Despite the ridiculous clamor for the 49ers to draft a quarterback (Trubisky? Uh, no. In a logical world, he falls to the mid 2nd round, and DeShaun Watson is a mid 1st rounder), there is also a lot of traction behind a guy who I really like in Salomon Thomas, the DE coming out of Stanford. He had a great senior season, a great Fiesta Peach Bowl (whatever), and an even better combine to raise his stock. Granted, they’d likely reshuffle the D line should they get him, but that is not a concern when getting as sure fire a guy as he is.
Other than that, what do you guys think? What do our first 3 picks look like?
My thought is something like:
- S Thomas – DE Stanford
- Dan Feeney – G Indiana
- Jarrad Davis – LB Florida
I know we need offensive help, but I like the FAs we’ve gotten so far, and I’m sure there will be more WRs out there once the draft is over.
Pass rush is my biggest concern overall, and when we did get some pressure, we played better. Therefore, Salomon Thomas. Local kid. Great guy. He’s our dude.

If it were me, (and I could swing the deal with TN), I’d look for a combination of a Defensive piece and Corey Davis, depending on who’s left at 5.
Might find Davis at 18 but, that’s risky.
Davis at 5 would work for me personally. Not sure how Shanny feels about him of course.

You have never answered my question, who does Tenn want at #2 that they would make that trade? It is not going to happen.
For you to have any credibility that this trade could happen you would first need to identify who Tenn wants so badly at 2 that they would part with a 5 and 18.
The games I saw Trubinski play he was slow and late at times. Much like Jared Goff.
And I sure wanted Rodgers over Smith back in the day. Mainly because Csl played a pro style offense back then and Smith was in the run and gun.
There is no comparison between Trubisky and Goff. Goff had very inconsistent mechanics. Trubisky keeps his poise under pressure. I’d rather have Cal’s Webb over Goff. I have never seen Trubisky slow. Late? OK, I’ll give you that, but that is the product of starting one year. By the end of the year you did not see that. He will need to sit a year or two but QBs with talent and the ‘it’ factor are not common.
Tenn needs WRs. Maybe they do a Julio Jones deal to make sure they get their guy Corey Davis. We certainly are looking at him. Maybe they want to make sure they get a top CB. Say Marlon Humphrey from Alabama.

I don’t agree but at least somebody is making the case! There are no #1 WRs. There are three at the top. One will be there at #5 and even at 18.
Everyone is saying this is a defensive strong draft. But I think 6or 7 offensive guys go in the first 15 picks. I don’t know who Tenn would want so badly at 2 but I sure hope they do that deal. Heck, we might even do a deal with Cleveland if they want the 2 spot badly enough they do have picks. Our offense is so anemic that we almost have to address it with our first few picks. If KS feels there is a QB good enough at 2 then I am all for it. Otherwise it would be prudent to take the best player available since we have so many holes.

Winder, I think scheme plays a part in this as well. I think the defense is better than what they showed. The defensive coaching last year was terrible. Stopping the run isn’t as hard as we made it.
That being said we still need a disruptive edge guy first and foremost. Then go WR, O line, WR, RB, ILB.
Bergs I don’t really agree either but I think Davis comes off the board before Trubisky.

Yeah, it’s kinda silly to get to involved with the draft picks right now. Every time I look at a mock it changes and it’s the same guys doing the mocks. They not only change their minds but they also change the rankings of the players. One week this guy is the best at a position and next week the same guy say’s there are a couple better than the original guy. Just a bunch of fucking guessing all around. Truly smoke and mirrors.
