Sooooo, Now What?

Excuse the wonderment here, but the 49ers find themselves in the exact same uncomfortable position that AZ was a a scant few days ago. And that was the distict possibility that they could lose their nominal starting QB Kevin Kolb, AND lose out on the Peyton Manning sweepstakes. Well, in a few short days, Kolb re-signed with AZ, and Peyton is knocking on our door. For good, bad, or indifferent, the Niners could very well lose Alex Smith AND fall out of the Manning race.

And, yes there are some that wouldn’t be too sad about that. Until you look at the fact that the alternative is someone like Josh Johnson (unproven), Matt Hasselhof (decomposing), or even Matt Flynn (unproven as well). There are others who say whoever the starter is, Jim Harbaugh will wave his majic QB wand and produce another winning starter a la the job he did with Alex last year. Given the fact the Harbaugh set the bar impossibly high after one short year,  Manning would have 2 years tops to produce a Super Bowl win for it to be considered a good move. Even if the status quo holds out, the bar is set to improve on last season. Which again means Super Bowl or bust. Heady stuff, yes, but QB roulette at this point is a very dicey game to be playing when Harbaugh has preached team team team since he arrived.

At this point, losing out on both Smith and Manning would be a fatal mistake. I’m not sold by any means on Manning being the missing piece to take the Niners to the championship (he may not be healthy or STAY healthy to play), and Smith did his part in spades to get the Niners close, but I’m good and goddamn sure that fricking Hasselhof ain’t the guy. Neither is Johnson. Both those moves would be strictly placeholders until Cappy Kaepernick is ready to go. Flynn? Who knows? And in Hasselbeck’s case, Cappy would be starting by week 6. In other words, without either Smith or Manning, the Niners definitely regress. Sure, they’ll likely make the playoffs, but again, that ain’t the goal going forward. The goal is Super Bowl XLVII. Anything short is failure. I don’t think Hasselhof/JJ or even Flynn get the Niners all the way. They screw up this QB search, and this season is likely a back-pedal.

It is a scary scenario at this moment knowing your starter is “Capt Cappy” and your backup “Beam me up Scotty Tolzien are the only signed QB’S on the roster and neither have thrown a pass in an NFL game…Yikes!

    Cappy got in a few passes last year . . . 6?

From Mike Sando;s ESPN NFC WEST Blog:

“We should not underestimate this organization. York has led a successful push for a new stadium. He went against convention when hiring Trent Baalke as his general manager, with better-than-expected results (think NaVorro Bowman, Carlos Rogers, Donte Whitner, paying Ray McDonald instead of Aubrayo Franklin). The organization secured Jim Harbaugh as head coach when Harbaugh was the hottest and, it turns out, best candidate.”

There’s damage already- players now know that Harbaugh’s word is worthless. Cohn has tried to portray it as just cold- like Walsh. But I’m unaware of Walsh going anywhere close as Harbaugh has to feign friendship with a player as he goes behind his back to replace him. Walsh was cold- but he was no liar…

    • snarkk's avatar snarkk says:

How do we know Smith didn’t know all along, or that Harbaugh wasn’t up front about it from the time they went after Manning, whenever the hell that was? He and Manning have the same agent. THAT is a head scratcher to me, how an agent can provide proper service to two QBs after the same job…

      • twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

Smith is said to be considering changing agents, which certainly suggests he wasn’t “in on” it…dedfinitely looking like a tag team gang bang..

  6. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Be that as it may, the Niners are going to sign Smith if they don’t get Manning. Cold-blooded of Harbaugh? Sure. But hey, it IS Manning. Smith is a big boy. He’ll be fine once OTAs roll around. Football in the end is a business. Players go through this all the time. From stars to also-rans. If Montana can get dicked around, anyone can . . .

  7. twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

And now Alex is said to be considering changing agents,…and the offer from the Niners is said to be 3 years at 8 million a year. He should spit in Harbaugh’s face over that.

Flynn threw for 6 TD’s in a game that was either a throw away game at the end of the season or Rodgers was hurt. Not even Farve did that. Might be worth a look.

  19. Way I heard it at Skeeb’s blog is that supposedly Manning called the 9ers and asked if we are possibly interested in his services. If so what is coach and GM supposed to do? Tell him to buzz off without a look see? Forget about possibly upgrading the team?

