Looks like Jed is gonna get a shit-ton of frequent flyer miles this year. I’m not sure who on the team pissed in the Cheerios of the NFL scheduling committee but we again seem to bear the brunt of assinine scheduling. Last year it was 2 Thursday games, short weeks with 3 time zone jumps, and now 2 international games. Australia here we come!

And Mexico City again. Football is hard enough with out the added stress of travelling. If they had half a brain, we would get our bye week after the 17 hour flight to Sydney, but we do get our Thursday game opening day at least. Oh yeah, and another one in December.

Sucks we couldn’t get more than a split vs the Dogs, but as usual we were consistently inconsistent. Landed in Seattle last nighr and on our way to Whidbey Island this morning and then Canada.

Have a nice trip Charlie good time of year to go. Yeah it is a good thing to start the season with a thursday game. I still wish we didn’t have to go to the meadowlands this year, it might not be such bad weather then but we still gotta play on that surface.

  2. bassbaldy's avatar bassbaldy says:

Have a wonderfultime Charlie! And while in Canaduh, if you make it up island, as far as Campbell River (my birthplace) say “hey” to my family (you’ll be surrounded by ‘em)!!

  3. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

Long, long time ago, I almost took a job offer with the Navy at Whidbey Island. Gorgeous area. Have fun Chuck!

  4. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

You can call me Ray you can call me Jay, but for Unca it’s now Charle, not Chuck,Chucky,Charlie ok?

Have a great trip Charle with the family to Washington and on to Vancouver!I really liked Washington, I had family there that lived in Annacortes the gateway to all the San Juan Islands,Friday Harbor ( camped there)Lopez Island boated there for a family reunion,my father in law had a beautiful 27 ft boat and we went out and set crab pots for opening day crab season ,got a ton of crabs 🦀 brought them back to the motel and the family had a crab cooker waiting to go , it was the best crab feast ever!!

  5. snarkk's avatar snarkk says:

Orcas Island in the San Juans is really cool. Went there some years back and went to clothes optional hot tub place — woo hoo! Very beautiful setting. Also, had probably the best baked oyster dish ever at a place overlooking Deer Harbor there. San Juans are a gorgeous area. Good shot there at seeing the resident killer whale pod, which apparently is in good health, unlike the southern pod which roams around the south Puget Sound area — not as much food for them there and more annoying boat traffic…

Schmitt, Devers, Adames, Chapman — last night:

1-14, 9 Ks, no RBI. Schmitt with the golden sombrero.

    Not murderers row, Murdered row.

    Back to 8 under .500.

Any hope of post season is on life support.

It hasn’t just been years – it has NEVER been this bad in the entire history of the franchise. When the Giants fell to 13-21 in early May, they officially matched the worst start in franchise history, a low water mark that dates all the way back to 1883 . . . 143 years ago when they were known as the New York Gothams!

  7. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

Susac back tonight (although I am not certain he is starting); while Koss gets optioned to Sac. Tough situation for Koss, as he really didn’t get a chance to show what he could do (15 plate appearances in 9 games). Ironic, because at the end of last season, the Giants were excited about him being on this season’s roster.

A’s are likely going to be very tough in this series. They’re in 1st place in the AL West. I have heard a lot of good things about Shea Langeliers.

  8. djloo27's avatar djloo27 says:

It’s a shame they don’t play for that Bay Bridge trophy any more. I loved that thing…

  9. djloo27's avatar djloo27 says:

Mets and Yanks used to play an exhibition game during the season – it was a fairly big deal for awhile. They called it the Mayor’s trophy game. I think sometime in the 70’s the players just said “fuck this”…

  10. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

    Susac nailed him!

  11. willedav's avatar willedav says:

Susac guns kid from Paly (Flav’s alma mater also Davante Adams) down after Mahle almost picked him off.

  12. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

    BOMB BADER!

