I think it’s fairly safe to say that the unknown Rat that Teflon Mike, Aluminum Mike, Jimmy Hat, Crabs, St. Jim, and Jimmy Bag-a-Donuts, among another few hundred, all referenced in their time here is none other than one Paraage Marathe. He is the only constant among all the players in this charade ,aside from Young Jed Dicks-a-lot. And we all know Jed doesn’t get his hands near the dirt, lest an actual player or coach calls his lily white ass out. His latest fall guy is the GM.
Don’t get me wrong, I wanted the guy out last year, and I questioned his draft 2 years ago because he ignored the glaring holes on the team, but really, Trent (I never met a torn ACL I didn’t love) Baalke was ousted through the whisper campaign before Sunday’s game even started, leaving Chip Kelly twisting in the wind as a lame-duck coach. He of course got word after the game. But no matter. Jed babbled some nonsense after the game that i haven’t had the will to listen to yet, but yet again, this organization looks like a team being run by a 10 year old. Or an Orange-hued politician.
So once again, Jed and Paraag will scour the universe for Baalke’s replacement. I was guaranteeing that Tom Gamble would be the next GM, but that was before the season went total Cleveland Browns. Jed is saying that the GM will be from outside the organization, but really, who will they get? Someone with experience? Who would walk into this shit show? As I said earlier, Paraag is the problem. He has no football experience short of the disaster he’s presided over these last 16 years. He was Nolan’s red-flag guy. He’s been the contract guy, President, EVP, and whatever the fuck they want to call his spot. He was supposedly stripped of his powers past year, but he’s still the top dog calling the shots. He’s got Jed’s ear (and his balls, apparently), and he’s also the guy leaking things to Jason LaCanfora, Jay Glazer, and York family fave, Trent Dildo.
Take a gander at Marathe’s football experience before his tenure with the 49ers guy who makes all the football decisions:
“Prior to joining the 49ers, Marathe spent several years at management consulting firm Bain & Company, as a Senior Associate Consultant, where he advised clients in a variety of industries including private equity, venture capital, software, retail, sports footwear, consumer products, and health clubs. Before that, Marathe worked in the sports consulting group at the International Management Group (IMG), where he concentrated primarily on stadium naming rights deals, corporate sponsorships, and athlete endorsements.”
What is funny is we now hear that Baalke is the one that nixed the Gase hire and put a stop to drafting Dak Prescott. True? Could be. Or it could be the latest pack of lies coming out of the asshole of this organization. I find it hard to believe that with the Gase hire that it came down to Baalke insisting on Tomsula as the DC. It must have come from Jed. What is ludicrous abut it is the timing of this. Now that they have their latest whipping boy, and pin every bad decision on him.
I have no idea who or what to believe, but the timing sure seems a bit convenient. The Gase story was apparently confirmed by Tim Kawakami a couple years ago, but who knows?

Too many reports since that time contradict the timeline.

I just don’t see how a fucking accountant has so much power over football operations. I think the whole deal should land on Jed’s shoulders. That means even if the accountant is the major leak source it still has to be orchestrated by the not so young anymore dipwad. It is gonna be very trying for 49er fans. I think Jed will buckle under the pressure. If the whole deal is about the bottom line then eventually Jed will have to see that his interference is only costing him money.
Yeah, Winder, the disinformation starts with either Jed, Denise, or Dr. Dork. I have no qualms saying that.
It’s just too fucking convenient that they lay the latest missteps at the feet of Trent Baalke. I hated his drafts but he was good at the parlaying of picks.
Might as well blame not drafting Tom Brady at his doorstep.
Sorry that link didn’t work guys. Jay Glazer said, after talking to Kelly for a few days both before and after the firing, that Baalke was scheming to force Kelly out for weeks, Kelly told him that.
Glazer also said it was Baalke who blocked Gase from being hired and he got that from Gase who Glazer says was packing for SF when he got the call and Gase is still angry about what happened.
Don’t know where the Das Prescott issues comes from.
Glazer got that stuff from the parties directly, no rat, which gives me an even lower opinion of Baalke.
Who told Glazer that Baalke was gone?