What? Our guys are covering all the bases. This is bad?

    Huh?

    • twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

If Manning called us it was because the Niners let it be known that they would be interested if he showed he was interested- double sneaky.,..

    • twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

“Tell him to buzz off without a look see?” Actually, yes, that is exactly what you do when you’ve claimed you’re *not* interested and said your caddy is the man…

  20. twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

    That is conjecture.

  21. Alleykat's avatar Alleykat says:

So Harbaugh did strike one deal with Alex.Since Smith caddied for Harbaugh at the ATT Pebble Beach pro-am.He said he would do the same for Alex in next years event.Twin think he will renege now?

  22. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Irish, that was a rest game for Rodgers. Flynn did that vs Detroit.

  23. Flavor's avatar Flavor says:

The offer to Smith is his best option until and unless someone steps up and offers him something better. You don’t pay him MORE money than that if you don’t think any other team would even match what you’re offering. I’ve got no problem at all with them offering him 3years/8 mil a year. It’s only a *slap in the face* if another team comes in and blows that out of the water. Until that happens it’s “hit me baby one more time with those 3 years/24 mil”….
Personally, I think most teams are leery of committing to Smith because of the *Harbaugh factor*– minus JH, other teams aren’t as interested, in my opinion.
If the Niners are, in fact, using Manning to gain leverage on Smith then more power to them if it works. This is business, not romper room. And if Smith can get a better deal than the Niners offered him and the money is that big of a thing for him then he should take that deal. I don’t think he does though, he knows who butters his bread. He doesn’t want to QB anywhere that JH isn’t………

  24. twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

I don’t doubt for a minute that teams are giving Harbaugh more credit than is warranted for Smith’s good year. And,again as Poole correctly notes “,Does Harbaugh want to put his integrity on the line? That’s what he’d do if Manning signs with San Francisco. The implicit message to everyone in the locker room: Watch what I do, not what I say.” It’s not romper room, but even in the NFL, a man’s word is valued by those with integrity…
    And from Sando:
“Smith went 13-3 as the 49ers’ starter last season, won a playoff game, knows the offense, fits with the coaching staff and has earned the respect of teammates. But if the 49ers are going to consider other options, why shouldn’t Smith do the same?
The answer depends to some degree on if Smith feels comfortable with what the 49ers have told him privately. Does he still trust them?
If not, a free-agent trip to, say, Seattle would get the 49ers’ attention. How would the 49ers respond if Smith appeared close to signing elsewhere? Would they continue to wait on Manning if they weren’t sure about getting him?”
Their litrtle flirtation with Manning is not without risk to them, you know…

    • Flavor's avatar Flavor says:

And I absolutely support Smith if he looks around, whether it’s a trip to Seattle to re-gain a little leverage on the Niners or because he wants to move on. Again, he’s got to have another team make an offer for there to actually be *competition* for him……

  25. Irish Kevin's avatar irishman5574 says:

Just heard on the news Smith is looking to change agents

  26. Flavor's avatar Flavor says:

And I don’t think Seattle would ever commit 3 years/24 mil to Smith. Carroll and JH are enemies, how would it look if Seattle signed him away and he turned back into the *old Alex*? I’m not saying it would happen, I just don’t think it’s a risk Carroll wants to take, especially with the theoretical possibility out there that JH *made* Smith this year. Carroll could look awfully stupid holding a 24 million dollar bag if Smith slipped back to pre-JH play…….

    • twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

Craig’s right in the sense that if Harbaugh was lying about everything he said about Alex, the offer was a fair one..

      • Flavor's avatar Flavor says:

it doesn’t matter what JH said about Smith. Teams have their own evaluation systems, they don’t just look at what the head coach has to say about him. Again, if Alex has a better offers to weigh out there, more power to him.

      • twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

Harbaugh would have virtually all the say in what Smith would be offered. Remember: Alex is nothing except for Harbaugh.

      • Flavor's avatar Flavor says:

I’m talking about how other TEAMS evaluate Smith. They don’t give a shit what JH says about Smith, unless they’re simpletons and don’t have their own evaluation metrics…….

  27. twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

Yeah, I noted that awhile ago. It certainly suggests he wasn’t in on the charade..

