Well, best laid plans and all, the Kappy situation remains in flux as Denver hasn’t moved on their offer, and Cleveland, being Cleveland, may have scared off Kappy already by shedding center Alex Mack, RT Mitchell Schwartz, and WR Travis Benjamin. Last thing he wants is to come into a team that has is shedding talent and is looking to draft a QB anyway. He could (and very well may) stay here for that, despite his admiration for Hue Jackson.
No, this trade is about Denver. I’ve been thinking all along that this is what he wants. This is certainly what Denver wants, as Gary Kubiak has not been shy about his desire to get Kaepernick. The Niners want a 2 from Denver or a 3 from Cleve, mainly because the diff is 2 spots in the draft. In other words, a 2 from Denver IS basically a 3rd round pick from Cleve. A 3 from Denver is 30 spots lower. Denver just signed Mark (dirty) Sanchez, but no one sees that as anything but what it is. A backup signing. Denver has made noise about getting Ryan Fitzpatrick, but Kubiak wants to run a more dynamic offense than what Fitzpatrick would offer. Elway has admired CK from afar, as has Kubiak and Wade Philips.
The Fitzpatrick to Denver talks seemingly would bring the Kappy/Jets scenario back into play, but there haven’t been any whispers around that. Yet. It could happen, but much as I hate to say it, I hope Kaepernick finds his way to Denver and does well there. The 49ers seems to be only adept at shooting themselves in the feet like old Sourdough Sam used to. The 49ers now are a collection of disorganized parts and pieces put together with no sense or rhyme. Chip Kelly is walking into a buzzsaw. And Trent Baalke is on his last legs.
This draft is fairly huge in the immediate future of this team.
Bottom line..
If the GM/HC/Coaches/Scouts can’t ALL get on the same page, nothing will ever get off the ground.
If you’re adding unnecessary interference from Ownership to that mix, you have what we are.
DYSFUNCTIONAL.
I’m all for budgeting, and building from the ground up, but, if Ownership is applying pressure to win now, we’ll end up going the route of DC Danny.
He pissed all over Vinnie Cerrato’s job duties, grabbed the biggest names in FA along the way and, succeeded in turning things into a 3-Ring Circus.
Then, that process runs good Coaches out as scapegoats.
See the similarities?
We’re headed for the Big Tent too.
Fortunately, they haven’t succumbed to throwing away the Cap Reserve just yet,
That’s where the ‘cheapo’ factor comes in for Dr Daddy and his minions.
NJ- Cmon what does Jed have to gain by scraping the team. He might save on salary’s but that’s just a drop in the bucket compared to the financial gains he would have by fielding a winner. His big mistake is listening to Baalke. This whole thing is Baalke’s baby lock, stock, and barrel.
Winder the whole front office dynamic is predicated on the GM and HC working together,
If I’m Trent, and the minions are involved, as it appears to be, the GM is nothing but a straw man.
I simply ask the question, what other GM in this league has an MBA evaluating players?
Of course, Trent wears the title, he recruited Harbaugh, sought Gase as well.
Suggests to me he wanted an Offensive assistant of sorts as his HC.
Did Paraag influence the meltdown that ensued between Harbaugh and Baalke?
Could it have been an inside job to smear Harbaugh simply because Paraag had issues with him and/or Kaep?
I truly think it’s the other way around.
Trent is being influenced by Paraag.
Seems just a bit curious to me, that Paraag has now been ‘reassigned’, after the damage has been done.
I still can’t fathom how ‘The GM’ is out recruiting Gase, only to have Tomsula thrown into the equation.
It’s not so much about saving money, as it is having a GM title with an MBA/Whiz Kid attached to his duties.
Makes no sense to me.
I’m sure Harbaugh knew the structure when he signed on.
What blew it up smells more to me like interference occurring between the GM/HC relationship.
Simply an opinion….But it doesn’t add up for me.
Was it Vinnie Cerrato’s Baby in DC?
As stated, Trent is the only football guy in this mix, yet when he’s sought football guys to work with, something mysteriously gets in the way.
I also don’t believe ‘The GM’ hired Chip either.
For whatever that’s worth, at least Chip is an Offensive guy, which fits the M/O.
