maybe. What used to be filled with excitement now gives way to morbid curiosity. Game day. What used to be a rivalry for the ages is but a meaningless division game between two also-rans.
Oh well, the question is, when will I start work on replacing that faulty power steering pump? My Su days seem to be getting a little more wide open.
Shit, at this point all I want to see is this team making adjustments. They have no RB depth and cut their backup RB and feel-good story Jarryd Hayne. Nice move.
Jesus. Hard to get that Trent Baalke isn’t catching heat for building a team with no depth. Reggie Bush is no way a reliable backup. Two plays, one IR stint already.
Can’t get much lower than this. The offense is absolutely awful. When we do finally block and get guys open, invariably the pass is dropped. I counted 5 drops today among some fair to middling QBing. Again, though, pressure all day. No run game. Hard to win when the line loses every battle.
If the team is quitting on Kappy, then I fear what happens when Gabby comes in. The Rams are not very good offensively. Fuck this sideways.
I thought there was little way we could get worse than last year on offense. Well, I was wrong.
The line blocking is dogshit. We can’t run block. We are out of RBs. We started well with quick passes and no-huddle. Since it nominally worked, they stopped doing it.
What can they do? Replace the coaching staff? The defense has been fair to adequate amid the big plays theyve given up. But criminy when your offense gets shut out of the end zone for their 3rd game in 8, well, you suck.
Acceptance is the first step to recovery.
Dump the OC, it hasn’t worked. Change the O line players on the right, can’t be worse anyway. Dump Reggie Bush, he has contributed nothing anyway and bring in a vet. Try to resign Hayne and give him some real opportunities. Cut McDonald. Trade V. Davis if they can. Play the young guns, wins are no longer a frame of context, evaluation is.
Fuck. TRY a deep ball.
Dumb pass. Triple coverage.
We used to eat Jenkins for lunch.
Shit can the TE centric O, they kinda did anyway. Start Boldin, Smith and Simpson, he earned it.
Crabs just made a great catch ball slightly behind him while running a slant. Then he got hit by three different Jets simultaneously, bounced off and went on into the endzone. Who wanted to dump him?
“Hey do you guys miss me yet?”
– Greg Roman
Ten yards on 15 carries by RBs… Kappy under 50% complete and no TDs…. 2.9 yards gained per offensive play, while allowing 6.1 to the Lambs.
Not going to win many games with that shit.
This team simply is not even remotely good, in fact it’s one of the worst in 49er history. And the blame for that lands at the feet of our Dynamic Duo, BaalkeMan and Little Jed.
It’s 1978 all over again…
I think they miss the very good O line Roman had to work with more Grumpy.
Not to say Geep is good either but given the god awful players they keep playing its hard to evaluate him, but the bottom line is Geep keeps playing them so he gets to pay the price.
Bush, suspected torn ACL.
They gotta fire Baalke.
Hayne out, Bush in. LOL
Bush is apparently finished with that knee injury.
He was before IMO.
for this season.
Out of bounds on his own on a punt return. Irony doesn’t get any better.
Perhaps the Niners could move to LA instead of the Rams…….just kidding……
Moving to Santa Clara was horrible enough.
I’ll be glad to see the stinking Rams back in LA. I wonder if the Raiders will go too.
Chargers look like a lock to go back to LA
Roman is what, 3-4? Yay. Who gives a fuck, Grump? You think Roman would be doing well with this line? Get real. Look at Fangio. 2-5 with the Bears. What does it mean? Nothing. Like giving a shit how Stevie Wonder is doing on the 2-6 Chargers. Crabs is a great 3 in Oakland. Whoopie. Yay for him. What a dumb move by us? Wouldn’t make a goddamn bit of difference. Unless Crabs can block 3 guys.
What is insanely galling is your backup RB is an injury-prone 30 year old guy. You just canned your punt returner so your injury-prone RB IS your punt returner. So he catches a punt on the 9 (wrong) and runs backwards (wrong). and proceeds to get hurt (wrong) trying to get some yards even though there was a penalty (wrong) which leads to a safety (wrong) as they are backed up to the 2.
There’s your 49er replay.
Baalke has to go.
Pears continues to play. Same with Devens. I don’t get it. Are the others worse than them?
Like running Hayne, he’s worse than the PS guy? How is that possible?
As bad as the team has been, did anyone here think the team would “top” last games’s mediocrity? Well, they sure did. Unbelievable.
I figured they would do better than 8 wins, but that was said before they lost the starting RT Davis and lost Aldon Smith.
Doubt those 2 would make enough of a difference anyway.
Tarts played well today.
