Game Day – Carroll vs Harbaugh Part Six (or in French, ‘six’)

This should be an interesting game as Pete Carroll has a shot to try somewhat even the score with Jim Harbaugh. Jim “what’s YOUR deal?” Harbaugh seems to have a leg up on his skirmishes with Carroll going back to the Stanford/USC days.  Harbaugh was 3-1 vs Carroll in college, and. so foar inthe NFL, is 1-0 vs Carroll. So, the onus is on Carroll to break the vise-like hold Harbaugh has on him,  and for all intents and purposes had better players in college, and whose team is coming on pretty strong defensively this season. They are on a roll, and look to keep their slim playoff hopes alive for one more week.

Pretty heady stuff, seeing as how they started the year in the shitter by going 2-6. As this division is supposed to be weak sauce, the rest of the NFC can’t seem to close them out. All in all, though, the Niners should win out and wear these guys down.

Didn’t like that call.. C’mon D, stop them.

  2. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Harbaugh gets a little too cute for his own good.

Got the lead, though. Another 3 and out for the D, and we’re good.

  3. Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis says:

Bottom line: another 3rd dn red and zone FAILURE. We came into today ranked 30th and 31st respectively in both categories. It’s not all Alex’s fault, but he’s got a big in hand it…

  4. Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis says:

How bout that Kyle Williams? Who was it again that scouted him at ASU and the Senior Bowl and said he would be a play maker?

And the Grinch, with his grinch-feet ice-cold in the snow,
Stood puzzling and puzzling: “How could it be so?
It came without ribbons! It came without tags!
“It came without packages, boxes or bags!”
And he puzzled three hours, `till his puzzler was sore.
Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before!
“Maybe Christmas,” he thought, “doesn’t come from a store.
“Maybe Christmas…perhaps…means a little bit more!”

Alex had like 15 seconds there to check down. At least we got a first down.

  6. Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis says:

That’s twice that Kendall Hunter has been tackled by snipes.

I guess he was the lone guy who found them on that 8th Grade camping trip.

    • Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis says:

Be honest, who here got suckered in on snipe hunting?

Chuck? You have better luck at the whorehouse than nailing one of those…

  7. Kevin's avatar Kevin says:

Still can’t get it in the EZ, terrible.

  8. Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis says:

ANOTHER 3rd dn failure. When Alex rolls right, you can just forget it.

Green Akers just set the FG record for most in the year. If I were the Niners, I’d keep that quiet.

    • grumpyguy's avatar grumpyguy says:

Yeah, that’s one record you don’t really want.

We have to get better in the red zone next year.

      • Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis says:

I have an idea on how to fix that problem.

Paging Peyton Manning. Peyton Manning white 49er courtesy phone please.

      • grumpyguy's avatar grumpyguy says:

It ain’t going to happen. I have more chance of being the next pope, and I’m not Catholic.

      • Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis says:

But PLEASE tell me you wish it would happen.

And I know it’s a long shot (as of now given his medical uncertainty) but with cap space and Harbaugh as our coach, it’s not as big a stretch as believing in Santa Claus.
Who is real by the way…

    • Flavor's avatar Flavor says:

Denny, do you ever spend a second considering the other end of the play or are you just so simple that all you can process is what you see on your tv screen? We have NOBODY getting any separation out there. When he misses the throw, that’s fair game. But that isn’t what’s happening most of the time. Again, there’s a reason Ginn was getting so many throws— he was the only fucking guy open

      • Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis says:

Flav, have you ever heard the term, “throwing the receiver open?”

Steve Young talks about it all the time. Talks about Alex’s lack of initiative to make that play. Alex has done a great job of not turning the ball over. But he doesn’t make enough plays. Sometimes a QB needs to throw caution into the wind and take a chance. Alex like to play it close to the vest.

I’d like to play him at Texas Hold ‘Em. I know he doesn’t have the guts to bluff.
He’s another Phil Hellmuth incarnate (minus the Championships) Fold away…

  9. Chico's avatar Chico says:

Aldon Smith is a fucking beast!

  10. Flavor's avatar Flavor says:

That guy is a fucking beast

  11. Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis says:

Fine time to block our first punt of the year. If Pete Carroll fucks up this situation…

Lucca Brasi is coming to see him…

Never mind. TD Beast. I told ya he was gonna score today.

  12. grumpyguy's avatar grumpyguy says:

Put everything on your defense and ST, eventually, there going to make a mistake. That’s the price of playing for field goals and leaving teams within one score.

Gut check time for Smith and the offense.

  13. Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis says:

Well, it’s setup for an Alex comeback…

  14. grumpyguy's avatar grumpyguy says:

Hey, Michael Robinson finally made a play for us. Dickhead.

  15. grumpyguy's avatar grumpyguy says:

    What a play by Crabs.

  16. Chico's avatar Chico says:

What a fucking pass and catch on second and a mile….

  17. Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis says:

Now that’s what I’m talkin’ bout. Alex took a shot down field. Great throw.
Not a bad catch by Crabs either…

  18. grumpyguy's avatar grumpyguy says:

Still playing for FGs. And lots of time on the board even if we make it. Don’t like the strategy.

  19. Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis says:

3rd and 6 and we run Frank.

You guys tell me if that would happen if we had Peyton Manning at QB?

No fucking faith in our QB. Playing for FGs ain’t gonna beat the Saints at the ‘Stick.

  20. grumpyguy's avatar grumpyguy says:

Seattle only needs to play for the FG to win. Will the 49ers go to the prevent defense and give it to them, or will Fangio bring some pressure?
