Free Agent Frenzy Cools Down

Not much to report on now as the FA feeding frenzy slows down. The Niners got quantity without spending too much, so I’d give them a solid B in free agency so far.

–Quarterback Brian Hoyer
–Quarterback Matt (Hot Tub) Barkley
–Fullback Kyle Juszczyk
–Wide receiver Pierre Garçon
–Wide receiver Marquise Goodwin
–Tight end Logan Paulsen
–Linebacker Malcolm Smith

People may question the money thrown around, especially for Garcon and Jusryzuyky, but even with all these signings, and a trade for a center, the 49ers still have the most available cap money for the rest of the free agency period.

Got to wonder if they go after a couple more O and D linemen.

I think we got some quality in our FA picks too. It looks like we will pick up a few more along the way. It also looks like we are gonna rebuild through the draft and as long as KS and Lynch identify good players that is the way to go. This season has a whole different look than the last few.

Garcon and Smith I really like. I hear the fullback is pretty versatile and he can catch out of the backfield and line up at TE and WR. Like our old 270 lb slot WR.

Guess we signed LB Dekoda Watson. Yes THAT Dekoda Watson.

Never heard of him. 7 year vet who has bounced around the league. A depth pick.

Looks like a special teams player. He does have some sacks and forced fumbles on his resume.

Sad to see this sort of famine in the modern World.
Kudos to Kaep for leading by example –

Hate to say it but it’s Darwin’s theory at work. That place is so crooked that most of that stuff won’t make it to where it’s supposed to go. And, it is a good thing that he’s doing charity work but none of that has anything to do about what he was kneeling for.

His football days are over. He has another calling.

  4. unca_chuck says:

Sure it is. It is about the oppression of people by those in authority.

    • Winder says:

What does not standing for our national anthem have to do with somalia?

      • Winder says:

You really can’t equate the conditions in Somalia to what’s going on here. There are oppressed people in every country especially where there is dictatorship. I like that he is sending food to the people who need it desperately. To bad most of it won’t make it to them

  5. Nipper says:

Apparently many Somali immigrants show up in Minnesota.

    • Winder says:

I bet they love that up there.

      • unca_chuck says:

There’s a church up there that has sponsored a lot of Somalis there.

Thing is, in the US, till recently, it was pretty much live and let live as far as immigrating here. We (used to) do a much better job of letting immigrants get here and make their own way. We don’t segregate them into districts like a lot of European countries do. Therefore, they assimilate better and faster than in Europe.

I just watched some more Trubisky hi-lites. I’m going to be surprised if we do not take him with the 2nd pick. This kid is all that.

3 49ers on the 1964 team, LB Matt Hazeltine, FB Gary Lewis and backup QB Bobby Waters all died of ALS.

  8. unca_chuck says:

That’s too bad. Great memories of him back in the day.

After the games are over and the crowd goes home and the cheering ends reality comes back with all it’s problems and challenges. Our heroes get older and sicker and some die prematurely as we all face our own mortality.

    Thanks, Nipper.
