I see this Season starting with lots of motion and ground attack.
Our OL is going to take time to adjust to the new system, however, a WCO should help them once Alex and the WRs get into the necessary rhythm.
Game 1, lots of Gore and Hunter, 9ers win a close one. I do expect Harbaugh to take some deep shots though, VD and Braylon will be a nice duo.

Chuck Baalke was a well traveled football guy too. Scouting etc.
He simply didn’t have any other football guys involved with him, once Gamble bolted.
My contention all along is that football guys need other football guys to make it go.
Paraag is, and always has been, the fly in the ointment for me.
We’ll see just how this plays out when Shanny officially signs on.
If Paraag is the guy pulling the levers on Draft weekend, we’re fuk’d.
We know Lynch has never run a Draft. Never Scouted the College ranks. Participated in the Combine evals. NADA. ZIP.
Gamble might be the closest thing we have, (with even an inkling), of what to do in terms of taking Trade offers etc.
I’m 100% behind Lynch because he’s light years ahead of anything Tweeter and The Money Man have produced.

Baalke was the donor/host, from which the parasite, Paraag, sucked him dry for whatever he could glean in terms of football acumen.

Paraag couldn’t handle Harbaugh’s football first mantra.
Too abrasive, too demanding. So he smeared him.
Best thing that has happened to the 9er franchise in years, yet they couldn’t handle him.
Now that Baalke is tossed overboard, they turn to a neophyte duo?
Smacks of a power play to me.
Paraag has 2 weaklings in the process now, thereby cementing HIS control as The Man in charge.
I’ll support ANYONE taking Paraag out of this equation.
Let’s just see if Paraag allows that to happen.
Young Shanny needs to have the stones to demand ANYONE he wants to assist him.
The more football guys, the better IMO.
My take on the hiring of Lynch is the team needs a culture change more than a numbers guy. I would think this means the scouting department stays intact for at least through the draft. Kyle Shanahan is young and confident. Lynch is young and played with a lot of winners, including Walsh as his coach in college. Baalke was a good talent evaluator bit didn’t pick a team that meshed. Enter culture change. We need a team that meshes, not just some good players.
Speaking of good players, the 49ers have many. We have an emerging D-line, we have a good O-line and we have very good DBs. The cupboard is not bare but we have some big holes to fill. QB, OLB, NT ILB and WR are needs. We have plenty of picks and a ton of cap space. I hope they don’t try to fix everything in one year. We shouldn’t fill positions because we have the cap space, fill them because a good player is available. Also, make sure they have the right attitudes, enter John Lynch.
Lynch was probably the only man that really wanted the job as defined by Jed. Jed probably told him the GM will have little to no power. The HC is already hired and he will make most of the personnel decisions. If it’s a poor draft, the GM takes most of the blame even though he had very little to do with it. . After a losing season the GM becomes the scapegoat for the entire organization. The GM will have to sell his house and beat feet out of town ASAP.
Your take on the situation is proof that we need a culture change. When I listen to Lynch on a broadcast it is obvious he is a football strategist and has excellent recognition skills. Add to that he is a fierce competitor and we might just be in great shape.
Walsh turned down the coaching job when Joe Thomas offered it up. Eddie fired Thomas and went back to Walsh the next year, hired him and then found a GM to compliment Walsh. Eddie was more interested in Walsh than the GM position. I see this year as an extrapolation of that situation. Of course many GMs would not be interested because their ego doesn’t fit the job that is needed for now. While many have their dobber down I see something positive. Shanahan is who we are after first and foremost. Most GMs don’t fit the description of what we are offering and it is good that they stepped aside.
I think it is a good hire too. It’s time to rebuild not only the roster but the attitude.

NJ, your thought doesn’t hold water. Baalke had Tom Gamble with him. He had an entire scouting staff below him. You act like he was the only guy in the building doing that job. There are scouts and evaluators up the wazoo. It was his job to sift through the info and make the calls. He is just a shitty talent evaluator.
