Speculation Station, Whats your Relation?

For all you School House Rocks fans out there . . .

Word from those wonderful league sources (what are they, fucking moles that scurry in tunnels between all the team HQs?) is that the 49ers are in the lead for the services of one Josh Norman, a very elite cornerback who is a surprise free agent from Carolina after they pulled his (franchise) tag. The battle for his services falls to us and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Two teams with $50 mill + in cap space. So he looks to score big.

And really, where would you rather live? The Bay Area, a cosmopolitan city with gorgeous weather, or a glorified retirement home?

Norman had 19 passes defensed, 4 picks, 2 pick-6’s, and 3 forced fumbles to go along with his 56 tackles  last year. No small feat.

Whatever the situation is, DO IT NOW, TRENT!!!

    To quote Chuck
    Just fucking do it !!!
We’re considered the frontrunner. Go Trent !!!

  2. unca_chuck says:

And this story still has legs. Sorry, ROB!!!

    http://www.milehighreport.com/2016/4/20/11476510/espns-adam-schefter-says-colin-kaepernick-and-49ers-are-headed

I still think it’s going to happen in Denver. Hoyer? Foles? Elway isn’t that stupid to hitch his wagon to any of those guys as his starting QB. Whatever the situation is, it’ll be resolved within the next few days.

  3. rob says:

I don’t see it CHUCK. If Denver signs Hoyer how much can they offer Kap ? They want him to take only 7 mil per as it stands now. Next year he can make 16 mil here. Kap loses 5 mil this yr. and 9 next yr, 14 mil total .That’s more money lost for Kap than Denver’s entire deal

  4. unca_chuck says:

Denver isn’t going to sign Hoyer. He’s dogshit.

  5. unca_chuck says:

They don’t want Foles either. Elway ain’t no dummy. He wants Kaepernick.

  6. rtfirefly says:

Great comeback by the Warriors without Steph only to lose it again at the end. Still fourteen to go. I expect Steph will return for Game 4, if only for limited action.

  7. unca_chuck says:

Prince and now Lonnie Mack. This is getting nuts.

3 of my favorite guys . . . all gone

    • Winder says:

I bought a lonnie mack album when I was about 15, he was pretty good. Never did get into prince very much but from the way it sounds he was pretty creative for quite awhile.

  8. Nipper says:

    Death is everywhere.

  9. unca_chuck says:

    But you are here, Nip.

  10. unca_chuck says:

    That’s the AC/DC I remember. Can’t count how many times I saw Bon and the boys . . .

  11. unca_chuck says:

Norman to the Redskins. 5/$75 mill.

Good to see us hoarding draft picks for no reason and gathering cap space to sit on.

Jed York, the Donald Stirling of football.

    • rob says:

Yeah let’s top that and land the guy. 5 years 100 mil. why not right CHUCK.

      • rob says:

The guy had all of four pics last year. Omg and two for TD’s
So two splash plays and all of a sudden he thinks he’s Deion fucking Sanders for chrissakes. Lol

  12. unca_chuck says:

He’s a shit-ton better than what we got, ROB!!! 19 passes defensed ain’t nothing to sneeze at.

    • Winder says:

It’s like Baalky lives in a different atmosphere than we do. Nothing wrong here, our roster is pretty much set. This fucking draft can’t come soon enough then all the bullshit will be laid out to see.

  13. Nipper says:

Niners are rebuilding. Expensive FA are not in the cards. Baalke must have the support of Jed York for his frugal ways. Lots of cap room and getting young inexpensive players is the York way. Make lots of money in Santa Clara with the monster trucks and low payroll Niners!

  14. Flavor says:

Norman would have been a nice sign but I never thought it was going to happen. Niners said “for the right price.” Look, when there are multiple teams interested you don’t get the player “for the right price.” And considering how fucked up our organization is and how it’s viewed by the rest of the NFL, you don’t get anyone *for the right price* unless they suck. You overpay to get good players to come here. That’s our new reality. We are the Warriors on the early 2000’s at this point…..

  15. snarkk says:

Funky vid from ’76 or some such in Melbourne, Bon and the boys in early days with a studio version dubbed on the video, my favorite AC/DC tune. Body blow when Bon bought the farm, never as good after, but they survived, that’s for sure…

  16. unca_chuck says:

That’s a motionless as I’ve ever seen Angus.

