The Weeks Drag On

The thing I really hate about football is these losses leave that bitter taste in your mouth for a week. Coming off that fucked up Minnehaha game, it’s now two weeks. But hey, last year we had a 3 game losing streak that we overcame. That streak was predicated by injuries, questionable play calling, spotty protection, and shakey defense. You know. Same-old same-old.

So, yeah they are at home this weekend. No, on one is coming back from injury. Well, at least as far as I know. And funny thing, the banged-up offense was not the problem.

So, I guess the best idea is to simply learn from this if possible. Move on. We have a good patsy in the Patriots so this shouldn’t be too hard, but on any Sunday and all that. Still, it WOULD be panic time should the 49ers lose to the Pats at home and start out 1-3.

Sick and tired of stating the obvious about this team. They need to scheme better on defense and actually get this D line involved in the games. Not sure how we turned Leonard Floyd into a paper weight but he has done little to nothing in 3 games.

Shanny needs to figure out how to score from the 2. We have kicked way too many FGs in close. Special teams? Punt every fucking ball OB. Kick every kickoff out of the end zone. Fucking pay attention to the fake punt.

Fucking Aiyuk should be benched, but that would lead to Ronnie fucking Bell. Get Cowing and Conley out there.

Safe to say not having Deebo and Kittle had it’s impact too in LA. Shanny has got to devise a wrinkle beyond motion pre snap by loading up the backfield, adding Oline or jumbo packages and just grinding out yards when trying to sit on a lead.

Purdy running around when McVay dropped 8 and not throwing in similar wrinkles himself just shows how one-dimensional he gets too often.

Agreed, it’s early and all but… tinker a little maybe?

CMC going to Germany for treatment is telling.

Greenlaw had achilles tendinitis for a few weeks before it actually ruptured in the SB.

CMC is seeking treatment in Germany, so what can he get there that he can’t here? The answer is probably a type of modified stem cell treatment that isn’t or cant be performed in the States. Which also means the injury is more serious than was announced.

Hopefully the treatment works, but he is probably out for quite a while anyway.

    • NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

Exactly what I was thinking too 12th. Something blood related which is likely to involve stem cell treatment or something similar.

  3. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah, maybe you guys are right. Shanny did get a little pass-happy in the 2nd half.

He really has issues closing out games.

    • NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

When he’s trying to sit on a lead and Defense loads the box he’s always inclined to throw his way out of it Chuck.

Jumbo packages are necessary at times to just power up and hit them in the mouth.

It’s 30 seconds each running play coming off the clock. Even if they had to punt on 4th down almost all the time would have been gone or at the very least Rams would have had to use their last time out early and they might even make the down anyway. Yes a fumble is possible but all plays carry risk.

These are simple tactics that every coach knows, Shanny keeps throwing when he should be running time and again at the end of games when they are up.

Yeah, the fucking Juice push worked to perfection a couple times so of course on the goal line they didn’t do it and lost 2 yards.

Winder I’m hoping Helene isn’t part of the welcoming committee for you in FL.

We’ve got 2 grandkids at college in the Tampa area waiting on evacuation orders as well.

Be safe buddy. Hoping you are out of harm’s way.

The DC needs to go to a 5 man front. There is no way that Sam should have got off that 90 yard pass. From the end zone no less.

How Does PRP Therapy Help Treat Orthopedic Injuries? With platelet-rich plasma therapy, the platelets and growth factors are injected into the injured area, enhancing not only the nutrients in the area but bolstering the body’s ability to heal. For instance, many football players suffer from Achilles tendonitis or patellar tendonitis in the knee. With continued training and game play, these injuries can become chronic and lead to microscopic tearing of the tendon and formation of scar tissue, if left untreated.Tendon injuries are difficult to treat and heal because of poor blood supply in the area. So, when there are microscopic tears or chronic scarring, the body has a difficult time repairing the damage. With regenerative medicine, like PRP therapy, the body gets a jumpstart on the healing process, which helps mitigate debilitating injury and/or scarring.

Yes thats exactly right but this won’t be simple PRP NJ, we do that here in the States. Kobe Bryant also went to Germany for his achilles treatment. They do modified stem cell treatments that are not done here.

Yeah, when you are 28 and your shit is falling apart, the main thing will always be rest. If it’ll get him on the field faster, give him 10 games off.

I mean really, the whole point here is to get him back at full strength without a full tear of the achilles. Plenty of players (KD springs to mind) have come back from it, but who wants 2 lost seasons?

  8. Winder's avatar Winder says:

Thanks NJ- I am about 30 out of the projected path. But they don’t really know for certain yet. I guess we will find out tomorrow. Pretty sure we will lose power though. Welcome to Florida.

    Keep your powder dry Winder!

  10. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Jauan Jennings is the Niners DK Metcalf. BA is, according to Baldy, pedestrian, he had 2 drops last game but only 2 drops all last season, clearly not in game form yet.

Patriots have a lockdown corner, Gilmore. If I was their DC I would put Gilmore on Jennings, I’m interested to see how another team scheme up BA and Jennings.

  11. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Purdy to Jennings is the greatest 7th round QB/WR duo in history, prove me wrong!

    • NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

      No shit 12th.

Jauan comes to play. I just wish he’d keep that ball a little tighter when he gets moving after the catch.

      • 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

I was pretty sure JJ would go off when given a larger role NJ, the guy has been money for the Niners, but he went off like Jerry Rice with stats not seen since the GOAT did it in 1995!

More reliable than Deebo, bigger and stronger than BA, I would continue featuring JJ regardless of who else is in at WR.

  12. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Mike Florio says Deebo is back at (limited) practice, so is Kittle and Kittle has a chance to play, we will know more tomorrow.

LB Curtis Robinson was carted off with a leg injury, the LB position is getting really, really thin. Shanny says Greenlaw might be back mid season.

  13. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

For all the angst and injuries, a win would calm the seas. For a week anyway. Glad we are back on grass.

Kittle and Deebo will help but the problems weren’t with the offense. We really have to mix things up. 4 weeks in and these guys should have a better plan than this vanilla shit.

  14. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

The disconcerting thing to me is the fact that this far into Shanny’s coaching career and he still can’t finish a game properly.

Yeah, losing CMC is a big thing, but Mason has been running the shit out of the ball and Shanny needs to trust him.

3rd and short remains a problem.

    • NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

Because Shanny relies on motion instead of just bulking up and pounding when he needs to. Defenses pack the box and we don’t have the muscle to run inside.

Maybe it’s an indictment of our personnel too? As you and others have called for the O-line hasn’t gotten enough attention other than Zone blocking guys which is all about motion activities.

Get heavy in the middle maybe?

      • NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

Plenty of teams have put DTs in as FBs when necessary. Throw something in there and let the D know you’re coming.

  15. Winder's avatar Winder says:

Got lucky The storm ended up hitting land over 100 miles from us. Just got rain and didn’t lose power. Feel sorry for the others that weren’t so lucky though.

This game will be a good test of our metal.

  16. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Glad to hear that, Winder. Welcome to Florida.

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

Special teams are just like a good field goal kicker they win games. Why ours aren’t effective I don’t know but they should be a priority. Why we suffer so many injuries every fucking year is troubling to me. I know every team has em but I would bet we are one of the top 5 team every year with the most.
