Injury Report

In what appears to be an epidemic with this 49er team, head coach Kyle Shanahan was involved in a serious car accident a few days ago. He suffered a broken nose, three broken ribs, broke his hand, and needed more than 40 stitches in his face. He is also in the concussion protocol for a severe concussion. He apparently collided with an SUV on July 14th.

One that matches the description of Brandon Aiyuk’s speedy SUV.

I kid, I kid. But really, no one on the team or in this front office is immune to the injury bug. It is now infecting the coaching staff. And today is veteran reporting day!

Fingers crossed for this years squad. It would be nice to see what we actually can do.

Story in Chron said this was right off downtown Palo alto, Alma and Hamilton right near busy University Ave. Someone got distracted in busy area and didn’t see other car…also PA PD said no reports will be made public, nothing will be forthcoming about who was at fault. Shan was in his Tesla, other driver in Mercedes SUV.

I used to hang out at a little beer bar on that corner.

I lived in couple apartments further south on alma for few years in 70s, and Hamilton was always street you turned off of to try and park (before traffic snarl of University), shop or whatever. Creamery was near there on Emerson, used to be Borders there (with music for sale), back end of old Varsity Theatre for movies and concerts, et al.

        Loved Downtown PA.

      • Winder's avatar Winder says:

I loved it too. I spent a lot of time there. I spent 18 years a couple of block on the other side of Middlefield and Willow rd. One of my first girlfriends used to work at the peninsula creamery on university av. And as a kid we knew every inch of the San Fransciquito creek from East Palo Alto to the Stanford shopping center Growing up there was a lot of fun.

Saw tons of shaows at the Keystone PA. Plus the dive bar nearby. Rose and Crown? THen 42nd Street. BBC. all kinds of danger.

      • Winder's avatar Winder says:

chuck- I can’t remember the names of the bars right there. There was another a couple of blocks away that let me drink there with some altered ID.

Prolly the Rose and Crown (Rose and Thistle?). Total dive but great place. Little square building with a small patio in back.

      • Winder's avatar Winder says:

I just remembered the one on the corner of alma and Hamilton was called the red lion. It still can’t be there that property is worth millions now. When I drank there I doubt anyone had 50 bucks.

Always different fake reports, I heard Shanny was near his house in Saratoga and did the 2 step t-bone with an SUV? Also why the conspiracy of not telling coaches/ players right away? And was he drinking?Inquiry minds want to know?

Use to drive from San Carlos to Palo Alto to get the best sirloin beef hamburger 🍔 at Kirk’s on University in 70’s -80’s with friends. Not sure if that place is still around? I heard they relocated in that shopping center on el Camino near Stanford,Town&Country?

I’ve seen shanahan in person dozens of times celebrating after big wins, my daughter and I hung out with the group a couple of times. He likes to celebrate with the guys, but he always has a handler who takes care of him. For people to question was he drunk driving, without a charge for that, is uncalled for.

He is a stand up guy, and when he does let loose a little, he has appropriate people around him handling his needs, transport etc.

I’ve seen Lynch many times also, but never after a game hanging out. I guess it not his thing.

Let’s not speculate and put his name in a poor light, he would have been charged, just like Romo was.

Most of the news is just self-interest bull and down right lies. I mean when our liar N chief does it 24/7 it opens tyhe door for just about everyone.

  6. willedav's avatar willedav says:

Once and for all, the traffic accident occurred many miles away from practice fields that are located on SF Bay side of 101 near stadium. I think substation speculation about anything to do with injuries is complete nonsense to begin with, but jokes about Shanahan accident having to do with it are ridiculous.

  7. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah, the hooraw around Shanahan or the team not releasing anything about the accident is a whole lot of bullshit. He has just as much right to privacy as anyone else. And this is obviously a big deal. Had it been a DUI situation and folks were arrested then that’s a completely different situation. That is instantly a felony on someone’s part.

Don’t think it changes much in the long run, but Shanny just needs to heal up.

Let’s hope he is just taking one for the team.

  8. Winder's avatar Winder says:

Not sure Height is even gonna make the team. I read the other day he looked slow and out of shape. Then today they carted him off the field due to dehydration. He should know how to take care of that stuff by now.

  9. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Jesus. I think he’ll get a ittle more rope than that, but not a good start.

    Anyhow, new thread is up.
