In a move that seems like a win/win, Kyle Shanahan cancelled minicamp after everyone showed up and participated in the OTAs this yearNo hold-outs, no hold-ins and no injuries to speak of. A big plus there.
The point being, they are trying something different to reduce the amount of injuries that always seem to hit this team. Huzzah. It’s a start, anyway. They won’t suit up until training camp on July 26th.
OTA winners appear to be De’Zhaun Stribling, who got open at will, and Jacob Cowing, who impressed Mike Evans anyway. Seeing it for real would be awesome. Mike Evans also did well in the red zone offense. Something they finally seemed to grasp las year was to NOT simply run on 1st an goal EVERY goddamn time. Kittle was impressed with all of them.
Kaelon Black is also getting kudos for being explosive, fast, and decisive. Newly acquired Ashtyn Davis made himself known flashing his speed at the safety position and plugging the holes vs the run game.
Losers? Purdy is back to throwing too many picks. Yeah, it’s practice, but he has stretches were he turns the ball over too much. Mac didn’t even practice due to a lingering shoulder injury, so he’s resting til training camp. And fo whatever nondisclosed reason Ricky Pearsall was MIA yesterday and no one was forthcoming regarding his status.
And in other news, a warrant was issued for Brandon Aiyuk for his video selfie speeding past Levi’s stadium at 104 MPH. Allegedly. NOt really sure why they waited 6 months to do something, but hey, whatevs.

The last 2 drafts have been improvements as far as we can tell so far, not home runs but decent. If this draft is also decent I would say the reload/rebuild whatever they want to call it has been painless, especially considering winning 12 games last season unexpectedly.
I bet if they played last year over again the would have made a trade or 2 at the deadline but they just didnt figure on winning that many games even halfway through the season and it was all about the salary dump. I personally was pissed they didn’t trade for Quinnen Williams.
Let’s see how it goes this year, maybe if they are in the hunt they will trade for a difference maker.
Our offensive guard play was terrible last year. Puni had a torn something in his knee and the LG was a turnstile with all the injuries. I hope our draft pick Willis can take the LG spot, and Puni should bounce back since he is healthy this year.
Yeah, if healthy he is a baller. No matter what we will need a different game plan against the Rams especially if Donald does decides to come back. That is just to much fire power. Kinda like when we had Cowboy and rookie Alden we just tore em up.

CTE of the knee?
There are two UDFAs that interest me. WR Grimes has been clocked at 4.24 in the 40. Let’s see if that means anything. I’ve read that DT Bryson Eason has the potential to be a great NT. It is also interesting to see that we have an UDFA Punter. I don’t know anything about him. I hope he can boom.
WR James Jet of the Raiders back in the day was a 100yd and 200yd gold medalist, he ran in the 4.2’s and had a decent but not spectacular career.
Stribling, Watkins and Cowing all run in the 4.3s, Grimes would be flying at 4.24.
The local press seem to think the 9ers are going downfield more this year but the WR room is packed, Grimes would have to really shine to earn a spot on the PS.
Same thing with Darius Heyward-Bey. Crabtree thought the Raiders would draft him but when he fell to the Niners at 10, he wanted 7th pick money.
DHB with his 4.29 speed had a fairly nondescript career. though he played like 10 seasons iirc. Crabs did much better.
IIRC Crabs had a sore foot that he milked for close to two years. i do remember him whining about this and that but he had reason to he had Smith as his QB and he pretty much sucked until around late 2009. I really don’t like thinking about those years anymore
IIRC Crabtree held out all the way into the regular season game 5 and took a couple more weeks to see the field the year he was drafted, crying that he deserved top 5 money even though he was drafted 10th overall.
He had a better career the DHB but he couldn’t haul in the consecutive passes that would have won the 6th Lombardi although to be fair the 3rd pass was PI uncalled.
He had a decent but not spectacular career.
Yeah, dark days indeed. That Super Bowl loss is squarely on Harbaugh’s shoulders. The burned timeout when the Balt defense could barely stand was awful, as Gore would have rolled into the end zone. Instead Harbaugh gave them time to rest with the timeout and 3 incomplete passes.
Joe Bitonio just retired. We won’t be signing him for our LG.