  13. willedav's avatar willedav says:

Eldridge 3rd start this week. Hope he gets another before they leave. Stung ball couple time lately without getting credit for knock.

  14. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Great gun by Susac and accurate to nail the runner, something Rodriguez doesn’t have with wide throws and he’s 0-7 in that department!

Arreaz 1st HR it figures it’s at this band box park.. Alright Bader says I can smash one out here as well for the lead..

  15. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

Been to this park a number of times when I lived in Pollock Pines, along with staying at a friend’s house in Elk Grove. Ironically AK, this has the near exact dimensions as the Oakland Coliseum. However, the ball carries so much better (probably due to the warm/hot daily weather and likelihood of little to no wind).

Chi loves going to Sutter Health Park.

  16. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

Willie, the atmosphere here still isn’t as good as San Jose imo. Now, that is a fun place to watch a game.

  17. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

    Did Lee misread that ball???

  18. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Kurtz is such a great hitter and he’s only 23 coming off ROY with his 43 Bombs over 100 walks and RBI’s and then you have the kid SS Wilson who I believe was runner up to him last year for the award?just recently put on IL with a shoulder subluxation injury but that kid can ball as well and Langliers as well.

Funny I haven’t been to this park only driving by it heading to Reno where my sister lives but I’m been to the Reno Aces Park quite a bit it’s like a mini Oracle with plenty of bricks and a Railroad Train track beyond LF,Nice Park I’m guessing smaller size and attendance then Sac?

  19. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

Good situation for Chapman to get out of his slump.

  20. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Typical Giants Stop Sign Borg holds up Bader on a shot in the corner by Arreaz and of course Dead Whale Carcass Chapman and Devers both K to waste another scoring threat..

    • djloo27's avatar djloo27 says:

What’s really scary is that even our young players are old…

    • Paul Sorensen's avatar Paul Sorensen says:

Yeah, that was bad. You could see Bader kind of hold his head like WTF man…. They all should do what Adames did recently, just run through his stop signs, and stop when he’s waving them in…

  21. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

Pathetic. I can’t tell if the Giants are on too many drugs or not enough?

  22. Paul Sorensen's avatar Paul Sorensen says:

I say not enough. Next day off, they should all go off into the desert and have a peyote picnic. Maybe even do a sweat lodge. Get their souls straight. Align their chakras. See visions of throw the ball, hit the ball, catch the ball, in technicolor. Not to mention keeping their f-ing heads in the game when they’re on the basepaths….

  23. willedav's avatar willedav says:

Posey has to feel like “nothing I do don’t seem to work” from Stones 19th Nervous Breakdown. New manager/coaches all across the board? Um team is worse than last year when Webb said they shouldn’t have been .500. Now? .500 is ways away.

Sends off everyone’s fav whipping boy Bailey in effort “to score more runs…” And they get out scored 14-4 last 3. Other than Haase, Cs are 1-17.

  24. willedav's avatar willedav says:

Blade, yeah Sacto yard looks like great place to see game. San Jose was so much fun, to hang with you and snarkk.

Unc, enjoy Seattle and Canada. guys in company I used to work in said Seattle had 3 good months of summer. From what I understand weather has mellowed a bit over the years but still, this seems like best time to be there. Everyone I’ve ever talked to raves about Vancouver and nearby; since their tourists have largely abandoned US from there to Quebec, spend some of our $$ in show of good faith. SD and his buddies went to Toronto and back to US on 3 city baseball tour last summer and loved it.

    • blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

I like going to the ball park in SF, don’t get me wrong, but it’s mostly for seeing the Giants play and the “sights and sounds” of the park and city. Watching a game is mediocre though, as it costs $300 to $750 (or more) to watch a game behind the back stop, where you can laser focus on the game. Who wants to pay that??? The only time I have sat in those seats, was when my uncle Joe or my mom took me to the game. I’ll tell ya though, snarkk and I were at a Giants game, sitting in nose bleed seats and that cat was still catching a lot of minutiae in the game (tip of my cap to snarkk). Me? My eye sight now is getting bad – like driver’s license bad. lol

Anyway, agree with you 100%. San Jose is reminiscent of watching little league/senior league/high school games, where you are right on top of the game. Particularly little league and senior leagues, where we would stay the rest of the day at Fair Oaks park in Sunnyvale after our games were completed. Just a great experience being with family and friends. San Jose’s concession stands are outstanding too, particularly that barbecue picnic area. Food was delicious. Yeah, I miss that part about the SF Bay area.

Going to take my daughter to a Spokane Indians game this summer. They’re High A, with about a 7000 seat capacity. Should be a blast.

      • Winder's avatar Winder says:

blade ended up going to a Blue Wahoos(Marlins AA) game last year and ended up having a real good time. Been a long time since I went to a game and wasn’t a fan of either team. I seemed to notice a whole lot more of the game and players. I bet your daughter has a great time

      • blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

I hope she does. Yeah, like you said – you’re so much closer to the action, that you pick up a lot more what is going on. Likewise, most of the teams have in between inning “give-a-ways” and other entertainment. Just a lot of good stuff going on. Concessions have zero lines and more times than not, the food is fresher/better.

  25. snarkk's avatar snarkk says:

    Geez, blade.

Thanks for the compliment. I think. Ha ha.

Yeah, I never went to a lot of games at Oracle/ Pac Bell/ Whatever since it was a pain to get there from the EBay, but when I did go I paid attention, unless/until a blowout. The ballpark atmosphere is still special to me, but I couldn’t go to a lot of games/year. Too many people, too much hustle/bustle for me now. It wouldn’t be special anymore. I like the minor league atmosphere — when you can really tell which player(s) are really good and have a shot to move up and maybe eventually to the big club. Showing my age, but I’ll never forget seeing Bobby Bonds several times over the summer he was with the Fresno Giants. He immediately stood out like a man among boys. Speed afield, stealing bags, glove. And, monster moon shots out of the park. Even as a kid, I could tell he wasn’t long for the minors…

  26. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Fighting for 4th place with the Rockies and I would rather be a Rockies fan now atleast they have some upside, Giants don’t with these underachievers(Arreaz is the ultimate exception) with astonishingly bad long term contracts! It’s like the Kevin Costner underrated movie called “No Way Out “ ..

600 Million plus locked into 4 players Devers,Chapman,Adames,Lee just looks awful..

  27. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

At least Devers and Adames are beginning to show a pulse. However, Chapman looks completely lost. He has 4 hits while striking out 17 times in 48 at-bats in the month of May. He is posting a miniscule .083 batting average during the month.

He also has a .268 OPS in May. The only Giants player who had a lower OPS for an entire month (50+ plate appearances) was Patrick Bailey at .168 in August 2024 per AP news. Shaking my head that the Gmen still owe him $100 million through 2030. Worse, he has that no trade clause.

Nevertheless, I can’t really blame Zaidi and Buster (who was the final catalyst for closing the deal) on this signing. Why? He had an incredible gold glove, 7.1 WAR season with 27 home runs and 78 RBIs.

Me? I vehemently disliked the deal at the time because he had been mostly all glove, no hit, in almost all his previous seasons. Just a very streaky player. If he does agree to a trade, I agree with just about what everyone at the Flap says – the Giants will have to eat a large part of his contract.

Ha, Napoleon Solo, I remember watching that show. spy stuff was big in those days. Looks like Flavien Prat horse got 2nd.

  29. Macdog's avatar Macdog says:

    More dumb baserunning by Adames.

  30. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Nice to see Adames learned nothing about his running with one out recent gaffe for a DP, so I’ll do it again against a comebacker to the pitcher and get nailed between 2nd and 3rd!! Worst freaking team ever running the bases my goodness!

And then Krukow defended him lol , saying well you don’t expect the pitcher to make that play!Hilarious
