I Need a Remedy . . .

. . . for what is ailing the football team. Here we go once again with the trials and tribulations around the 49ers crack(head) medical staff. Yeah, guys play hurt. They want to be out there. They keep quiet about their injuries, but George Kittle is the latest to say he was hurting three weeks before he tore his achilles.

He said he tore ligaments in his left ankle in the week 16 game against Indy and kept playing on it. He said he overcompensated by using his other leg too much. He ended up missing week 17 against the Bears, but here we are with a major star with a major injury. Would it have helped for him to miss the week 18 Philly game? we’ll never know. But still and all, this medical staff has been among the most injured just about every year they’ve been a art of the team.

Maybe it’s time for a change, eh?

Dear old sis was at this show. I was 8 so not quite ready.

Players on all teams have the same mentality “Can’t help the Club from the Tub” They will play if possible it’s in their blood Coaches always just think “Next Man Up” Injuries are on every team for sure it’s a violent sport. The Niners overall are middle of the pack on players health issues, sure can they add more medical staffers probably, their facility ranks high as does Jed among owners involvement, just 2 years ago( 2023 )they had the one of the healthiest teams in the league and went to the SB!
Yeah a healthy team goes along way but 17 games and thinking 18 games is crazy to keep any players healthy..

  3. Winder's avatar Winder says:

I understand why we picked up Evans and Kirk and if they can stay healthy we just

might make the playoffs. But I still wanted us to go younger FA’s.

We have quite a few young players on the team that I was hoping we could get FA’s that are gonna stick around and gel together. I guess next year is when we start to do that. I am not counting on any of our star players to play more than 12/13 games. This is a really crucial draft coming up since we are gonna have more holes to fill next year.

Maybe some of the 2nd and 3rd year players will come into their own this year

Here is another story linking the Niners to a draft pick

  5. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Well one of the reasons the Niners don’t draft young receivers is Kyle is so hard on them to play perfectly, and if they continue to make what he considers mistakes then they go in his dog house. And they might not play for a full year like BA.

What we have known forever!, and not since 2022, more like since 2000 IMO

I am dead set on #27 as LG with ability to go LT. We are late in 1st, 2nd , and 4th. The edge types are no better than Mykel Williams with similar size. So if we only have #27 and #58 then OL is it.

  8. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

The 49ers make it official and sign WR Christian Kirk, P Corliss Waitman, and re-sign DL Sam Okuayinonu.

My hope is they try to get more help on both sides of the line before the draft. Jones has to be worht a pretty good center somewhere.

Then go all-in on the O line for the draft.

  9. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

And omg. Death takes Chuck Norris! 86’ed at 86. He and Bruce are sparring again.

    • blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

I didn’t like Norris’s politics, but I give him a lot of credit and respect for always saying that Bruce Lee was the greatest martial artist that ever lived. That’s saying a lot because many famous martial artists would criticize Lee for not participating in tournaments. Norris never mentioned that and even said it was a moot point, i.e., he recognized how outstanding a fighter/martial artist Lee was.

Looks like the Trent Williams thing is not going well, granted this is only March…but still, why do these thing keep going on into training camp? A lot of sports analysts say the Niners need him. And I say if you are giving him more money and he only plays in 8 games was that worth it?

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

I believe they have to rework another two year contract and probably one that is more like a 1 year deal with outs for both sides. If we are gonna truly go for it this year we need him. Purdy needs him for sure.

      • 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Yup. Not paying the $10m on Friday was expected, if they did his current deal at $38m would have become a reality. A 2 year with 1 year outs or a 3 year with 1 year outs spreads the hit.

  11. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Just FYI, the Brock Purdy deal now has outs for the team starting this season. Thats what the Niners do.

  12. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Niners are masters of reworking contracts to save cap space Trent Williams is still playing at high level his grade is like 92% last year the best LT for over a decade is not going anywhere,he wants to stay a Niner to finish his career and they want him too, it will get done .Having said that OT replacement in the draft and Guard top priority along with WR who could return punts/Kickoffs unless stubborn Shanny gives Cowing are Watkins a shot..

    • 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

I think the deal gets done too, they have pushed it to the draft right now so if it doesn’t get done both Trent and the Niners can benefit from a trade.

Trent was ranked number 3 last year, like you said, still playing at a high level.

Chuck you may have an influx of Flap orphans…

    • Locojuan's avatar Locojuan says:

Gonna miss the Flap, thats for sure. Still, I’m looking forward to watching the Giants this year. I think they’re going to surprise. Cheers Loo!

      • djloo27's avatar djloo27 says:

With ya all the way, Juan. I promised myself I would be a better fan this season. I’m hoping it’ll make me feel younger. How ridiculous is that?

      • willedav's avatar willedav says:

Definitely, though WP could be pain. Bottom line I really liked Bader. Not sure they have enough good pitching, but we’ll see. Read an old Cal Ripken bio from 2005 and while he valued chemistry, in the end talent mattered most. That’s likely Vitello’s biggest problem.

  14. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Hah! Yeah, a pale comparison. Craig worked a lot harder on the day to day grind that his site was than I ever did here. Still blown away by how long this has all gone on. Kids have grown up, people have come and gone and we have even lost some close friends. Gonna miss that place.

Still worried about the pitching and the pen but the hitting and D should be better. Will we ever run though? Is Bader a base stealer? Will Jung Hoo get more than 10 measly steals?

The stat mavens out there eem to think that steals are overrated and not worth the risk, but then again in the NFL these days, all these coaches are going bonkers for going fir 4th and 1s all over the field. As in “the percentages say . . .” but how many times can you see teams fuck this up and lose games before the trend starts to swing back the other way? Sirianni and Dan Campbell both have seriously fucked up seasons going to hard at this. And Brandon Staley is the poster child for ridiculousness in this thing.

So the phone number 867-5309 has been made a cancer help line. I am sure Tommy Tutones is proud

    • willedav's avatar willedav says:

Ha, good one. there was an old R/B hit with similar phone number as title, 634-5789. iirc recorded by Wilson Pickett and others.

      • willedav's avatar willedav says:

Wiki gives writing credit to Eddie Floyd and late Steve Cropper

      • Winder's avatar Winder says:

Yeah, Eddie and Wilson were part of the Falcons. They did some good stuff

      • willedav's avatar willedav says:

wow thanks Winder, didn’t know Eddie Floyd was in The Falcons group. On Atlantic Pickett LP I had The Sound of Wilson Pickett (with funky broadway) he did a new version of I found a Love, hit from Falcons days.

  17. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Chuck you need to post that song

  18. Winder's avatar Winder says:

I love 60’s music. I guess young people still love to dance

  19. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Did Bo Diddley get royalties for this song?
