Game Day, Part Deux, Deetroit Leaning

Home opener. Detroit Lions. Hopefully a non-eventful win. Then again you have to look at Detroit’s home opener last week for a game that got away. And if this was the previous regime, this is a game that the team would usually fall well short of expectations. Are we that team anymore?

I’d like to be sure we aren’t but that’s why the play the game, as they so oftenly say.  We are getting dinged up pretty decently so far what with Goodwin out, 2 guards out, Coyle out, and Jimmy G coming off a shit game. It’ll at least be interesting to see how he reacts to his less-than-stellar performance last week and if he gets a little less dangerous with his passes.

Any given Sunday and all that, but it looks like Patricia is already in over-his-head mode. All I know is Deetroit really pushed to upgrade their running attack, and the Jets, 24th in the league vs the run, shut them down completely.

Jesus. We deserve to lose this.

  2. Maggie Horowitz says:

    Is Garoppolo stupid or something?

  3. Winder says:

I guess Jimmy can’t read defenses

  4. Lurker John says:

He not only telegraphed where he was going with the ball, he threw it behind Breida. For once, the officials come to the rescue.

  5. Maggie Horowitz says:

Why in the fuck were they throwing ??

  6. unca_chuck says:

Wow, this is ugly. Better a sack than an incomplete pas.

  7. unca_chuck says:

Oh boy. This defense needs to step up.

  8. alleykat69 says:

Dodge a bullit in this one!

  9. unca_chuck says:

A win is a win is a fugly win.

  10. Lurker John says:

    A very shaky win.

  11. Winder says:

    We looked like shit

  12. rtfirefly says:

    A W is a W is a W. But boy was that ugly.

  13. Flavor says:

that was one of the luckiest wins I can remember.

  14. djloo27 says:

    Ready for next week?

  15. rtfirefly says:

The Dolphins with Ryan Tannehill. are leading the AFC East.
The Bengals are leading the AFC North.
The Bucs are leading the NFC South.

The sun is going to set in the east tonight.

  16. Irish Kevin says:

What is the saying….sometimes it is better to be lucky than good.

  17. Lurker John says:

    Djloo in the house! lulz

Can’t see a scenario where we travel to KC and have any expectations to win at this point.
I’ll reserve a prediction until later in the week but, it’s simply to decide how badly we’re going to lose.
I’ll re-watch the game during the week since I’ve parted ways with the Sunday Ticket Butt-Fukn Pkg.
Gotta do the re-wind thing now via Gamepass.
From what I caught on RedZone, Mahomes will likely put up 40 in the 1st half if we don’t figure something out before next Sunday.

    • Lurker John says:

What’s the story with Sunday Ticket? What didn’t you like about it? And I agree, it’s hard to see how the NIners can stop KC offense. Their best hope may be for a massive shootout, and I don’t think Jimmy G has it in him.

      • NJ49er says:

Had the Ticket for years Lurker John.
This season they raised just the NFL Pkg to over $400. That’s on top of the standard monthly charges.
If I were charging guests like a sports bar, no problem. Personal entertainment, no way.
        Highway robbery.

      • Lurker John says:

        $400? That’s freakin’ crazy.

  19. NJ49er says:

Did you catch the post-game presser in TB today?
    Fitzpatrick was hysterical.
Seems DJax loaned him the bling. 😀

  20. Lurker John says:

Yeah, that’s pretty funny. “The chest hair is mine.” The Bucs are off to a smokin’ start after pounding two good teams. It’s hard to see them inserting Winston back in there, but that’s probably exactly what they’ll do. It’s all about the bucks.

  21. rtfirefly says:

Our last win in KC was the strike-shortened season of 1982.

  22. rtfirefly says:

Patrick Mahomes’ 10 TD passes in his first two games is the new NFL all-time record.

  23. rtfirefly says:

Our last three trips to Arrowhead have resulted in three losses with a combined score of 116-19. That includes a TD we scored on the last play of the game in 2010.

    • unca_chuck says:

Seriously? Please. Those big losses came in 1997 (44-0) and 2006 (41-0). Even the 2010 loss means nothing.

We lead the series 7-5 dating back to 1971. I’ll hang my hat on that.

Last time we played them, 2014 we beat them 22-17. Relevant? Not really, but at least we had the same punter (!).

      That stat means absolutely nothing.
