Game Day – Carroll vs Harbaugh Part Six (or in French, ‘six’)

This should be an interesting game as Pete Carroll has a shot to try somewhat even the score with Jim Harbaugh. Jim “what’s YOUR deal?” Harbaugh seems to have a leg up on his skirmishes with Carroll going back to the Stanford/USC days.  Harbaugh was 3-1 vs Carroll in college, and. so foar inthe NFL, is 1-0 vs Carroll. So, the onus is on Carroll to break the vise-like hold Harbaugh has on him,  and for all intents and purposes had better players in college, and whose team is coming on pretty strong defensively this season. They are on a roll, and look to keep their slim playoff hopes alive for one more week.

Pretty heady stuff, seeing as how they started the year in the shitter by going 2-6. As this division is supposed to be weak sauce, the rest of the NFC can’t seem to close them out. All in all, though, the Niners should win out and wear these guys down.

Just a personal question: wouldn’t you guys rather us play the WC week and maybe win so you could throw in my face that Alex won a playoff game?

If we get the bye and host Drew Brees and the Saints in the Divisional Game and lose, and we will lose. I’m gonna have so much fodder to chew on that my barn is going to get real “Grinchy” that day…

The Grinch hated Christmas! The whole Christmas season!
Now, please don’t ask why. No one quite knows the reason.
It could be that his head wasn’t screwed on quite right.
It could be, perhaps, that his shoes were too tight.
But I think that the most likely reason of all
May have been that his heart was two sizes too small.

    • phil fan's avatar phil fan says:

I’d rather have the bye and face the NO guys after a week to heal up. I’m not so sure the Saints are a better Team. Yeah Brees is the better QB until he isn’t but I think NO loses that game due our D, coaching, ST and enough offense at the Stick. Last year we ‘almost’ beat ’em with the moron offense. This season our D is better, coaching far far better. So rest the troops after beating the Rams, go from there

So T-Blow sucks on it again, Pizza Boy begs out… this game is for men, not pussies, Death Threat.

  3. Flavor's avatar Flavor says:

Denny, please stop. You have reduced yourself to Internet troll. And please don’t come back to the Flap, you aren’t welcome there anymore. Don’t make me have to ban you. Enjoy your hatred, I’m sure it’s served you well in your lifetime….

    • Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis says:

Are you serious? I’ll respect your wishes if you are, but I think banning the person who’s been a loyal devotee of your blog(s) from the beginning and made the very first comment on each of them (if I’m correct) because of my contrary 49er comments is not only shallow but uncalled for and a tad personal.

I think I’ve been pretty honest and open on the Flap to you with my comments and my personal e-mails about my desire and need to “blog out” my feelings as directed by my therapist. This nonsense about me being an “Internet Troll” is just that — nonsense.

So I’m a “Doomer” and not happy with the current affairs of both the Niners and Giants. That unhappiness coincides with my life. I know it trickles down and into my comments, but I can’t help that. I’m just speaking from the heart.

I really do appreciate what you and Chuck do with these blogs. They really have become an integral part of my interactions and life in general. My comments are not intended with any malice or discontent towards you or any of the other bloggers. I hope you understand that all my comments are said with a wink in my eye.

Flav, I don’t know what else to say but Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

      • twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

Chuck will never ban you, so you can just post twice as often here.

      • phil fan's avatar phil fan says:

Denny it’s a bunch of control freak nonsense. I ran into similar shit at skeebs blog with Mr Skeeber himself making inapproriate personal judgments about me: “You’re an alcoholic”, “You’re a degenerate expat like so many Americans overseas”. This a few days before the Dallas game. At the time I emailed a few friends and moved over here. Done. Fortunately Chuck is not a control addict to the dismay of some here. If Flavor wants to pull this shit then you don’t need him.

        Move on.

        Your buddy, phil

I haven’t followed the NFL for years but SF has brought me back to watching this year. Game manager, defense dominated team. Whatever. Go 12-3 in this league and it tells this casual observer that you’ve got a solid team. Gutty win. Go Niners!

  5. twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

How can anyone not enjoy that ballgame? Seattle played as well and as hard as they can. This never looked a winner until, well, until they did win. Obviously the defensed starred but there were big plays after big plays by the offense in the second half, none bigger than the throw and catch by Alex and Crabs to set up Akers’ winner. And hey, they’re starting to look like they like other…

  6. Flavor's avatar Flavor says:

Denny– as chuck said, you were a “breath of fresh air” when you came to the Splash in 2008. You, me and Loo had a blast when we took over the Chron blog. Since then you’ve turned into something else, I’ve tried to reach out to you dozens of times, each time you answer back with the same troll-shit.
Simply put, you don’t blog objectively anymore. You have an agenda the same way Hawk and the Hanger had an agenda– hate something, disturb something.
So later days, good luck with ‘all that’ but I don’t stand for the Internet troll shit– you can turn it into whatever you want to turn it into. You’re out….