The timeline in the Gase thing seems fucked up, but I don’t know. I laid it at Jed’s feet because in the end he’s the boss. Hard to believe Baalke went behind Jed’s back to shitcan Gase.
Or maybe Jed IS clueless as fuck as to what is going on within his organization.
Glazer says Baalke put the brakes on the Gase hiring to Jed, influencing the final decision to go with Tomsula. The speculation being that Baalke preferred someone he could fully control as opposed to another rising star coach.
If these things are true, it looks like Baalke has been scheming to make himself look good to ownership by throwing coaches under the bus consistently.
I don’t have a problem believing that to be the case.
Well, it was known in the twitterverse before the game even started that Baalke was fired. Leaking out the GM is to be canned before the last game is a stupid and childish thing to leak. It was either Jed or Marathe.
And it paints Kelly as the lame duck fall guy as well. He was no great shakes, but really, he had close to nothing to work with. And the injuries took their toll. But Chip was way too slow to adjust to the fact that his team shouldn’t be go-go all the time. 5 games too slow.
Again though, I don’t really have a problem with Chip going, but I’d rather have the new GM make the coaching decisions rather than have Jed do it.
According to reports Baalke was told Friday he was being fired. Plenty of time for any number of people, including him, to leak it.
I have no doubt ownership does its fair share of leaking but Glazer, who has a solid reputation, says he was told by Gase and Kelly directly what happened. Why doubt it?
If Chip had a QB that could throw a few more wins would have happened. But injuries and a lack of talent doomed this season. Baalke did a poor job at obtaining talent and addressing the offensive woes. Baalke was also a poor performer in the FA market. To his credit he left the team in a good cap position so changes should occur rapidly.

I do feel a bit sorry for Kelly. He knew the roster going in but 20 players on IR on an already thin roster is unbelievable. The man had no chance and was a decent person all the way to the end, don’t see him being a HC again unless he gets an OC job and delivers for a few years first.

This is what has been absolutely wrong about Baalke’s method of selecting players (other than the obvious ACL warriors problem), he only takes what he considers BPA, without regard to the roster weaknesses. Here is a paragraph on Ron Wolfs method:
Wolf believed in creating a home-grown roster, stockpiling quarterbacks, having patience to develop players and following a simple mantra, according to Emily Kaplan of Monday Morning Quarterback: “Identify what needs to be fixed, then go fix it.”
Most of the current GM candidates come from the Ron Wolf school of thought and are in the playoffs with their teams.
Baalke should have been selecting BPA at a position of need, instead he completely ignored need and compounded that by not filling in with free agents sufficiently.

One good bit of news is the Niners are the only team currently searching for a GM, should land a big fish with those odds.
It is hard to believe what any sports writer says but most of what I have heard does paint Baalky as being a weasel. He totally screwed up our roster and continually gave his draft picks a lot more room than he did with the FA’s that seemed to play much better ball. There is so much blame to go around that one person could not be solely responsible.
Well, we saw what happened with Marcus Rush. He was great in the preseason and never got a shot to outplay the stiffs that Trent drafted.
Ballard has already turned us down. From what I gather from the webs the other candidates are:
Tom Gamble, a disciple of Bill Polian
Scott Pioli, a Belichick disciple
Louis Riddick, ESPN analyst and former 49er draft pick back in 1991
The rest of these guys are from the Ron Wolf tree of life:
Trey Brown, Eagles. A rising star who could be the youth and vitality the team desperately needs.
Nick Caserio, New England DPP has been working alongside Belichick since 2002.
Trent Kirchner, Seahawks – Jason La Canfora says 49ers are showing interest in Trent Kirchner and Scott Fitterer, co-directors of player personnel with Seattle. Be nice to take something from them for a change.
George Paton, Vikings – Ass’t GM ready for an upgrade? Minnesota has been fairly decent drafting. Better than Baalke anyway.
Eliot Wolf, Packers. Highly regarded guy. Ron’s son. ‘Nuff said.

There was always going to be the problem of having a completely shitty defense with Chip at the helm. From that stand point, I’m glad he’s gone.
Maybe I missed it but I don’t remember any player speak well of the DC O’Neil either.
Yeah, the defensive problems fall at the feet of the DC O’Neill. And the guy that picked O’Neill to BE the DC. Yes, Baalke. Yeah, we were thin and got thinner but the wild inconsistency was dramatic and terrible. We couldn’t stop the run at all.
The linebackers were wildly out of position on so many plays it was baffling. The D line went through a shitload of injuries and was fair to middling, but if any RB got through the line, it was a guaranteed 15-20 yard run.
Throw in the fact that every 3rd quarter seemed to include 5 3-and-outs in a row from the offense, and you have 38 points given up all the time.
O’Neil was way out of his depth. Just not ready to be a DC, I think he was the youngest DC in the league IIRC.

Everybody lost. Baalke and Kelly both lost their jobs. It’s how this works.
And if there’s one thing York and Marathe and qualified to judge, it’s political back-stabbing and leaking to try to get yourself in the best light.
* Why is Marathe back on the main stage after he was banished out of the team presidency last year?
Marathe was demoted by the Yorks to try to stop the flow of leaks against Colin Kaepernick, and the leaks did indeed stop once Marathe was out of the inner circle.
But he is always a wild-card because he has that connection with Jed, and if Marathe is around, always look for other executives to get fired and Marathe to move forward when that happens.