  28. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

I’ve said it a bunch of times. Seattle has shit at QB. I’m very surprised they aren’t all over this. Even if they don’t think Smith gets all the credit, 3/24 is chickenfeed for a starting QB, and Whitehead/TJ don’t cut shit. And Henne? Right. If I’m McCloughan, I get Smith. But there is the fact Scotty has seen Alex at his not-so-best.

    • twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

Whitehurst is out, back to San Diego

    • twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

If McCloughan knows the game, he knows Alex has always been a good QB trapped in QB hell until this year..even now- they’d probably have won the Super Bowl if Harbaugh hadn’t inexplicacbly gone conservative in the NY game.

    • Flavor's avatar Flavor says:

the reason they don’t get Smith is the obvious one that I already noted. Carroll doesn’t want to get caught holding a 24 million dollar bag of *Smith* if it doesn’t work out. He’s a stud for JH and then reverts to shit for PC? PC ain’t gonna risk that……..

      • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

What’s their alternative? TJ? Henne? Please. 24 mill is nothing for a starting QB. The Giants just signed their fucking punter to a 5/13 deal.

      • twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

You’re arguing with yourself, I haven’t said Smith will go there, Chuckles is in on that more than I am. But anyway, as I pointed out before, they shouldn’t have offered him anyrhing. There were FORTY FA QBs available, I’m sure Harbaugh can turn at least one of them into Alex II for nothing…

      • Flavor's avatar Flavor says:

Chuck, you’re still not getting this. Carroll and Harbaugh hate each other. Forget the $. You think Carroll would risk signing Smith to a multi year deal and then the naysayers turn out to be right and Smith caves without his precious Harbaugh by his side? It would make him look incompetent at best and less than Harbaugh at worst (which is worse than incompetent in PC’s eyes)…….

      • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

I get it, Flav. But there’s the possibility that Smith HELPS Seattle, and hurts the Niners in the process. IOW, Carroll beats Harbaugh with his old QB. The possibility exists that the Niners don’t get Manning and they lose Smith. Going with Cappy, I think Carroll would like his chances going forward with Alex Smith as his QB.

I mean, Seattle signed fucking Kentwan Balmer for God’s’sake.

      • twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

Why are you worried about Kappy, Chuck? If Jim can make Alex serviceable, Kappy should be a piece of cake.

      • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

I don]t quite have that blind faith. Although I do have a friend in Reno that saw a ton of his games and said the guy is a stud player. I’d rather not see him thrown into the mix this early though.

  29. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

THe Giants defense had something to do with that, Twin.

    • twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

Yes, *something*. But besides the botched punts, the decision to run twice on 2 and 4 with Dixon was a key and curious decision. That was nearly as fatal as the punt returns. They were at midfield, leading, and as you noted yourself, even if he decides to run, using Dixon on his first two runs of the game was odd and Wrongo…

  30. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

My overarching point is, Smith would be better than what Seattle currently has. Is it a risk? Sure. Look at AZ and Kolb. That was a colossal fuckup that they just dumped more money on. The money for Smith would be pocket change. The risk is low. Flynn is more than likely going to Miami. Hasselhof won’t go back. Henne? Bleeeh. If anything, I’d think it would be Scotty steering them away from Smith, But if they go forward with TJ, they’ll go 7-9 again.

They have no one in their pipeline as a future QB. UDFA Portis? Nah.

  31. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

VERY cool. The Niners signed Mario Manningham to a 2 year deal.

  32. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

  33. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

  53. twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

Well, the Niners have to get him now, and I think they will. And think how lively the blog will after he goes down a couple games into his 5 year deal. The topics we’d have! Where will Harbaugh be coaching next? Is Baalke even employable now? Will Moss run a deep post and keep going?

    • Nipper's avatar Nipper says:

They’re willing to take tremendous risks. The behind the curtain story will be very interesting indeed.

  54. twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

Actually, according to Adam Schefter, Smith has put big pressure on the Niners now. I thought the Niner would be the favorites too, but virtually every poll says the Titans are the front runners. And Shefter says Manning will not decide based on the receivers a team has. Baalke and Harbaugh are in a tough spot. They can turn it into the Kappy era if they fuck this up..

  55. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Well, that’s the rub.Losing out on Manning and losing Smith would set this team back. I think they can mitigate the damage if Smith doesn’t leave before Manning decides.