    • Berger's avatar Berger says:

Flavor- Del’s hatred for Alex Smith, and his love for Tony Romo has blinded him. I love my buddy Del but he has some issues directly related to his hatred of Alex Smith. Personally, I’m glad we have Alex Smith and Del gives me grief about that every time I talk to him. But go easy on my friend, he is really a good person. Del has gone from we can’t win with Alex to we can’t win a play-off gme. He is improving.

      • Flavor's avatar Flavor says:

I’m not sure how you two converse, you seem pretty polarized.
I’m not banning Denny from the fucking Internet, I don’t have that power. Yet. 😦
I’ve tried to reach out to bring him back from the hawk/hanger side, he’s not interested.
It’s Christmas tho, and tomorrow I’ll put up a poll that he’s sure to win. He wins, he gets another shot but I’m done with Chuck’s blog if he wins. I just can’t stand the shit-Disturbers who purposefully poison the Internet.
But whatever, that’s just me. I hope he loses….

      • Berger's avatar Berger says:

I just got off the phone with Del. We were yelling at each other like kids, blowharding each of us were morons over Romo and Smith. Good ‘ole alchohol. I got off the phone and laughed my ass off, I hope Del did too! He loves his Romo. I honestly think Smith is a superior QB. We are both allowed to have our own opinion. I respect his opinion but since I was drinking (I took a shot every time we made a big play) it was fun to mess with my good friend. kind of like how you and TF were going at it the other day. Peace brother! Who loves you? BTW, am I still banned from your site?

      • Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis says:

I’m voting both Russell Baze and I take a dump at the 1/16 pole.

My favorite Derby winner? Alysheba. Bet Twice made him genuflect at the 1/8 pole and the son of Alydar (one of my all-time favs) still had the fortitude and gumption to go right on by…Dave Johnson didn’t even make note of it in his race call…the fact that I had bet Alysheba to win that day was immaterial. Alysheba displayed the heart of a Champion that day that’s kept me loving horse racing. win or lose…

      • Flavor's avatar Flavor says:

Berger– there are 2 people banned from my site and potentially a third depending on tomorrow’s vote. I don’t know why you trip on some blog thread from a couple of years ago– that shit is nothing. You’ve got great comments, replace Denny if he loses tomorrow….

      • Berger's avatar Berger says:

Flavor- I was pissed my Giants kept playing Jose Guillen. I made a comment about it on your blog last year and somebody called me an idiot for not liking Guillen. We went back and forth a few times, I wanted to go to bed so I told him “fuck you” and went away. I don’t even remember who it was. The next day I couldn’t log on so I just said, whatever. I like your comments here and would love to give your site another go if I am allowed. What is the address?

  7. Berger's avatar Berger says:

Great 49er win. Alex Smith keeps showing why he is such an excellent QB. This was his fifth 4th Q comeback this year. Re-sign him, please.

Shit, guys, this game was the best Dennis has behaved in a while. It’s fucking Christmas. Dennis, find some fucking peace. This shit IS getting old. i don;t want to be the heavy, but really. The goddamn team is 12-3. SOME of this HAS to be attributed to the QB.

Unless you are really lost in space.

  14. Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis says:

Great Niner win today up in Puget Sound. Alex didn’t have, nor will we ever have Tony Romo stats (when he plays) but Alex “managed” the game like a 5-star ***** General when it counted. He’s no Patton, but he marched our soldiers into enemy territory and hit pay dirt when it counted most.

Alex is no Tony Romo, but he’s the best we have. Berger, I know your blood is boiling right now. But guess what? I’m taking my phone off the hook.

    Merry Christmas!

    • twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

Doesn’t Romo make enough money to buy clothes that fit? He’s a much better target for your rage than Alex. In a Scorsese flick, he gets his head blown off in the first frame.

  15. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Don’t know what that means Flav, but what I find funny is once Elway gives Tebow the patented ‘all-in,’ Tebow blows chunks.

    • Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis says:

Tebow blows chunks? He’s in place to win the AFC West with a W next week at home vs KC. Don’t be a Tebow hater. It makes ya look bad. Tim’s a man of God who does good things both on and off the field. That disciple of Christ is in a good place. Don’t deny him of that joy because people like you and I don’t share that serenity.

