Game Day – Requiem for Jimmy G?

Well, probably not. I foresee Trey Lance getting on the field to start the 3rd quarter as the brain-freeze head coach struggles through another game. Hopefully Lance gets some passes to throw to go along with the 20 rushing attempts. Getting hard to feel anything but anger and sadness about a team that was looking like they were heading in the right direction when John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan came aboard.

Here we are 4+ seasons later dealing with injuries yet again, a quarterback controversy regarding lame-duck QB Jimmy G and future question mark Trey Lance, a porous and ineffective offensive line, a patchwork quilt of old and lousy cornerbacks, and a slew of draft day misses. The braintrust of Lynch and Shanny have cobbled together one solid season, a Super Bowl loss, in 4+ years, and a 31-39 record.

19-36 minus the outlier season. I just don’t know about this team. My quickest solution would be to hire/promote a play caller. Shanny is sucking hard. Ater the season, re-evaluate Shanahan and maybe move on if this year isn’t salvaged.

As far as the rest? We’ll see by the end of the season.

I really don’t have much hope for this game.

  2. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Look at that. A deep pass to Aiyuk. Shanny must be reading this.

  3. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Fuck. Mr. Obvious on 3rd and short.

  4. Winder's avatar Winder says:

about fucking time one of those worked

  5. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Stupid defense by Chicago. At least we get 3. Williams grading out worse than Moore.

Yay. The miss! God, we suck.

  6. Winder's avatar Winder says:

Yeah, i don’t even mind stepping away from the game for awhile.

  7. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Jesus Jimmy had 17 seconds to throw and he still had to throw a short High throw that Sanu had to Dwight Clark ketch it short of a 1st down!
And of course the FG kick was Slyetly off!!

  8. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Where the hell is AA? He’s been invisible.

    • alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Should of gave the money to Buckner instead of AA( guess we couldn’t fleece Colts on that one)Then to move up to get the latest bust in Kinlaw for his replacement as all their drafts keep eroding..

  9. Locojuan's avatar Bozo says:

Hey Unca, what was that link so I can watch the game? They are showing the Panthers game here.

  10. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Ho hum. This defense is bland and awful. Armstead is doing nothing and Bosa is fighting double teams and holds every play.

Yeah, we are hurt, but this defense is terrible vs the run and the pas.

  11. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Well the critique of the Niners on KNBR this morning was not addressing the corners and safeties, and of course thenO-line, quite possibly the worst O-line in the NFL. Old and can’t pass protect

  12. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

    Keep passing the ball,

  13. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    Drops and more drops.

  14. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    bilasport.net, Clown

Click the play arrow a couple times to get it to go.

  15. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

They can throw all they want but if the fucking receivers can’t ketch a ball what good is it??
Hasn’t taken long to give up the run game either with Mitchell..

  16. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

This pass defense is SO soft.

  17. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

There it is. Stupid penalty # 352. What the ffuck? Penaltiesopenaltiespenalties

  18. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Both these coaches are coaching scared. At least we moved into more press coverage

Understandable for the guy coaching the rookie, but not for the guy coaching the vet QB.

  19. Winder's avatar Winder says:

Time to do some yardwork while there is some actual sun up here

  20. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

2nd and 21 Bosa gets the sack and a hold, but knooow a face mask penalty on the DL and what would of been a huge play and bigtime loss turns into an automatic 1st Down!!! Fuck and of course it leads to a FG..

  21. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Wow.. Throw deep and it works. FUUUUUUCK

  22. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Finally Kyle is taking chances down the field

  23. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Only been screaming this for 17 seasons.

  24. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Garoppolo misses the fucking TD pass. Jesus. He

  25. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Hit the big play and then Jimmy throws a shit ball not catchable to Deebo.Settling for 3.I almost wished they just went for it but they probably would of fucked it up..

  26. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Bosa is horrible at keeping edge contain. He biutes on inside fakes, and doesn’t keep the edge defended,

  27. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Run D looking good, pass D sucks

  28. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Fuck. How many drive extending penalties do we give away?

  29. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Kyle needs to call plays like the end of the 2nd quarter,

  30. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

So let’s go to the run, stupid, no consistent play calling

  31. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

How many drive-killing penalties do we commit? Thecoaching is horrible

  32. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Wow. Deebo with the play of the season..

  33. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

If this TD gets over turned and the ball is on the 3, please don’t run it 3 times

  34. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

JJesus. This team is hell-bent on making everything difficult.

    • willedav's avatar willedav says:

      Entertaining game though.
Burial of JG seems premature. Saw Niners guy on twitter said goal line situation was maybe Lance time. If they lose this game because of kicker, leave him in windy.

  35. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Boy, How much do the Niners miss Gould?

  36. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

If they lose by 1 they better find a FG kicker

  37. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

So tired of so many fuckups. Endless penalties, endless mistakes, endless turnovers.

This team is just abjectly pathetic. 90% of this is coaching..

    • willedav's avatar willedav says:

mm seems harsh to me. Co ordinators are involved in play calling on both sides. Plus there are about dozen different position coaches, and these are who players deal with every day. Sure Shanahan is ultimately responsible, but lot of blame to go around imo and he only has so much to work with due to injuries.

  38. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Now it’s time to take the fucking lead. Great field position, some momentum. Get this ball into the end zone.

Shanahan needs to nail this drive..

  39. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    Like the no-huddle.