  17. unca_chuck says:

Again, though, why have cap space when you aren’t using it? There are any number of guys they could have gotten for not too much money. Now they have scads of picks, and sure they need them, but they could have worked out a trade up for Goff.

Ahhh, whatever. I shouldn’t fucking bother or care.

    The ownership doesn’t.

    • snarkk says:

I’ve resigned myself to a crap Niners team for the foreseeable future. I’m almost hoping Baalke has a crap draft again so he will be fired. The York ownership can get a stadium built, but I fear it will be a long time before a championship lands again in 49er territory. As long as the Niners have no QB worth a damn, we’re screwed…

    • Winder says:

      Yep.

  18. Winder says:

Feel the same way. But I already know our draft will be crap.

  19. unca_chuck says:

    Keep our expectations tiny.

Then we won’t be fucking whiny.

  20. unca_chuck says:

5 days to the draft. We might as well trade out and get even more picks.

At some point Baalke has to start hitting on these. I mean the law of averages has to turn in his favor at some point.

  21. Winder says:

    you knew it was coming

  22. unca_chuck says:

Analytics or common sense. Like A Smith and Rodgers, Wentz and Goff are pretty much the same argument. Bigger program, pro-style offense vs. smaller school lesser competition guy.

    • Winder says:

We need scouts that know the game and how to read people, in fact we need people throughout the organization that know the game. There are so many variables involved with football that I don’t really see the value of analytics.

  23. unca_chuck says:

Tom Gamble has a lot of NFL experience. So did last year’s coaching staff. Baalke as well. The X factor is Jed. If he’s directing Baalke not to draft guys that may be too costly down the road , we’re fucked.

No idea if that is the case, but it would explain the last 4 first round picks. Fliers or reaches that don’t stand to break the bank down the road.

    • Nipper says:

Monster Trucks are cheaper. The overhead is lower.

    • Winder says:

Yeah, I am sure we have some qualified people in the organization. But, somewhere along the line we really don’t draft well and even though I want to I can’t put all the blame on Baalky. We have a scouting dept. that is supposed to find the BPA but we continue to swing and miss around 90% of the time. That is what I was trying to say. We need people who can Identify quality players especially on offense.

  24. unca_chuck says:

Talk about slow on the uptake. This is patently obvious to anyone paying attention.

    http://www.sfchronicle.com/ultimate_access/?utm_source=SharedArticle&utm_medium=banner&utm_campaign=SharedPromoA

Baalke s full of shit. His draft from 3 years ago was not very good. Nor 2 years ago, and especially last year.

  25. NJ49er says:

So much of the process involves maturity as well.
Nice to see stats, and production in College, where the competitive lines favor the Big U Scholarships and their ability to recruit.
When shopping for talent, Scouts looks for ‘scheme fits’ as well as the ‘potential factor’.
Hand a College Star a Brinks Truck full of cash and, often, the fame and fortune gets in the way of taking the next the step to becoming a Pro.

I’d take the ‘lunch pail’ guys over the ‘silver spoon’ College stars everyday of the week.
Gimme the guy with something to prove, vs the guy that thinks he’s arrived, simply because of Draft position.
I’m fine with a development plan.
Prove you deserve it, put int he work, you’ll get paid.
Odds improve with additional Picks as well as being at the top of the Rounds certainly.
More importantly, find guys that ‘want it’ for the Ring, not the cash.

  26. rtfirefly says:

I’m behind today; I missed the 4th.Thirteen to go, but real bad news: Steph sprained a knee. Just before end of the first half he slipped on a wet spot on the floor about which he had earlier complained to the refs. He was obviously rusty when he was in and the Warriors didn’t gain the upper hand till the 3rd when he was gone, but still…

Burying the Rockets Wed. night in Oakland. Steph?

  27. unca_chuck says:

Sure didn’t look good for Steph after the game. But he was walking. Very gingerly.

The big white guy fell right next to Steph. 1/2 a second before him.

    Not very good floor management.

  28. rtfirefly says:

Johnny Football got indicted for misdemeanor assault. He already paid her off so nothing will happen, a slap on the wrist maybe. His career is DOA, though, unless Jerruh still has a crush on him. Too bad he’s such a jerk. The kid had talent.

  29. unca_chuck says:

What’s the old saying? Million dollar arm, 10 cent head?

  30. unca_chuck says:

Of corse his best game as a viable QB will forever be his game against us.
