Well, the fun that has transpired since the last game has become stupidly overblown and regurgitated by the media ad infinitum. Blah blah blah. Even the pundits think is is a publicity stunt. Bullshit. All this is about is Kaepernick wants off the 49ers. Whether he gets hired again, now or next season, is beside the point. He wants out and this is yet another means to an end. His play was shitty enough the other day, but before his misguided attempt at whatever the hell his stand is, I was willing to let hm play in the next preseason game to see if he got better. Well, you torched that bridge.

As an aside, Colin, spend some time in the Tenderloin, or the Oakland projects, or at any number of homeless shelters and donate time and money to the people there trying to make a difference in the lives of the disadvantaged and the disenfranchised. Not standing during the National Anthem makes you look out of touch with the people who defend the flag and what it stands for. In other words, your stance is more petulant and childish than anything else.

Nut up or shut up. You are on company time when you make your stand. You should honor that, and the fact they are PAYING you $12 million to play a game. But I think that is the point entirely. Forcing the team to cut your ass.

Definitely another year of wait and see and that is just what we gotta do. I liked the way Baalky drafted this year. I doubt any will be real impact players this year. So really the only way to judge is to go back a couple of years and see how they do. Not holding my breath. Our defense is gonna take a beating this year because our QB plays it so safe. But, that really isn’t his fault because there is very little to gamble with on our offense.

Chip Kelly interview about San Diego game etc. Most of the questions are obvious but I have to say I enjoy watching his interviews. Harbaughs were irritating, Tomsula’s were incoherent, Kelly is patient and informative. Some good stuff and a few nuggets about O line depth:

Dial is supposed to play on opening day. With Kap on the roster that should make it a closer loss.

I like Dial a lot too. That front 3 or 4 depending on alignment is very promising.

I still think Kap will be on the game day roster for a few weeks. I don’t think it will make much difference in the short term. New season is enough excitement to ignore the mess Kap made. If it drags on though, I can see it becoming a malignancy that grows rapidly, every time he sits his dumb ass while his teammates honor their country and flag.
This “look at me” stunt will get old.

The reason I think it is a decent possibility he gets cut before the first game is if he gets injured in a game or practice and is not cleared by March he get 14 mil guaranteed next year. I would not want to take any chance this could linger. It is just sound business sense to cut him.

      • 12th man's avatar 12th man says:

Yeah I agree with that and it definitely could go that way, but I think they will moth ball him on the 53 just in case Gabbert is a bust or gets injured. Lets face it, if they though Gabbert was the answer they would have made him the starter from the get go or at least once Kap got injured and they had an excuse.

    • Berger's avatar Berger says:

If Kap is on the roster vs the Rams I predict we lose. If he is cut on the cut to 53 I predict a win. If he gets cut between those dates I would probably say the Rams will win.

I don’t really agree. Unless Kap is the starting QB, I don’t think his negativity will have influence over the first game of the season, not to sway the outcome anyway. Every player is focused and pumped up for that so basically it’s “fuck that guy” for the first game. At least I hope so.

I see the guy as a pariah now, but without any real influence, at least early on.

Where’s Dennis? We just got a WR named Kerely. Now we just need a Larry and a Moe. I thought Dennis would be all over that one!

Kap and Boone back together again has a certain poetry to it…

Hah! That would be awesome if it comes to pass.

Funny thing is, Kappy is getting grief for exercising his freedom. Freedom to be stupid, yes, but freedom nonetheless.

Certainly gong to be a very highly watched preseason game.

I know! It’s a fucking Goodie Goodell plot!!!

I’m still bummed about Borland retiring. He was going to be such a stud. THAT was a great draft pick. Show Trent the love, boys!

  8. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Should be 5, Kap, Staley, Bow, AD and Miller, right, 12th?

  9. Winder's avatar Winder says:

I don’t see any benefit to having Kap on the roster one minute longer.

  10. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Any word on the cut downs? I’m not seeing anything anywhere yet.

New thread is up . . .Yeah, figures about Ellington. Another guy waylaid by the preseason.