  40. What An Epic Game's avatar What An Epic Game says:

These two great teams are destined to meet again in the NFC Championship game. Such exciting and inspiring football!

  41. Winder's avatar Winder says:

wow, I should do yardwork more often

  42. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

That’s more like it old school playyard TD as the whole team even Jimmy lol push hard running Mitchell into the endzone! Throw in the 2 pt conversion icing on the cake!

  43. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Bosa bites hard on the fake. AGAIN.

  44. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    fucking pathetic..

Good to see we are the highlight reel for every other offense in the league.

  45. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Fucking A u have Fields stopped for the takeover and he scores a TD! Fucking ridiculous..

  46. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Armstead is awful. He’s doing nothing.

    HAH!!!!!

  47. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Every fucking game has to be close like this because we can’t do anything with consistency.

  48. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Well it isn’t just are place kicker Slye screwing up thanks Santos!!

  49. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Yeah, containing Mobil QBs has been a problem for a couple of years now. But other teams D has the same problem

  50. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Let’s not get to in love with the run, passing was working just fine

  51. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Wow. fooled me on that one. Nice fucking drive.

  52. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

    That’s two for JG

  53. Winder's avatar Winder says:

    That was a nice drive

  54. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Man I like Mitchell, he’s fast and runs with authority!
One pick they didn’t miss on fortunately and a 6th rd pick to boot..

Wow look a Jimmy go for his 2nd TD!!
Doctor Jimmy and The Who getting it done!

  55. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Sermon? Our steal in the 3rd round can;’t even get on the field.

  56. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

322 passing yards for JG, this is what happens when you trust your QB to throw the ball 🏈

  57. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    Fields gets the flop.

  58. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Fox network is out!! WTF 🤬

  59. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

My only issue Lanceopplo is vulturing TD’s from my FF player Mitchell. But I had him on my bench for James Robinson..

  60. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    Ebukam with the sack.

  61. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    Make this bitch, Skye!!

  62. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Okay if they miss the FG I will be pissed that they didn’t pass the ball more on this last drive, playing not to lose!! 😡😡

  63. willedav's avatar willedav says:

Brad Riggs on twitter said Bears had no takeaways no sacks and have not forced a punt and Niners have 470 yards of offense.
And now an int for SF.

  64. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    There you go!!! A pick!!!

  65. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Huh. We closed out a game. First time in a long time.

  66. Locojuan's avatar Bozo says:

    Dat was fun.

  67. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

So I hope Kyle sticks with this play calling, trust JG, and run when needed, not run all the time

  68. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Well Kevin I disagree , Elijah Mitchell has proven to be the lead back, 18 carries for 137 yards , 3 measly carries for Hasty.Sermon can’t even get on the field.
Yeah they need to mix it up and the run sets up the pass for Jimmy which makes everything better.
If nothing else for now they have a top notch RB and that’s something to build off of..Mitchell’s the real deal, just stay healthy big guy!!

    • Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

And I disagree with running all the time, if anyone can show me a highlight of Joe M, or Steve Y, handing off to a running back to win a SB, I will say the run is the way to go. And that was back in the day when RBs went in the first round or were valued as a #1 pick, RBs are no longer considered in the 1 st round of the draft, WRs and QBs are, why…because this is a passing league now. The Niners losses in the SB were all due to heavy on the run.

  69. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

As he has proven, JImmy G throws well on the move and should be rolled out to make his throws.

And yes, our offense clicks when the run game is working. And we finally threw deep.

  70. Winder's avatar Winder says:

It helped that Jimmy wasn’t pressed by the defense very often also.

  71. Grumpy Guy's avatar Grumpy Guy says:

This offense looks a Hell of a lot better when Mitchell is healthy. Of course, keeping ANYONE healthy here has been tough lately.

Still apprehensive about the upcoming division games. But What the Hell, enjoy the Win while we can.

  72. barleyfreak's avatar barleyfreak says:

Best start to finish game for the offense. Garapolo moved well in the pocket as he has in a long time, or ever. Aided by decent pass coverage. Great downfield blocking. Auyuk had a great game, including blocking. And Shanahan? Kept running the outside pitch with juice leading. Over and over. Because. It. Was. Working. Thank you Kyle. Oh and Bosa is a beast. For all the criticism of our drafting, at least we got that one right.

    • barleyfreak's avatar barleyfreak says:

      **pass protection**

    • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah, Bosa was a no-brainer but he has been great. Still hate how he bites on the bootlegs and crashes inside too quick. But the rest of his game is awesome.

But yes, Shanny finally didn’t give up on the run for no particular reason and Mitchell has proven to be a stud. Sermon? Where is he? Has the team already given up on him? Really don’t get what is going on there. At least Aiyuk has crawled out of the doghouse and had a solid game. 4/45 and a nice couple of punt returns.

AA really has to get a LOT more pressure since teams usually double Bosa. Ebukam hada nice sack, and we did finally get through late.

  73. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Well, if we can run effectively we stand a chance against anyone. It’s all about mistakes, penalties, and turnovers for the Niners. No sacks, no fumbles, and no picks today. And the D came on in the 2nd half.

Shanny actually adjusted. He ran no-huddle on the 2nd TD drive in the 3rd quarter. He stopped throwing those dangerous sideline shit passes. And he went downfield a couple times. Actually hitting Aiyuk on a deep pass to close the 1st half.
