We are getting to the crux of the season here. The Niners can hit these playoffs anywhere from the 1 seed to on down to the outside looking in. I don’t see either happening, but winning the West is the main goal. Green Bay has a little easier time of it, and they may very well pass the Niners for the 2 seed. Seattle likely wins as well tomorrow, so the Seahawks game next week could very well determine the west should the Niners lose tomorrow. I think they win, for some crazy reason. I think Kappy has a big game, and I think the defense does well enough to slow Brady and co.
I hope these guys worked on using the speed they suddenly have out there since AJ and LMJ look to get a lot more field time with Hunter, KW, and Manningham out. I would love to see more screens and passes to the flat to give these guys the ball with some green around them. If NE plays it like Miami and St Louis did, the slants will be there. Take a few shots with Randy and AJ, use the speed. Defensively? Well, the hope is we don’t start slow, as NE can jump on you pretty fast and throw up a 21 spot in short order. That being said, how is a good question. The Niners worked over GB pretty good with their base D. They didn’t do as well vs Minn and the Giants. They will likely have to throw some blitzes in despite the risk of getting burned.
Well, I see Brady throwing 40-50 times- when Seattle beat them, he was intercepted twice, 2 of his 4 for the year..That game also exposed their secondary, and some typically stupid game and clock decisions by the Best Coach on the Planet. I’d like to see Kap look deep and our defense keep everything in front of them-yeah, sort of a prevent, but lay the wood on the squirts- Welker and Woodhead. Also, there’s been success disguising coverages, moving around pre-snap, faking the blitz and dropping back, anything to make it hard on Brady deciding on check offs. And take advantage of the inevitable fuck up from Bellyache.
Sando says that with Manningham out, the primary beneficiary in added playing time is Delanie Walker. I’m trying to contain my excitement. When your number 2 WR goes out with injury and is replaced with a TE, then WR is clearly an area that could use some improvement. I probably wouldn’t rag on Walker if his catch/drop ratio was better.
It’s going to be wet and slippery in MA tonight. Rain/sleet, IMO that heavily favors the short passing game, not the running game. I see a lot of slipping on the part of RBs. We can take some shots down field but the OL has to have a better game pass protecting.
Sando doesn’t know what he’s talking about. But Walker has gotten some med to deep looks recently. Hey, if it works, i don’t care who’s getting the ball, just as long as they catch it.
He’s got numbers to back it up:
“Mario Manningham has a shoulder injury and will not play against New England. That probably means additional snaps for second tight end Delanie Walker. Walker has set season highs for playing time in the two games Manningham missed previously. He was at 68.3 percent or higher in both. Walker has played 54.5 percent for the season. “
This would be a great game to get Vernon involved in the offense again. If they get up more than ten points on us it would be a good game to show why we made the switch at QB, too.
See that Denver vs Ravens score, that will be the half time score of the Niner game only it will be NE 17- 0
And you see what the Ravens just did!!! They PASSED the BALL DOWN THE FIELD!!! Hope Jimbo is watching his brothers team!!!
Of course that is probably what the Niners will end up with too!! 3 points
I find it disheartening that other teams have WR’s that get passed the 1st down marker to catch passes.
I find it really disheartening that other teams have QB’s named: Brady, Manning, Rodgers, Brees, Romo, Big Ben, Luck…
Throwing in the towel a little early eh?
Using the Ravens as an example of anything ain’t a very good idea either. 24-3?
No help from the Bears. As of yet. After scoring 7 early, Cutler and the Bears are flailing.
I don’t really get the disappearance of VD either. Walker is getting a lot of looks though. I want to see Jenkins, LMJ, and the newfound speed. Outside shit (screens, sweeps, delays) should work on these guys.
Vernon hasn’t been a part of the offense since the Chicago game where he was the top receiver by far with 8 targets and 83 yds and a TD on 6 receptions. How do you leave a weapon like that out of your game plan for the following three weeks?
Dennis the problem is not the QB. The problem is the Niner coaching staff still believe in the run!! All those QB’s you named, all of their game plans call for passes down the field. Why the hell did they pick up Moss??? Really, why???
Kevin, the Niners will lose if they can’t control the ball and the clock.
GB with a monster brain fart . . . gotta love that.
Green Bay playing without a kicker decides to let Chicago back in the game. I think Roman might have called that play in.
How many years have you been an offense coordinator kev? You think you know better than Roman and Harbaugh? Relax and enjoy the game.
Cutler tries to give it back.
Defending SB champs not doing so good
Alshon Jeffrey with his second offensive PI to negate a big gain. This is the same boob who punched the guy early in his bowl game last year was ejected in the biggest game of his life. Once a mook always a mook.
LMFAO!!
GB got away with PI to take over on downs.