  56. twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

Manning no longer limits Smith’s options, now he enhances them. Possible destinations are now Niners, Miami, Seattle, Cleveland, and even Denver. And if he signs elsewhere, he can go for even a 1 year deal- in fact it could be far better for him. Yes, there will be morons who think he’ll flop elsewhere, but in fact he’ll just upgrade his “brand” after the year and the Niners wouldn’t be able to sign his dog for 8 million…

  57. twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

BTW, Craig and I were talking about how teams determine a player’s value. I thought he was talking about the Niner offer to Smith- which is clearly a low ball insult. He was talking about other teams. Well, probably 75% of it is like real estate-comps. CLEARLY, the comp Smith was looking for was Kolb’s deal. Kolb has now played 5 years, played 28 games, with a 76.7 QBR. He snagged
    5 years, 63 million.

  58. Flavor's avatar Flavor says:

if you want to use real estate as an example you could also include the fact that you need at least 2 teams (buyers) to give the player (seller) leverage in the negotiation for his services. You can’t create competition for the player until you have at least 2 competing buyers. Until that 2nd offer comes Smith has nothing except a 3year/24 mil offer on the table. If he gets a 2nd (or a third) more power to him. But until then, why would the Niners bid against themselves????

  59. Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis says:

TF, is already trying to turn this into a “win-win” for Alex should Peyton sign here.
Did you remember to take your medication this morning?

BTW, isn’t the CRV 5 cents a can? I think my liquor store is gypping me.

    • twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

Well, it COULD turn out poorly for Alex, just as it could for the Niners, my dear tipsy Muslim friend. Already, I thank the Lord it was a Seattle blogger on the flight with Alex, and not Dennis Hussein Abd-Smith..,..

  60. twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

I was referring in this post, and I thought it was clear, that the 5 year deal Smith wanted before he became a free agent.was based on the Kolb deal. That has nothing to do competion. You are referring to now. No sensible person believes that Smith didn’t ask for more than the 24 million. As I said- his asking was undoubtedly in the range of Kolb’s deal. Now that he opted for free agency, your point is valid. it’s not valid when it comes to negotiations PRIOR to free agency, there is no competition permitted.

  61. Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis says:

And just to further piss off my Sunday afternoon, my kitchen sink is clogged.

I surer could use a snake right now…to stick up Alex’s ass.

    • twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

So here’s the gist of the contract situation BEFORE Alex went FA, IMO. He wanted 5 years 60 million. They offered 3 years 24 million. At that point it has nothing to do with second offers, there can’t be any. He proposes what he thinks he should get, they make their proposal. Now that he’s a FA, OBVIOUSLY he needs a second offer to create competition for his services.

    • Nipper's avatar Nipper says:

A good “snake” sure comes in handy! Sometimes a cheap handyman is even better. And for Alex another contract offer from somewhere……anywhere is just the ticket.

      • twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

You’re putting on a good show, Dennis Hussein Abd-Smith…but we all know you are the one petrified that Alex might go elsewhere and leave you wih no reason to live.
Grump surprises me, though. Why he’d be giddy with delight that he thinks Smith could possibly get screwed after this great season, is truly pathetic.

  63. Grumpy Guy's avatar Grumpy Guy says:

Seattle thinks so much of Alex that they signed backup Flynn before Alex even showed up for his ‘visit’. Wow.

    • twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

We don’t why Smith’s visit with Seattle was cancelled. Since Seattle invited him, the most likely scen\ario is that they think or have been told he’s going elsewhere.I think I told you to keep your dick in your pants until this plays out, boys.

  64. Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis says:

I thought I was having a shitty weekend until I got my weekly weekend horse racing tournament results. I finished in the 3.7% percentile.

I stink on ice even more than Alex does on a hot muggy summer night in Miami.
Miami? Did someone say Miami? I’d get used to that town if my name were Alex.

  65. phil fan's avatar philippinefan says:

Yeah players are staying out of it probably thinking “But it’s Manning”. Or “I better not cross Harbaugh-Baalke” or “hey it’s a business, what the hell”?

  66. twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

Of course players are staying out of it. Were you people raised in a holler? They’ll welcome Manning almost as much as they’d be ecstatic if Alex went back. Pretending the players don’t love and support Smith is yet another sign of the mental deficiency of DHussein’s minions..

