Field of Sponges, and Drunk Uncle Makes an Appearance

The was an issue with the practice field the Niners are using this week, and then there wasn’t. Apparently the practice facility the Niners are using is an artificial turf field with a grass field installed on top of it at the UNLV campus. They are supposed to use a barrier of some kind, but they didn’t. Meanwhile, the Chiefs get the Raiders gleaming new training facility in Henderson. The players were complaining about it so naturally Jolly Roger held a ’press conference’ (invite only) to talk shit about the 49ers and that the field was fine.

Given that a switch in fields at this point would be a logistical nightmare for the team and the league, the 49ers decided to suck it up and avoid embarrassing the shit out of the league for not prepping a proper field for its fucking grand overblown orgy of corporate greed, gambling, and oh yeah, football.

So, that was kinda odd. But did you guys catch Shanahan last night talking to our ex-fullback Michael Robinson? I’ll post it if I can find it, but it sure looks and sounds like Shanny had a few.

Good on him. Any way to get the guy to lighten up is good in my book.

yeah, I heard the Shanny thing this morning on KNBR on the way to work. Definitely tipsy if not a little hammered. Good to see it, I agree dude needs to lighten up. And my biggest pet peve with him is he always says “and stuff” every third sentence. It makes him sound so dense.

  3. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah, had a friend that would say “and shit” after every sentence. Used to give him shit all the time.

I hope McCaffrey is the difference in this game compared to their last Super Bowl meeting. Our offense is much better with Purdy, and the defense should be near as good as before. KC’s offense is definitely weaker this time around but theor defense is better. That shouldn’t matter.

ThIs time the Niners take it 31-20.

They’ve been showing that 2020 Super Bowl and it just flat pisses me off that Shanahan completely forgot about Deebo in the 2nd half. He was tearing up the KC defense with his sweeps and misdirection runs.

My take is for Shanny to play on the edges.
Run Chris Jones and the LBs sideline to sideline and wear them down.
Deebo and CMc should have plenty of touches in that attack.

What Shanny went away from last Super Bowl.

Get the run going and hit quick play action passes. Then stretch the field.

Actually I’d take a page from the Andy Reid playbook and go deep first play. Then pound the run.

yeah we have to spread it our to be successful. If we play 49er football and don’t make mistakes we win this one. In spite of Shanny’s play calling.

From last thread. chuck sorry to hear what the storm did and hope all is well now. I have two big redwoods in my neighbors yard and I can picture one of em landing on my house. Much of the Bay Area isn’t ready for 80 mph winds. I know where I live it would be damaging to get that strong of a wind.

I agree on the run setting up the pass but it all depends on what their defense gives us. If the run doesn’t work right away I wouldn’t give up on it but try everything we can to figure out what works best. If we try and pound the run but only get 3/4 yards a carry we will tire out our rb’s quicker than their D. We gotta try everything we have to beat these guys.

4 yards a carry would be fine in my book.

And Baltimore completely got away from running the ball in the 2nd half and it hurt them badly. Shanny has a tendency to do that as well, so I’m hoping we can establish the run early and then attack them in the middle of the field.

Get them off balance instead of what has happened to us the last couple games.

  6. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Their LBs are great at blitzing but not so good in coverage so we have to get Kittle going early and often as well.

Plus those slants and crossers that Purdy loves to throw.

  7. Winder's avatar Winder says:

Do we get a draft pick for Peters. I know he’s white but that one just might hurt us.

The SF Chronicle reporting 68 million betting on the SB, seems kind of low to me. 68 million Niners fans and then the rest of the country. And of course that does not include bets between friends and office pools.

As long as Kyle does not let the clock dictate what he does, I don’t care if he goes run heavy or pass heavy, as long as he calls plays to win the game. Fuck the clock

So some owners are pissed at the 49ers for all the extra comp picks they have received for losing black minority coaches(Saleh ,McDaniel,Ryan &couple GM’s) yet it’s the COMPENSATION RULE they all voted for?Sounds like sour grapes to me, just cause Shanahan is more diverse when it comes to hires ( he’s way ahead of the curve)then other teams, those unidentified owners should Fuck Off and start adding more blacks to their staffs at key positions like HC/DC/GM etc if they want to consider extra draft capital in the future..

  12. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Funny, they hate a rule they themselves put in. Mainly because the “you have to interview minority candidates” mandate turned into the biggest joke in the league.

“Save us from ourselves!” Fucking whiners.

There’s very few true Chief fans here in NY and maybe not a ton of 49er fans, but there’s like no buzz whatsoever here for this game. I know people are sick of KC and the idiot circus around them but it’s still a good Super Bowl match up and no one seems to give a shit….

    • NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

Where are you at in NY djloo?
I’ve been accused of being the first 9er fan in NJ 40yrs ago.