In conclusion: Is anyone an optimist when it comes to this team? We need new people at the top and a new GM. “Holding tight” isn’t good enough. “You’re fired!” should be the words of the day.
Maybe we should get Trump in as our next GM.
NJ- you might be right. The difference between Jed and Snyder/Jones is that everyone knew they ran the show. How much influence Paraag has in the process of drafting no one really knows. In the process of FA he probably has a big say into what goes on. Baalke doesn’t seem to me like a guy who is just a figurehead (strawman). His job description means he runs the team and drafts who he wants to. There is a lot to speculate about this team but the buck still lands with him.
In conclusion: No one knows what the fuck is going on. Including all the people at 4949 Centennial Blvd, Santa Clara, CA.
BLEEP…….(very loud)!
Right, Winder. Paraag is pointed to a lot as having too much influence and being the source of the leaks, but if it extends to potential draft picks based on what they think they might have to pay them down the road then we are fucked.
But I can’t imagine any GM working under conditions like that.
In the words of Baalke, “We’re holding tight.”
Your New Era York 49ers-
Not your Old School Eddie D 49ers-
In conclusion-
A total…
House of Tards 😀
Bleep
How about Sebastian tretola in rd 3
Pass rushers will be there in two Imo
asons with double-digit sack totals, including 12.5 in 2015. The former Cowboy also ran the second-fastest 40-time (4.63 seconds) of any defensive lineman at the combine.
Dodd also posted 12.5 sacks last season. There is a debate among analysts over who will be the first Clemson pass-rusher taken in the draft between Dodd and teammate Shaq Lawson.
Nassib led the nation last season with 15.5 sacks and six forced fumbles for the Nittany Lions.
Calhoun is a three-time All-American for Michigan State and set a career high with 10.5 sacks in 2015.
Rd one I can’t see how we don’t go with Stanley
Remember whatever is out there talent wise……..it will not be enough. This year is going to long, tiresome and futile. Until Jed and his GM vacate and finally declare their incompetence this story will not improve much. Let the losing begin! I just hope Bullit doesn’t lose his maid. That would be too cruel to wish on anyone.
Not according to V, Nipper. He’s right about parity. Any team can rise quickly.
But this year is dependent on the draft. And little whispering from the front office.
It’s time to pray. Oh lord I’m ready for that Mercedes Benz. If not now…….when? The Niner’s keep losing talent. What should be done? Oh lord……
If Goff is there, Rob they almost have to take him. They can build the line with the next 3 picks. Esp if we trade Kappy for some picks.
Sure I get people not liking Kaepernick, but I don’t get that people want the team to get fleeced in a trade. Like it is some sort of justification for trading him.
Denver says he’s worth s 4th but they don’t have a 4th to trade. Strange, eh? They are posturing an waiting. Get their 2 and give em one of our 6s.
It’s all about the negotiating process Chuck,
We want a 2, Denver puts his value at a 4.
Hoping of course, we’ll settle for a 3.
Biggest concern for me, is that Kaep wants out.
If you’re not going to appreciate the Contract you signed or, you don’t want to compete to keep it, don’t let the door hit you in the A$$ on the way out.
News flash for Kaep,
All you have to do is beat your backup, while playing with a clean slate.
If Cleveland seems like a better option to him, there’s something terribly wrong with his status as a leader in his current locker room IMO.
News flash for NJ:
http://www.ninersnation.com/2016/3/16/11250796/san-francisco-49ers-officially-the-worst-drafting-team-in-the-nfl
“You’re Fired!” Clean house now!
Yeah, we are pretty fucking doomed.
Not a good look 12th –
It’s nothing I haven’t realized either.
I’ve simply tried to understand how all these ingredients are connected.
Trent wears the title, he takes the blame, no argument.
There appears to be no cohesion involved.
I’m simply glad to see Paraag out of the mix.
I’ve suspected there to be too much of a ‘Moneyball’ approach to the process.
My support for Trent is based in him being ‘The Football Guy’ in the room.
If he and the HC can’t agree on what’s to be assembled, we’re going to give Cleveland a run for their money as the joke of the League.
Meddling Ownership is my biggest concern in all of this.
No other way to slice it NJ, Baalke has not had a good run for a while. I get that its hard to draft guys for a stocked and talented team but that is becoming less of a problem.