  67. twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

The Denver Post says Smith will get that 8 million, in a multiyear deal with Miami. Manning had informed the Dolphins he would not be playing there and Flynn agreed Sunday to a deal with the Seattle Seahawks.
“The Dolphins then turned to Smith, who will get a multiyear deal worth about $8 million a year.”
So it’s Manning or Hasselbeck for the Niners, if the report is true….

  68. phil fan's avatar philippinefan says:

So the Smith era ends in Ninersville. Players on the team have publicly supported Smith all along. That was obvious to all but “a few”. Wisely da playas are keeping their yaps shut while the drama played out. Now we’ll hear what they really thought…soon as the new QB is signed.

  69. twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

They’ll “publicly” support whoever the new QB is and wish Smith well. What is it that Phil thinks they’ll do?

  70. Irish Kevin's avatar irishman5574 says:

So no Alex, no Flynn, welcome Kappy!! There is no FA QB left that I want. The Niners just took a huge step backwards!!! The Niners will be lucky to go 8-8 next year!! We as Niner fans just got it in the ass. In the Dr.’s office, the sound of the exam gloves being snapped on, Dr says just bend over this won’t hurt a bit! Make sure you use plenty of K-Y doctor

  71. Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis says:

“The Dolphins then turned to Smith, who will get a multiyear deal worth about $8 million a year.”

So what happened to that $13.3M that you said Alex so “richly deserves” and intimated that he would get like the contract “The Franchise” just signed with his extension with the J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets?

I tell you why. Because Alex Smith S-U-C-K-S Sucks Sucks Sucks!

  72. twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

Do you have that post where I said what he’d get?

    • Nipper's avatar Nipper says:

Come on Twin fire back. Dennis is by now rummaging for a bottle somewhere. Oops that’s rubbing alcohol, Dennis!

      • twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

Nip, poor Hussein is inconsolable, I truly fear for what he might do to himself with Alex leaving. I had cancelled the suicide watch, I hope I’m not too late to get them over to the home..

  73. twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

I think what we’re goiing to need to do is have that snake stuck up your ass, Hussein. Alex got the best he was going to get after the Niner outrage. Of course he deserved more than 8, but he was hardly in a position to wait and end up like the Niners might- with nothing. His deal will be restructured soon enough. In the meantime, Harbaugh has shown that his word is worth absolutely nothing . What he is pulled is not cold, tough business; it’s lying at an almost pathological level.Alex will be fine- SF won’t.

  74. phil fan's avatar philippinefan says:

Okay, okay I’ll pay 50/hour for football advice. 50 Pesos/hour and not a centavo more. While Manning and Smith are negotiating for big buck it’s only fair we dicker over the value of football advice. I’m prepared to go 50 per hourah. Part-time, day work only, no guaranteed money. That goes fer all a youse…

Think about it: $1.16 per hour. We got a deal??

  75. twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

$1.20 or no need to talk further. Just save it up and pay me at the end of the decade.

  76. snarkk's avatar snarkk says:

You have to figure that the Niners, upon entering the Manning sweepstakes, considered the possibility they would not get him, and that the fact of entering it would/could drive Smith to another team. They aren’t stupid enough to have not considered that as a risk, IMO. So, if that happens, they must not be that concerned about it…

    • Nipper's avatar Nipper says:

Good thinking Snarkk. There must be a plan B etc.

    • twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

Well, as Barrows says, they might not have-
“The 49ers figured that their offer was more than Smith would get on the open market. They may have miscalculated on that, and besides, with Smith it’s never been about the about the money. He went his first few seasons with the 49ers without even buying a car. He funnels a very large portion of his earnings into his charity, The Alex Smith Foundation, which benefits foster children in California.”
The notion that the Niners fucked up is a very real possibilty. Let’s see who they end up with..
      Plan B was probably Smith..

  77. Flavor's avatar Flavor says:

Smith leaving for the same dough, that’s funny. Well, the NIners set the market with their original offer and every thing is falling into place after that. At this point I’ll be forced to support a Manning signing, though I have low expectations for the outcome of that. It’s too bad that Smith got put in a position of having to race off to MIami in the middle of the night just so he could score a deal. He deserved better than that. Miami is not a good spot for him…..

