication that they are going to be a boring shit show, e.g., 3 hits opening day, one hit today, and Webb getting his ass handed to him.

Per ESPN, Eldridge struck out 19 times in 40 plate appearances this spring. Extrapolate that to a season with 600 plate appearances and you get 228 strikeouts, which would be a big league record. It’s also only a slight increase over the rate at which he struck out during his 10-game debut last season.

Me? I TRADE HIS FUCKING ASS IMMEDIATELY WHILE HE IS STILL WORTH SOMETHING.  If being stupid burned calories, Johnson Jr. and the rest of ownership would be invisible.

Shit, he’s 21. He gets some time

Why? We have Devers. I’ll take Devers every day and twice on Sunday. We need pitching and hitting now. Also, this was mentioned almost a year ago, but there has NEVER been a first baseman this tall succeed in the MLB.

Lastly, minor leaguers are currency, i.e., they are potentially just as valuable in a trade versus betting on them to “graduate” from the minors to the show. I just think we already have an over abundance of players that can play 1st base or DH right now, including our suspect left fielder, Ramos, Encarnacion, Schmitt, etc.

Well Blade,1B Tony Clark at 6’7 hit 251 homers and over 800 RBI’s and 824 career OPS so it’s doable for Eldridge imo to get to those numbers are more.. and he didn’t start out until he was 23..

  7. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

My take is that he is going to languish on the bench and not be used on a regular basis. Devers is our first baseman. If Elldridge can hit immediately, then yeah, put him at DH. I think if he faceplants this season, he’ll psychologically question himself, where he spends the next few seasons on the Sac/SF bus shuttle. I just hope he doesn’t turn into Angel Villalona or Damon Minor or John Bowker. Sigh . . .

    We’ll see . . .

  8. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Well, at least Eldridge isn’t languishing on the bench here. He needs ABs and he’ll get them in Sacto. Devers is no long-term solution. He’ll give us a couple years. Then they can roll up Eldridge next year.

Giants needed a spark and Ramos threw out a guy at the plate.

Lee doubles/Chapman rbi single 2-1 and they’re on the board.

Gotta be patient with a guy with as much pop as Eldridge. Let him cook in Coast League for a month or 2.

Judge strikes again. 2 true outcomes vs. Giants–either K’s or homers.

Though the kid could have pitched around him instead of grooving one lol. On to San Diego.

Shanahan: “I don’t have a date for it, but I know eventually it’ll resolve itself,” Shanahan said. “Hopefully, we could get something for [him]. And I know we’re in no rush to do that. You’ve got to do what’s right for the Niners, and you’re not trying to hook up any other team as fast as you possibly can. Hopefully, we can get something for that, and it’ll take care of itself.”

Interpretation? Sounds like Shanahan wants to get rid of Aiyuk.

York: “I think anything’s possible, right?” York said. “We want to make sure that we have as talented of a roster as possible. First and foremost, he needs to get healthy and be able to perform. I think once that happens, he’s a really, really good football player.”

Interpretation? Sounds like York wants Aiyuk to stay.

. . . Or, maybe York is just “pumping up” Aiyuk’s perceived value???

BA burned the bridges in front of him, behind him, and lit the car on fire regarding his tenure here. And if they get a 7th pick I’ll be surprised. He got his deal and still quit on his team. Teams will wait, and the Niners will cut him in June. Then he and Deebo can have fun on the 5-12 Commandos.

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

If that RB love is there when Washington’s pick comes around they will take and that could turn the tables for them this year