Tartt
So, what’s next? Keep trotting Devey and Pears out there and wait for Kap to get broken in half? Keep this incompetent coaching staff in place? Baalke? This is an unmitigated disaster with no end in sight.
I don’t get it either. Devey is a revolving door, Pears is a back up quality guy and Martin has been horrible although I didn’t see anyone better on roster except the injured Kilgore.
Boone had a few whifs today too.
You guys are hardier folks than me, if you’re able to sit through a Niner game these days.
This blog is into self-torture. To put up with this season you have to enjoy hurting yourself. Ouch!
went with wife, twiscos (and their girlfriends) to the raider game (long story). the raiders looked pretty good (though we left before the end of the third quarter. great move by us!). was following this train wreck on the blog (keep it going chuck!). I think Balke has to go but who the heck could you get? and there is no way in hell that the jedster by himself could identify an up and coming asst. GM who might be a good fit. i can’t think of anyone on the ash heap of history that is the current crop of unemployed GM’s who i would even consider. someone said earlier not to trade staley but you’re going to have to give up value to get value and they have so many holes that they’re going to have to get 2-3 for 1 to be able to patch them all. The key to successful franchises is the ability to judge talent. someone in NE is doing that very well so far. if it was easy, more teams would be doing it. the fact that so many guys get hurt just exacerbates the issue of having more talent, i.e. depth, on your squad. the tomsula pick didn’t impress me and he’s not looking great so far but Lombardi would have trouble with this team. and again, who are you going to get that will be willing to step into this mess. they really kind of look like the raiders at the end of the Al empire when all he could get were people like kiffen etc.
I’m convinced now, more so after the past two games, that Tomsula is out of his depth, and painfully so. He is in no way NFL head coach material. He seems like a good guy and he is a good position coach, but letting him continue as HC proves nothing and hurts the team even more moving forward. That permanent look he has on his face that at first looked like rapt concentration, is nothing more than pure deer in the headlights. The decisions he’s made regarding who plays and who doesn’t, not forcing Bow to take fewer snaps because, “The guy wants to play football,” and things like not going for it while losing in the 4th quarter are all evidence of his incompetence.
This whole thing is going to have to be gutted, but the truth is that doing it right now probably wouldn’t be that productive. If Baalke is still running things next year, we’ll all know for sure that he has compromising photos on file of Baby Jed having a roll in the hay with a smooth-skinned Filipino lad. He has got to go.
This is all very upsetting to long time 49er fans, but the immediate future doesn’t look very promising.
After the Thursday night debacle against the Squawks Jimmy T said the coaches would examine their scheme and figure out what the players do best and tailor the scheme to that. They had 10 days to do it. They didn’t have their best RB or WR today and chose to cut their PR/RB the day before the game. Leaving those facts aside, the O line was the same set of guys, the scheme they employed, except for the first series, was the same stuff. They had no answers with very similar results.
I keep saying the same thing week after week. Change the O linemen. Yes its possible things won’t work any better but keeping the status quo has been a disaster. I have to question the coaching, particularly the OC. I said before this game that it would be a big test for the OC. He has failed badly. Not doing more to change the personnel is beyond reason.
I read that 2 players, anonymously, think Kap should be benched. They think it would clear his head and that he would still be in the long term plans for the team. Earlier in the year I said if they don’t change the O line they should bench Kap, mostly because I think he has very little chance to succeed behind that line and a high chance of getting injured. They brought in Andrew Tiller, part time, and have continued to rotate Devey and Tiller and that is the only change they made.
Kap played fairly well today given the circumstances and had a lot of drops, some on 3rd down. He also skipped 2 off the dirt unforced and missed Patton open in the end zone and Smith unguarded at the LOS. No doubt, if the line was playing well Kap’s weaknesses would be a minor part of his game yet weaknesses they are. This team is now in full evaluation mode and Kap has earned his time under the microscope too. I do think his confidence is shaken and I also tend to believe the reports of him being a loner in the locker room.
The bitching from the other players will get louder if they suck on O this badly next week and it is likely they will bench him coming out of the bye as well as fire Geep Chryst. In reality that will probably spell the end of his Niner career. Next week will be crucial for Kap one way or another, the QB always takes the blame, it’s a possible career game for him.
Spam monster ate my post!
It’s back
Sitting Kaep would not help things along very much, I don’t think. If Gabby goes out to and they suck what then? Say hope you had a nice day off, CK?
I Get shaking things up but QB roulette never works.
Man, I don’t know. Baalke is hiding. Jed is hiding. Tomsula may be in over his head but he’s got nothing to go with. And he’s the only one talking.
Kap looks bad. When his WRs are jumping up and down at the line of scrimmage to get his attention that nobody is guarding their ass within 15 yards, and he just doesn’t even look out there and hands off to the RB for a nothing into the line, well, that’s atrocious.