  78. Grumpy Guy's avatar Grumpy Guy says:

Or you know, he could just wait around pathetically, willing to be our sloppy seconds.

    http://49ers.pressdemocrat.com/2012/03/inside-the-49ers/smith-willing-to-be-niners-backup-plan-to-manning/

I’m actually beginning to feel sorry for him. Wait – no, it was just gas.

    • twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

Could be true, but…Cole has an article on Brees and it’s prefaced by a statement from Mickey Loomis,
“Be warned, this is based on an article by Jason Cole from Yahoo Sports. He’s about as unreliable as they come in the sports media world. I wouldn’t put too much stock in what he and his “sources” claim, Mickey Loomis said”
Loomis is the executive vice president and General Manager of the NFL’s New Orleans Saints

  79. twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

Well, I think you would need to feel sorry for yourself, and Dennis and the other haters if that came to pass, wouldn”t you?
    Bizarre week, though.

  80. Flavor's avatar Flavor says:

Smith would be smart to wait. He’s got a much better chance of winning with the Niners. He stays with JH, he would have 2 new receivers to throw to and a stud defense. If Manning declines, the smart career move would be to just come back. There just isn’t an *Alex Smith* market out there that is big enough for him to leave the roots he has here and the CHANCE to the the starting QB of one of the favorites for the SB next year.
He’s actually showing his smarts by waiting this out…….

  81. twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

The article on Brees by Cole claims that Loomis wants to pay Brees like a “very good “QB, not a “great” one..
Anyway, I don’t think I’m ready to buy anything anymore, until pen gets to paper for anybody involved. There are writers throwing Big Ben out there as a 49er possibilty.

    • Flavor's avatar Flavor says:

the concept of an *insider* in any sport is a joke. They’re just all trying to get to twitter before the next guy, they could give a shit about anything that’s verified……
It’s better to just go with common sense and your gut………

  82. twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

You know, looking back on Smith’s tenure here, then the news he’s headed to Miami, and now-wait a minute- might be another 4 years… he just might never leave. Really, we know the guy’s smart, and if he’s as bad as his detractors say, he’s hornswaggled 3 head coaches, and 7 OC’s. Yeah, 8 million ain’t much, but that would his bump his earnings here to something like 75 million, huge bucks for a terrible QB -I figure he’ll be the QB until 2020, then OC for10, HC another 10 more, then he buys the team and moves them to La Jolla…

    • Flavor's avatar Flavor says:

haha, good one. Chuck that’s POTD, though I know you don’t pay much attention to that widget…….

      • Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis says:

POTD? Ha! Stop kissing his ass. That was like his 10th best today.
And his first nine all belonged to Nipper.

  83. Alleykat's avatar Alleykat says:

Damm…Why did that doofus Owner Dan Snyder give away all his #1 picks in the future for RG3?

Hell I wanted to see the Frank.Capra sequel “Mr.Smith goes to Washington play out.”

I’m gonna go pop some of Orville Redenbacher’s “Pop Up Bowl” popcorn and go watch Disney’s fourth installment of its “Pirate’s of the Caribbean” franchise. In other words, I’m probably going to go waste another 2 hrs. of my life.

Seriously? When has the fourth of anything that’s ever been made been any good? Now. If you want to talk about a good “fifth” being made? I got a long list there.

  87. phil fan's avatar philippinefan says:

We’re not in such a bad place really. Either we get Manning who impressed Harbs and Baalks -sorry couldn’t help it- in his work out plus with a few good receivers to throw to and a stout OL with our D we’ll be okay. OR we get Alex back after his great season with better receivers, etc.

Man I haven’t sang a round of Kumbaya like that since Chuck and I did that duet around the time they reupped Ahmad Brooks…

…or Manning’s neck snaps in the 3rd game, Cap promptly throws the game losing INT and Smith is signed elsewhere…

Naw gimme Kumbaya and some Jameson’s…

  88. twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

No Manning for you! Gone to Denver.

  89. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Reports are Manning is going to Denver.

    Dennis, nice knowing you . . .

  90. Irish Kevin's avatar irishman5574 says:

Yeah listening to The Herd, Manning has instructed his Agent to deal with Denver only. Good bye to Tennesse and SF.
