I see this Season starting with lots of motion and ground attack.
Our OL is going to take time to adjust to the new system, however, a WCO should help them once Alex and the WRs get into the necessary rhythm.
Game 1, lots of Gore and Hunter, 9ers win a close one. I do expect Harbaugh to take some deep shots though, VD and Braylon will be a nice duo.

It’s pretty funny going back and reading the early posts. Not that I wasn;’t worried, but after the 17 points were put up, I knew all we needed was a drive and a stop. This is where I was happy to see Harbaugh stick with the run game. The TD the Niners gave up at the half was fucked up, but at least we showed we could score onAtl’s defense. This game was definitely tough on the DBs. Even when the Niners got some pressure, Ryan was able to complete passes for 1st downs.
Is Flacco better? Do they run better? I don;t think so. But Atlanta was surely better than I thought at the point of attack. They handled our pass rush, and blocked well enough for Ryan to hit his reads. Again, though, I think our defense is much stronger than NE’s and we should be able to slow Balt down enough for our offense to take over in the end.
Bro Bowl, indeed.

I think the Niners have beaten the best QB in the league in Rodgers, and the best WR tandem in the league in Jones and White. Flacco ain’;t Rodgers, and Bouldin is good, but I think we can stop him. RIce? I like our ability to stop any RB.
It’s funny thsat all these talking heads don;t get how teams that play man are able to key on VD at the expense of Crabs, and the Kappy scrambles. I figured VD has the game he did because Atl plays zone. and they would do a good job of taking Crabs out.
With these teams (49ers and Ravens), both want to run, to get some big plays in the air, and beat the holy fuck out of you with their defense. I think we are *slightly* better, but it’s close. They weren’t right much of the year with Suggs and Lewis hobbled but that’s over. I’ll make my call now – a very close game, but we’ll squeak through. 28-27, 49ers.
Like I said earlier, if it comes down to Akers, just shoot me.

I think if it’s even reasonably close, Harbaugh goes for it on anything under 4th and 7 from inside the 35 yard line. Fucking Akers is left every goddamn kick.
Just watched the game a second time. Aldon Smith’s pass rush was taken out of the game because he was jamming Gonzo. I don’t know if I like that strategy. It reminds me of Mike SIngletary saying he wanted to see Brian Westbrook pass block better. Go with your strength. But Aldon did look strong when rushing the passer, and Dennis Pita isn’t Gonzo – although Pita is good. Aldon should be good to go for the Super Bowl. He needs to pin his ears back and rock Flacco.
In conclusion………some you guys were both ridiculous and amusing when you were posting early in the game. Never post bad stuff when watching the game. Anyway it’s entertaining looking at these comments.

He was the only ESPN bullshitter to rate Squawks over Niners when the playoffs began, the other 7 had the Niners rated higher.

OK, soap box moment over, now back to reading about our NFC Champion San Francisco Forty Niners in places that acknowledge their achievement.
Well, a lot of people thought the Hawks would have been tougher for us than the Falcons, even though we’d be at home. That was wrong, of course. But who cares about Sando anyway? The Niners have been treated royally by the media everywhere, as they should be.
Just watched the game again. Colin Kaepernick is amazing. The best part of watching the game over is watching Kaep on the sidelines and you can actually tell what he’s saying. After the throw to Vernon for a TD he ran over to TD and said, “THAT’S HOW YOU PLAY!!!!! THAT’S HOW YOU PLAY!!!!! Then mid game he got up in T Brown’s grill, yelling, “Pull your side of it together.” Kaep was pissed and not backing down when getting in T Brown’s face.
To me, that’s impressive. Kaep is putting guys in check who’ve been here for years. He’s taking over this team quickly, and it’s not like it’s false confidence. In the NFC Championship Kaep was a leader on the field and on the sidelines. Forget the throws (which were dynamite). Forget the running. Kaep is a leader on the field and off.
Harbaugh was gushing after the game talking to Leslie Viser. He said, “Our qb just played a great game,” and Harbaugh’s right. A lot of that win is because of Colin Kaepernick, and not to beat an Alex Smith horse, but Alex Smith could never have overcome a 17 pt lead or a kicker who couldn’t hit water if he fell out of a boat. That’s why the qb is so important. To compete, and win Super Bowls, the qb can’t just “hold his own,” (which Smith never could even do that), but the qb needs to be amazing to help balance out the rest of the team’s deficiencies. And guess what? We now have an amazing quarterback.
Colin Kaepernick and Jim Harbaugh could be the next Bill Walsh / Joe Montana combo in the NFL. And the way things look right now….. I’d bet (as long as Trent Baalke keeps drafting well) the combo wins three or four Super Bowls. Oh to be a Niner fan. How lucky are we?

Twin there are two contests right now 1) Predicting who will win various playoff games and 2) Season long weekly contest to predict the score and mainly the spread of the Niners games. We’re down to that last one now = Super Bowl scoring spread. You’re calling fer a one point Niner win, Grumpy I think has them winning by 2.
Spitter, you were wrong about how both games would go down-.best to just be quiet. And the only thing we know about how the season and postseason would have proceeded with Smith is that the games would been different- no one knows what the outcome would have been So just STFU and enjoy the win without trashing a class act. Kap was great, celebrate that.
Twin – You were wrong about Alex Smith his entire career. Class doesn’t win Super Bowls – ask Ray Lewis. And I was right about one game, wrong about the other. Last time I checked we weren’t betting the spread.

Actually, the fact that he was in the league and playing in the NFC title game last year makes me, his Mom, and a guy in Chico the only people who *were* right about him.

Kaep has only played in 9 or 10 games now. Think how this kid will improve and what skills he’ll have age 28-34. Plus, he basically has only one serviceable WR (Crabby). Niners have to pick another WR in their big draft this year, a big guy who can run. Manningham is back next year hopefully, and get another tight end with hands. Give Delanie Walker his wallking papers, he’ll probably drop ’em. AJ Jenkins has to be considered a bust. You have a totally empty WR closet, so you draft one in the first round, and he doesn’t even play his first season? There’s no way this guy will be much of an impact player. Baalke swung and missed on that one…
I think Moss could play until he’s 40, and we definitely want Manningham back. Jenkins will be fine. We need a tight end, and, like you said, we need to dump Walker.
