As disappointed as I am about the Tomsula hire, some prominent players are fully endorsing him. This includes Anquan Boldin, Alex Boone, and notably, Vernon Davis. While there’s something to the whole inmates/asylum thing, and the additional fact that VD is in his contract year and should endear himself to the coaches, there has to be a certain amount of relief from the players. Boldin said it should be easier to play for Tomula over the notoriously high-strung and volatile St. Jim.
Beyond that, the only coach they are keeping is Tom Rathman. Good news as I think at this point it would be a good idea to keep Gore. He’s the heart and soul of this team, and this is a commodity they need to keep this train on the tracks. If Gore showed anything last year, it’s that he can thrive given some decent blocking. Give him a 2 year deal and let him ride off into the sunset. He can go about 15 plays a game and he, Hyde, and Hunter can all share duties.
Boone is onboard as well. Sure, kumbaya doesn’t equal wins, but a looser atmosphere could be what these guys need. Again though a lot rides on the staff Tomsula brings in. He’s been in the league a long time and hopefully has developed relationships with potential staff members. One can hope, anyway.
The guy I like at this point for OC would be Chud, the Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground dweller, Rob Chudzinski. He’s a tight end friendly coach who did wonders with Cam Newton his rookie year. Callahan would be OK I guess. He’s had his moments. Trestman? Ehhhh. He cratered in a big way in Chi-town, and his Canada work? Whoop-dee-fricking-doo.
Forty Niners Forever 
Harbaugh and Tomsula stopped talking to each other for about the last month of the season according to reports. Is this because Harbaugh discovered Tomsula was in fact a rat leaking shit to the press or is it because everyone and his Mother was told Harbaugh was done in SF and Tomsula was likely the new boss?
What happened to the absolute certainty that Jed was the rat undermining his HC? Or that it was Jed and Baalke in cahoots together against Harbaugh?
Now we have certainty that it was Tomsula all along because he did become the HC and the defacto beneficiary of Harbaughs demise.
How come no blame is attached to Harbaugh in any of this? The guy never lasts beyond 4 years anywhere as a HC and didn’t at the Niners. Why do we think Harbaugh was offered a 4 year contract to begin with?
Does winning override all else? Can a HC behave however he wants with no repercussions because he has a winning record? How many of you would allow gross insubordination to continue in your business? How about in the ranks? Is that a good lesson for the players to see and model their behavior around and is that why the ink blotter filled up? Does anyone else wonder about player holdouts and unhappiness with contracts coming from the example of the HC leveraging his situation in the second year of a 5 year contract?
I think Harbaugh was a good coach and would have preferred to see him play out his contract provided he got a new OC or removed himself from meddling in the OC scheme if in fact that was the real issue. I also would have much preferred to keep Fangio on staff, he is the real loss IMO.
It couldn’t be done and Baalke and Jed played their part in that, but so did Harbaugh, and to deny or overlook that obvious fact is childish bullshit. Pointing fingers in only one direction is a feel good exercise in futility. A way to expunge anger and nothing more.

12th- Harbaugh leads in a way that makes people feel uncomfortable. It is intentional and it is his style. We know because he himself talked about it in an interview earlier this year. He even had quotes from a book that teaches this style. All I can say is what goes around comes around. Winning is supposed to be fun, he had some. When we went .500 there was no joy in Mudville. It was a big part of his demise.
The opinion I heard yesterday on CSNBA was that Harbaugh got wind of Jed telling some that he thought Tomsula could coach this team better than Harbaugh and that Harbaugh got pissed about that. So he stopped talking to Tomsula.
Don’t you read my shit, 12th? I’ve heaped a lot of the blame on Harbaugh. Mainly for the offensive woes this season, and the fact he wouldn’t do anything about Roman.
No one outside a few blogs dare besmirch St. Jim’s name. Winning DOESN’T overcome all but it does a great deal to cover the stench of a fucked up organization. I said before Harbaugh was hired that he could fix all the communication problems by winning. He became the face of the organization. The buck stopped with him. Whether that success pissed off Baalke, and by etxension Jed, is all mental masturbation.
We’ll never know what went on behind the scenes, but the last 9 months of this, Harbaugh was dragging a flamethrower behind himself. He burned every bridge behind him.

I am real curious to see what Baalke is gonna do with the draft and the type of players we get. I don’t know the input Harb’s had but I am sure he had some say in the drafts. And, this whole FO/HC drama has always been a two way street and maybe some day someone will write book about it but until then we probably will never get the true story. I hated to see Fangio go too but in the end he probably needed to go more for himself than the team.

Not necessarily. I’m a fan of the running game and not a fan of the Singletary Sardine Can Offense. The two philosophies for running are load the hole with numbers and power through. Teams load the box to stop that and it is not usually effective. Plus there is usually only one WR to gout for a pass. That is the Singletary/Harbaugh way. The other way is how the Cowboys did it this year. Spread the formations to get the traffic out of the box and get the ball to the RB in space and let him do his thing. The nice thing about doing it this way is if a pass needs to be dialed up the formation is already a good one. If this is how Tomsula wants to run I’m all for it.
