Word is now that the deal is off between Denver and San Francisco on dealing the enigmatic quandary that is Colin Kaepernick. Kappy won’t take a $5 million pay cut, and the team isn’t willing to eat that much salary either, so here we sit. With a QB that is getting paid $12 mill, and who may or may not even be our starter. Frankly I’m shocked that Kappy didn’t split. If he wants to stick it to the 49ers, his best bet would be to leave and take Denver on a nice playoff run as he worked to rehab his image in a new town.
As it is here, well, he DOES have a chance to do the same here. As in rehab a tarnished image. Chip’s style of go-go offense would seem to be suited for Colin’s game. And Chip likes athletic QBs that can move. A match made in heaven, right? Yeah, right. It comes back to the QB competition between Gabby and Kappy this preseason. And if Kappy can’t beat out the likes of Blaine Gabbert, then he’s mailing it in for a seat on the bench. A la RG III last year. And we all saw how that worked out for RG III. Back up money on a desperate team.
I don’t get this at all. Alex Smith didn’t want to leave here as well, even though he had plenty of opportunity, albeit for much different reasons. Kappy? I have no idea. He came into the league as a humble man-child who was honored to be here., and in the NFL Now he’s guarded and arrogant, hiding behind a surly and off-putting attitude. I blame Harbaugh.
Seriously though, I don’t get the thought process behind this. Kaepernick had the opportunity to go to the defending Super Bowl champs and pretty much be handed the starting job. Play well, and he likely gets a restructured deal for his make-good year in Denver. Instead, he comes back to a team that he (apparently) alienated due to his actions in the clubhouse. He has a tough row to hoe here, and the chance that he puts this team on his back and carries it to the playoffs (or even respectability) is a long shot. Here’s the story:
And yes there’s more!
You want some more? Well, here’s some more. Right here on the floora. How about you, Fauna? Ya wanna?
a little zappa is just what the doctor ordered.
Chuck I think there’s more than just a passing curiosity about Kaep’s leadership qualities.
Whisper campaigns can certainly come from anywhere but, when I see him sitting on the sideline, completely detached from Coaches and players, it makes me wonder.
Add to that, the comment Boone made, about Bridgewater not being a prima dona, and it’s just another reason to wonder, just what his team mates think of him.
No doubt he’s seeking starter money.
Problem he’s encountering now is, he lost his job last year.
Injured? Perhaps. But, he’s gotta make a commitment to work for the Deal he has or, accept the fact that other teams don’t see the same value right now.
If he isn’t dealt by Draft weekend, I’ll be anxious to see just hard he’s focused on regaining his starting job.
He’s still running the risk of losing money in SF, as he did last year, if he’s benched in favor of Gabbert.
I don’t like the fact that he’s the one asking out, regardless of reasons.
I simply don’t think he’s confident enough to prove he deserves the deal he’s working under.
Bad juju when the leader doesn’t want to lead.
NYJ are going after some Cap relief now too.
Reports that they’re targeting D’Brick to reduce/restructure his deal.
Talk about Cap H3LL?
NYJ wrote the book.
Revis has bilked them out of Millions over the years.
Now, he’s being paid QB money, while they’re trying to find money to pay a QB.
Can’t make this stuff up….
Hope Baalke makes a move on Mo before this all comes into focus.
They can’t begin to think about keeping the F-Tag on him without any money.
Revis – 2016 Cap number – $17Mil
D’Brick – 2016 Cap Number – $14Mil
Then they’re strapped with Mo looking at $15Mil
Muhammad Wilkerson signed a 1 year, $15,701,000 contract with the New York Jets, including $15,701,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $15,701,000. In 2016, Wilkerson will earn a base salary of $15,701,000. Wilkerson has a cap hit of $15,701,000.
Now?
What/how to pay the QB?
Well Kap just saw what happened to RG iii. Backup money on a shitty team after his demotion. At what point does it sink in with him? Who knows? It may or may not. He has the tools, he just has to commit to whatever pans out.
Mo is not coming here Imho I would never offer him more than 10 mil per plus incentives. He won’t come here for that. Sone team will offer him 12
Rob it’s symantics.
NYJ have no Cap space.
They’re painted into a corner.
And, they’ve got to pay a QB.
How?
Regis was a MAJOR mistake.
We have money, and, a QB that can start.
Tic.
Toc.
Revis
BLEEP II…..!
Fuck the Jets, fuck the Bronco’s, fuck our FO, and fuck any player that doesn’t want to play for us.
Fuck
Sheesh. I’m turning into nipper now.
It’s opening day, Nip!! Haven’t seen you on Flav’s blog.
Sniff…….I can’t get on anymore. Boo hoo……the life of Nipper is never easy. I just hope I passed my Echo test.
You can’t get on to oneflapdown?
Now this is funny

Good luck, John.
NJ, I don’t take anything coming out of Alex Boone’s mouth other than self-serving bullshit. He’s flipped on just about all his comments these past 4 years. He’d have been working at Taco Bell if it wasn’t for the 49ers. What will he say when Minnesota is 7-9 and missing the playoffs? Fuck him.
Kap had 5 million guaranteed reasons not to go to Denver — unless they paid him. That’s a no-brainer IMO. I’ll take the $12 million and a clipboard, thanks very much…
He’s going to Denver. Kubiak talked to Manzeil for God’s sake,
Rocky Mountain High?
Spitty agrees with everything I say 100% down the line in his latest screed, and calls me an idiot.
Ya got me there, skippy. Hyuk!
What’s even funnier is he contradicts what he wrote 3 days earlier.
Spitcakes indeed.
Maybe his “castle” is sinking into the mud.
In the game of shifting Cap expenses.
The NYJ were successful in terminating the D’Brick Contract, via retirement, which I’ll assume absolves them of any further Cap implications?
Then, they turned around, and took a heavy Cap number off Elway’s budget, by accepting Clady’s Contract.
Let’s see if that buys the NYJ another year with Fitz?
Still doesn’t seem to address the Mo situation however?
Well, that clears the way for Kap cap space in Denver.
Or is it cap Kap space?
Take your pick Chuck – Certainly doesn’t bode well for NYJ at the moment.
Both teams are still looking for a starting QB.
NYJ did Denver a solid for taking some money off their books.
Clady redid his deal for NYJ – Now? Can he stay healthy?
D’Brick earned his money by playing on Sundays at least.
I !
I farted around in the Super Bowl.
I’m really getting tired of the comparisons everyone’s making between Russell Wilson and our beloved Kappy. Sure its nice to have class, character and integrity but there’s also something to say about having a nice sneaker collection, hanging out with gangsters rapping in the ghetto, spending long hours at the tattoo parlor and chillin with the homies. Yes class once did matter but shit is long gone, it took me years to figure out that the raider image is off da hook and instead of criticizing, joining in is what we should’ve been doing all along.
I’m waiting for V to start his own girls softball team. Getting a tattoo on their asses would be the first requirement. After that, use your imagination.
I am a teapot. silenced!
Well all is not lost…….at least Bullit isn’t here. That’s a positive.