Tim Tebow is a happy camper. God Bless him…

      • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Fuck you, Dennis. Tebow is a poser.

        T-Blow’s minions are the haters.

      • big flavor's avatar big flavor says:

Its hilarious that you dont sweat 4 int’s today from one qb but you want to kill the qb who had none. Fuckin idiot….

      • phil fan's avatar phil fan says:

Tebow is da man and as Denny sez he’s an NFL football man of God. So TT can’t beat the Brady bunch in Foxborough or the Lions in Detroit all by himself? Well I guess he’s not the Second Coming yet (that’s funny Del Mar) but he does inspire his teammates to play their best. Man’s got the mojo working. This is known as leadership.

To say his ‘minions’ are haters is ludicrous and a fine example of projection = “I hate those who dare to disagree with me. Those nasty minions constantly upset my delicate sense of control, hate them, hate them, hate them! Yessir, they are the nasty haters, those minions”

        Not gonna buy any projections

      • phil fan's avatar phil fan says:

I mean Buffalo not Lions all by himself

  23. big flavor's avatar big flavor says:

Denny, i share in the serenity. Ive got serenity coming out of all orifices. And im at peace with that. Your priorities are all fucked up. Dude. Work em out here at ‘forever. Im out till tomorrow’s christmas vote.

  24. Berger's avatar Berger says:

Flavor- Not sure what your point is. Del was going thru some shit, he needed a friend and I obliged. As time went on I found he is a good man and I am better for knowing him. I don’t agree with him about much but all I care about is learning. I love learning. When you stop learning you should just die. Dennis has a lot to offer. Most people do. Del just answered his phone!

  25. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Unbelievable. Denny, Denny Denny. Tebow is OK with shitting all over Buffalo and NE, but Smith wins in Seattle, and plenty of other places, and he’s shit.

I bet Tebow is a wonderful guy, but he sucks ass as a QB.

    • phil fan's avatar phil fan says:

Obviously for a lot of people these discussions and opinions are often only slightly about football, who’s a good player or not, etc. The question is what’s that? An excuse to dump on a safe target like an NFL QB? For some sure. A way to displace anger onto others who disagree with me? Yes for some. A way to validate my self-worth or sense of control in a chaotic and irrational world when my guy/my team does well? Yes, sure can be.

And a whole lot more that we can’t know without a lot more info about the person and his situation. None of that worries me but I wonder if others see some of this too? Talking about football is less than half of what goes on here!

      IMHO

  26. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Bergs, Dennis has been a known entity for a long time among these guys. Shit has gotten weird lately. I don;t profess to know too much about it, but shit’s been wearing thin.

    • Berger's avatar Berger says:

You guys don’t seem to get this. He hates Alex Smith and would rather see us lose with him than win with him. I told him that a half hour ago and he got mad at me for putting words in his mouth. I told him you know I am right. Whatever, I’m not going to hate him for that. He says I’m wrong, but I told him from what you say and write, I’m right. For me, it is not a big deal. But it is fun fucking with him about it. The thing you guys don’t understand is we laugh about most of our arguments. I fuck with him and he fucks with me and we laugh. Now and then we do get serious, but mostly we laugh. Del is a fun guy, except when he is kicking your ass in fantasy football and you can’t get him off the phone! LOL! My wife loves to get on the phone and laugh with him too.

    • phil fan's avatar phil fan says:

I have a similar relationship with Denny as Berger. He hates Alex? So what? Chuck thinks TT sucks ass? SO what? What I respond to is the overall quality of our relationships. Do we all have to agree all the fucking time? That’s not realistic, not possible. Do we have a mutual respect and overall enjoyment in our interactions? That’s good. If I disagree with (you) does that make me a hater? Really? Not buying what control addiction is selling: “Be like me, think like me or else…”

    • phil fan's avatar phil fan says:

How pleasant twinfan. Yet the next day you continue to post malignant shit about “Death Threat Dennis” and whine endlessly about how YOU are the supposed victim. .No evidence of any real threat just your NAUSEATING PROJECTIONS. Am I the only one tracking Santa on Christmas Eve?

No. My friends at NORAD do a wonderful job. Santa just hit The Windy City.
I hope Santa doesn’t lose his presents in Chicago like the Cubbies are known for choking up games.

    • Berger's avatar Berger says:

Do the Cubbies have Tony Romo? That would explain their choking up games!

      • Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis says:

Berger, my bestest friend. Do you know what your worst fear is?

I do. Tony Romo winning the Super Bowl.

When that happens, and it WILL. I’ll help you recover.

But you’ll be in trouble my friend. Deep trouble…

    • phil fan's avatar phil fan says:

Santa must be taking the Polar Route over from Asia/Europe because it’s almost evening here on Christmas Day. I got a nice shiny present gift wrapped and delivered from Seattle.

  29. Berger's avatar Berger says:

Today was the first game where I had the feeling that when we were down by two Seatle was screwed because Alex as getting the ball back. I like the feeling of having confidence in my QB. I also remember getting a 10 yard penalty, which made it 1st and 20, and thinking, no problem if the play calling is good. I really like our QB.

  30. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Well, Harbaugh does rely on that defense. But he also gives Alex shots to take down the field. The drops early were terrible, but they managed to keep it close and give Alex the chance to engineer that last drive. Larry came through with a big game. It’s nuts that they haven’t really missed a beat without Willis. The one guy everyone thought they couldn’t live without.

    • Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis says:

Chuck, “But he (Harbaugh), also gives Alex shots to take down the field?”

      What game are you watching?

Frank told me to shaddup and watch the final of “The Music Man.”

      Great call, Frank.

      • twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

The TD drive and then the terrific throw and catch to Crabs

      • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Gee, Del, except for the 40 yard drop by Crabs, the 45 yard catch that VD couldn’t get his fucking feet down, and the 41 yarder that Smith hit Crabs on to win the game, no he didn’t do shit deep.

Go pray to Tebow for forgiveness, numbnuts. You obviously don’t understand football, or deserve to even watch the 49ers this year. Just watch Denver struggle, or Dallas fail. But yer fucking days are numbered here.

  31. Berger's avatar Berger says:

How did that McCloughan prediction go? Del is sad we won with Alex Smith. Especially since he was a huge reason we won. Did Romo win today?

    • twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

Tony knows it’s December. His pinkie hurt so he bailed..

    • Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis says:

OK, asshole. I’m gonna p/u the phone and listen to you try and tell me how Alex is a better QB than Romo.

I know I get skinned and put in a corner for favoring Tony Romo, but I like the cut of his jib…

I wish Tony Romo was our 49er QB. There, I said it. Sue me, my bestest friend.

  32. twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

I don’t if it was mentioned before, but the officials did a terrific job amidst all the pushing, shoving, and general unruliness. Some crews would have turned this into a penalty fiasco. They kept it under control, and it never got out of hand- good job.

  33. Berger's avatar Berger says:

All this talk about Alex Smith. What about Aldon Smith? AllDon All the Tme!

  34. twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

Well, T-Blow and Choker Boy both have a chance next week to join Alex in leading their teams to the playoffs and I’ll give them credit if they do.
BTW, ya gotta give Elway the of credit mastering the art of saying nothing when asked about T-blow. “I ‘ve never seen anything like him”…”He’s not going anywhere”. Let’s just say that falls a tad short of Harbaugh on Smith.. “He’s my quarterback”…

    • Flavor's avatar Flavor says:

why shouldn’t he be his qb? He’s about 100 times better than Tebow. If I was Elway, I wouldn’t say sh!t sounding like keeping him either. Tebow will only play this single season in Denver, in my opinion. Elway will trade him when his value is high. He’ll go on to have a long career……for the church.

      • twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 says:

Of course there’s no reason Smith shouldn’t be the QB. I was just contrasting the statements from Elway and Harbaugh.
“Tim Tebow’s not going anywhere,” Elway said. “I mean, he’s going to be a Bronco and we’re going to do everything we can and hopefully he’s that guy.”
I’m just giving Elway props for appeasing the T-Blowites while really saying nothing. he’s easing into management quite nicely..

    • phil fan's avatar phil fan says:

That;s true but neither Elwas -(yes he was but not now…) nor you twinfart could have believed TT would win the AFC West. Fact you swore they would only win 2 more games- but they won 5 more. Beat KC this weekend and I wanna hear some mea culpas from you and yer disbeleivers. Otherwise I’m calling you, Flavor and chuck a bunch of sorry ass pussies.

Yeah Elway’s covering his ass. so when are you, 2xfart gonna admit yer sorry predictions re: Mr Tebow were wrong wrong, goddamn WRONG?

I know Flavor and chuck are following ya like sheep but the facts are not what you dudes swore was the fucking goddamn truth. Just admit it if you got the stones….

      Laughable.
