The Mistake by the Lake

The Factory of Sadness. Blight City. Lake of Fire. Call it what you will but the 49ers are heading to Cleveland. Much maligned, and riding a streak of shittiness a mile wide and 32 years long, Cleveland did themselves proud and signed DeShaun Watson, he of the rub-and-tug escapades times 24, and are actually playing kinda well.

Defensively anyway. Myles Garrett is a beast, and Cleveland is giving up the least amount of yards per game (197) by a whopping 70 yards. Offensively, they are in a bad way. Nick Chubb suffered a terrible knee injury on MNF a few weeks ago, and Mr. Illegal Use of Hands is battling a shoulder injury and may not even play.

The Niners? Well, coming off a big win over Dallas, the 49ers have this and the Vikings game on the road. It is games like these that can be dangerous. Weather will be a factor in Cleveland as it will be rainy and windy, so we have to be careful on that front. So far this year we have protected the ball very well. No picks and only 2 lost fumbles to 8 picks and 1 fumble recovery, while the Browns are -7 with 4 takeaways and 11 giveaways.

Cleve is 4th against the run and 1 against the pass so it won’t be easy, but they haven’t faced our offense.

Take the under. 21-10 Niners.

What?? You are predicting the end of 30 points a game? No way

Interesting. CMC will go down as one of the best mid-season trades in history. Up there with Fred Dean.

Sanders was a good trade as well.

    That’s POTD by the way!!

This game is gonna be all about turnovers. If we can hold on to the ball in the shitty weather, we should be fine.

I think our defense can force a few from PJ Walker? It looks like Watson is out as he hasn’t practiced all week and didn’t today.

Jefferson Starship was never super high on my list of bands to listen to, but this song is memorable for the Paul Kantner phrase, “Fuck you! We do what we want!” as a response to a Rolling Stone review calling them out for not sounding like they used to.

    God, Denver sucks.

There have been times over the last, well many years on occasion, that I have watched the NFL and seen other teams, really talented and really well coached, and have been envious. It feels SO great now to see OUR team be that good.

If we were playing in Kansas City right now, it would be a very, very different story
. We may see them in the super bowl. And we are a better team than 4 years ago. No question. Better cohesion. Better coaching. Better QB. Stay healthy Brock. Please.

But for Jimmy’s inability to throw a deep ball against KC we should have won the game on Miami Barkleyfreak.
Shanny finally looks like he’s beaten his conservative approach to playing with a lead too.

      Better late than never.

True that. That was a great team also. Would have also won if the refs would have called at least one of the1/2 dozen+ holds on Bosa. But this team feels more formidable and Purdy seems to be the more dependable, and movable, QB. We will see, it’s a long season.

Barley- I went to your restaurant, Three Forks. It’s a great place. They were out of the Pliney. I had the Farm Saison. It was the best Saison I ever had. You did a great job there.

Hey Berger — yeah I was in there yesterday and one of my former employees mentioned you had stopped by. Sorry I missed you. Glad you enjoyed it. The brewer who replaced me was my former protégé and went out and worked as head brewer at several other breweries before coming back and becoming part of the new ownership. A great brewer, knows his stuff.

KC has no deep threat. Most of their plays not to Kelce and underneath and screens. WE would kill them. Buffalo is the better team. It may even be Miami.

Loooks like the Niners dodged a bullet with the Aaron Banks injury. His bicep injury could have landed him on the IR all year, but he’s practicing. Limitedly.

This game is not a given. In 81 when we were rolling we played Cleveland on a dreary rainy day and they made Montana look pedestrian. I still think that was the worse game I ever saw him play. We just have to out muscle them on the lines and I think the under is probably a good bet.

  9. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

That season was insane. The 1-2 start was a worry but man, we caught fire.

Huh, just found out DaVante Adams and Joc Pederson played pop warner and at Paly High together. Nice story on the NFL Network.