What if Gabby comes in and actually throws a TD or two? Maybe he wouldn’t, but he might at least look at the wideouts to see the coverage when he’s under center at the line of scrimmage…
In conclusion: BLEEP this stuff……I’m going back to bed….zzzzzzzz
I didn’t see he play but someone was uncovered? And he didn’t audible to it?
Yeah, that’s not good. Couldn’t get any worse. Well actually it could.
Yesterday’s game was a special teams disaster. They constantly fly out he Niners deep in their ow. Territory. Holding penalty was especially stupid. Why is he even there if he’s hurt? Fuck.
Torrey Smith out on the edge, completely uncovered. Only the deep safety to beat and Smith is a burner. Kap just didn’t look. Kap also missed Patton wide open in the end zone.
Kap is shell shocked from what I can see and is not playing with confidence which is no surprise.
Shell-shocked? Kap isn’t shell-shocked, he just flat-out sucks. Besides. Those with severe shell-shock just think they’re Ethel Merman.
This is Kawakami:
http://blogs.mercurynews.com/kawakami/2015/11/02/its-probably-time-for-the-49ers-to-bench-colin-kaepernick-as-a-matter-of-trust-or-the-complete-loss-of-it-by-all-sides/#more-29489
I don’t agree with everything he says of course. In a nutshell he wants Kap benched and give Gabbert a chance and demote Geep in favor of Sparano, this week.
I hate to say it but if they lay an egg on O next week I think they have to sit Kap or lose the faith of a lot of the players in the locker room. A team that stinks week after week hurts all of their future paydays in terms of contracts. What good is a great WR route if he never gets the ball?
Geep has dumbed down the play calling no doubt. Not only because of Kap missing plays but because of the O line being utter crap. I think he had to. Would Gabbert make a difference? Like Kawakami says, maybe not, but it shows the coaches are willing to try to improve although I would have tried changing out the O line personnel weeks ago before talking about sitting the starting QB but the situation has outgrown that now.
I would give it one more week but without some serious improvement they have to do something drastic.
Drastic? I’d suggest removing their helmets, lighting their heads on fire then proceed to run around the field while fireworks shot out of their ass. Maybe then someone would bother to watch.
Getting tough to watch 90 mins that’s for sure.
12th, myself and a few others said the same thing about Kap a few weeks ago; bench him if only to give him a chance to step back, clear his head and get a new perspective on things. I still think it’s a good idea.
As for him being a loner, so what? There’s been reports coming out of Seattle the past couple of years that Mr. Happy is annoying his teammates amid accusations that he acts “too white” for their tastes These guys can’t win it seems.
BTW, Aaron Rodgers’ stat line looked like ass last night after getting Kaepernicked the entire game by the Bronco defense. The old adage may be true for Kap, no one could succeed behind that slab of Swiss cheese the Niners have the gall to call an offensive line. Offensive is right.
It’s just a fact. Montana would struggle behind the line.
Yeah, constant pressure does that to a QB. See Peyton Manning vs Seattle 2 years ago.
The only reason I’d even entertain putting Gabbert in there is to show what little difference it makes who’s back there. When he goes 6-28 fort 96 yards with 6 sacks and 3 picks, then will people feel better about Kappy? I don’t know, but these coaches doing nothing different while the offense staggers around is terrible.
Oh well. I can’t even imagine how giddy the cocksuckers are doing on Skeebie’s blog.
“Yay! We suck! Look at me! I said we’d suck! Oh Jimmy H!! Bend me over again!!!”
Like I said before the season started, Harbaugh knew good and goddamn well that he was walking away at the right time. Just like Pete at USC.
I don’t think Lurker, me or anyone else really thinks of Gabbert as our savior Chuck. The bottom line is they have to do something different and they really haven’t done much towards that. It reaches critical mass when your teammates start calling (anonymously) for a benching.
I have no doubt that a solid line fixes 80% of Kaps poor play overnight but they don’t have it and have only given lip service to changing the lineup. Now its reaching the point of a broken QB and the options are less by the week.
As I said earlier, if they start Kap this week and the O lays another egg I would be surprised to see him after the bye, which is a pity.
I get it but we all remember all too well what happened with Alex Smith and the cast of retreads baking him up.
The seasons got worse.
But the underlying truth remains that the QB play will suck until the line is fixed.
Yes its true and it may implode again but it looks like they need to find out. Too bad the coaches weren’t more proactive earlier.
Tomsula didn’t give Kappy an unqualified endorsement at today’s presser for a change from previous. Falcons, then bye week and… benching or the kiss of death (“He is our QB”) and then benching?
Looking that way RT.