The moneyball aspect doesn’t figure into the draft. I think you give Jed too much credit.
Baalke needs a solid draft this time around, no more injured for the future (possibly) players.
Finally a signing:
Huge signing. Since it’s the only one…
Not what I expected this year Snarkk, thought for sure Baalke would let it rip a bit in FA.
NJ, you act like the front office didn’t sabotage Kaepernick’s season last year. The same way they sabotaged Harbaugh’s season the year before. Whisper campaigns, indirect smears, on and on. Did he lose the players? Who knows? All that locker room shit around Nessa remains behind closed doors. As did the Ray McDonald shit earlier.
Winning cures most of that noise, but the fact remains the front office has made it very clear they want Kappy out regardless of what they are saying.
I don’t blame Kaepernick for wanting out.
I’d say it’s 50/50 with Kap. Nobody is going to pay him 12 milly, Browns reportedly say 8 mil tops. Thats a big payout for some hurt feelings.
Kap has to beat out his backup to start in a new system with a new coach that should suit him. Like NJ says, if he hasn’t got the balls for that then what use is he?
It is disturbing that management keeps getting accused of back stabbing whether it’s real or not, that’s not a good look for a franchise.
We will see soon enough, the clocks ticking.
NJ, I don’t think Paraag is meddling with the draft. Or Jed. In what way shape or form does that even happen?
Fucking Radnich is saying the free agency problems with the team now are because of Chip. And this draft is on Chip.
Huh?
At some point Baalke has to catch the heat for his inability to draft well.
I don’t see Paraag or Jed much in the draft either. Coaches yes and maybe the Harbaugh/Baalke problems started there, who knows.
Is Chip tainted? Probably, somewhat, but the players are mostly about the money. Strange to me that Baalke has followed his usual MO and laid back during free agency. I figured he would throw a few bucks around to try to make a statement that he and the team are serious about improvement. What’s the use of leaving the money for the next GM if he gets fired at the end of the year?
Chuck I’ve read reports of Paraag having a ‘numbers’ (read as Moneyball), database on guys as potential Draftees.
Let’s call it a Draft Calculation which crunches stats?
If they were tinkering in Draft Math, it has to be assumed it influenced FA & certainly flew in the face of Baalke’s football mentality/instincts.
It’s now become more math/business than coach/player relationships IMO.
I lobby for the Football Guys, not the business guys.
No matter how I look at this, the suggestions surrounding Paraag as a quasi-GM do nothing but undermine the Football process.
It likely fits too, that Paraag got between Harbaugh/Baalke when it came to applying said ‘math’.
Baalke plays along with Paraag as Daddy’s trusted confidante/assistant for no other reason than to keep his GM job.
I’ll guarantee Harbaugh flipped out over that arrangement thinking he came to work with Trent, the guy that recruited him.
It’s a circus of Moneyball meets Old School Football fundamentals, where the lines are blurred and no one communicates in GM/HC/Player terms in our locker room.
Not sure where bakkenbuwwit gets his info, but the 49ers anf Faslcons have the toughest schedules in the NFL this year.
You’re welcome.
12th, it’s pretty much common knowledge that this front office has no problem throwing coaches, players, and even their own under the bus.
Yeah, Chip is tainted until he shows improvement both with his players, and with his W/L record.
Things were fine for him when he went 20-6. At least they were decent. A shit year and he’s tossed away. Much like Harbaugh, right or wrong. Again, though they both had varying degrees of subterfuge coming from their front offices.
Trent has never been one to make a big splash in free agency, but this is ridiculous. We need help in a lot of areas and I didn’t think we’d sit on the sidelines for all of it.
BLEEP!
Chip was given WAY TOO much authority in Philly Chuck.
He also tarnished his reputation along racial lines too.
Now he’s expected to revive our program after the Harbaugh Implosion?
Who the F*ck wants to step onto this rudderless ship?
Asking themselves, who is in charge and, who am I playing for?
NJ- Donahue was a football guy that walsh brought in. Look how that turned out. You gotta go with track record at some point and Baalke’s is not good at all football guy or not. Half of the stuff your saying is not provable at this point. Paraag’s job is all about money but his influence is totally unknown. Baalke should have been fired halfway through last year. That is Jed’s fault.
