Oh Brandon, We Hardly Knew Ye

Will the love story between Jaylen Daniels and Brandon Aiyuk ever be consummated? After posting a stellar 75 catch 13,42 yard, 7 TD performance in 2023 after his breakout 78 catch 1,015, 8 TD effort in 2022, BA seemed poised for greatness. Instead he opted to go the Deebo route and hold out for the 2024 offseason. He eventually got his $120 million payday and promptly got his knee wiped out in the KC game.

Flash forward to last year and BA decided he REALLY wanted out to reunite with Deebo and Jaylen. So he skipped out on al his contractual requirements and videoed himself doing a drive-by of Levis in (I’m assuming) his Lambo at 85 +. I’m sure teams are lining up to sign a guy with such high mental acuity.

And therein lies the rub. Not that one, DJ. Aiyuk got out of his deal, but the 49ers are not going to do him any favors after getting worked by him. They would like to get anything at this point for BA. Talk is someone out there would be willing to risk a 7th round pick (and that $90 mill remaining on that contract) to take him on.

But seeing as the 49ers have made it perfectly clear that he isn’t setting foot on the soccer fields of Santa Clara ever again, he will remain a 49er until after June 1, when he will be cut6, his contract voided, and he’s free to sign with the Commandos.

Because, hey, who wouldn’t want to go from a 12-5 team to a 5-12 one?

Maybe the Jets will offer a couple tackling sleds and tickets to a show for BA. Do it. No one is gonna pick up that contract at this point.

I just read on the msn home paige that the Niners have until Sept. 1st to dump him or else pay him 9 mil. I thought it was June also. So we can pretty much fuck with him most of the summer. And he’s got it coming too.

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

And, unless someone drops tons of cash on Jennings it would probably be smart to stick with the Niners IMO.

      • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

He is not playing a down for us again. Oh. Jennings. I thought you meant BA.

Since they got Evans, JJ’s not as big a priority as he was. I’d go $18 mill and see what he says. He is a good solid WR and great blocker but he’s not worth $20 mill now.

      • Winder's avatar Winder says:

Yeah I was thinking something like that myself

  2. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Fuck both JJ&BA it seems the 49ers are moving on quickly by adding experienced WR Christian Kirk to a 1/6 M contract another shrewd move by 49ers! I like this one a lot teaming up with Evans and Pearsall make them so much stronger!

  3. Winder's avatar Winder says:

Nice I like Kirk too but Jennings does make a difference for us. And nobody can count on Pearsall.

Yeah I have said if Pearsall doesn’t play in at least 15 games next season I will consider him injury prone and a bust

I am figuring that Pearsal knows that perception/fact is held by the fans and coaching staff. Consequently, he is taking steps to remedy that in the offseason, e.g., train differently, asking for assistance from coaches, training staff, and/or team physician.

No improvement . . . no bueno and no more money.

The one game I saw live last year was the Tennessee game.

Pearsall went out on the first play when he got hip-dropped. He came bback and i swear to god, he got wide open on every damn play. I mean free and clear. Purdy missed what would have been a 40 yard play early in the game, and he still ended up with a big game.

The titans have a good defense, but they couldn’t cover him for shit and he ended up with about 100 yards iirc. Course at the end of the game he got hurt again.

Both Burford (Chargers) and Bartch (Lions) did visits . First two picks are LG and edge. Would feel better if Mac Jones got us an early 2nd.

    • alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Their not trading Mac Jones the market on WB’s just dried up.Im more than happy having the best backup QB next year.Unless a team’s starter are 2 goes down then some teams might engage again..

I think if we get a 2, we might get a player as well.

  7. Winder's avatar Winder says:

I also think that Rourke just might have a Brodie ceiling he’s tough and can throw an accurate long ball which is something we haven’t seen in a long time.

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

Anyway, we are gonna find out pretty soon. Once March ends the countdown will start in earnest. Their still will be a lot of bullshit from the media because of all the pro-days.

    • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

He’d be another diamond in the rough that’s for sure.

I have no idea how well he’ll do, but would love to have another stud backup.

    More WR’s on the move..

Jaylen Waddle to Denver and a 2026 4th rd pick..

    Miami receives 2026 1st rd pick and 2026 3rd and 4th rd picks!Damm that’s a great haul for Dolphins!!

  9. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Burford to the Raiders. Mendoza to the IR.

Mel (unfreeze my head) Kiper has us picking Blake Miller, OT, Clemson.

For once in my life I agree with him.

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

Lol, we might end up taking a tackle at that spot but I bet it’s not him. It would be interesting to listen to a Kiper/Cohn dialog for about a minute.

  10. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Well atleast we won’t be drafting a punter, the 49ers have signed left footed punter Corliss Waitman 30 years old a total upgrade over 40 year old Thomas Morsteied(sp) (sp) who’s probably retiring anyway.Waitman’s stats are top 5 in many categories including 43% punts downed inside the 20 ,and with good hang time only 6 yards returned average compared to Morsteid’s 13%!Another weapon for ST Boyer who made a remarkable turnaround with the 49ers ST unit who ranked #2 after dead last #32 the prior year!
