Hey, since there’s no football news to speak of, and I’m not really into hockey, the talk of the Bay Area is the Golden State Warriors.
Frankly, the Cleveland Cavaliers must be thinking, what the fuck? We hold Steph and Klay to a combined 8-27, and a combined total of 20 points (lowest all season) and still get blown out? James, Love, and Irving scored 66 points compared to Stpeh, Klay, and Green combined for a paltry 36 and the game is basically garbage time most of the 4th quarter? Disheartening to say the least.
Tale of the game was the benches. 45 to 10 was a giant advantage for the Dubs. To lose that handily has to be a tough pill to swallow for LeBron and Co. Funny thing is, Andre Igluodala had his own Steve Adams moment when St. Mary’s alum Matthew Dellavedova smacked Iggy in the jigglies. After the common (really?) foul, the Warriors, up 3 at the time, went on a nice run starting with Iggy hitting a 3 right after the play and never looked back.
Needless to say, there are a couple ways to look at this. BronBron called out his bench after the game, saying they have to do a better job. They can hang their hat on the fact they shut down the Splash Bros, and think they can shut our bench down as they played out of their minds. Problem with that is, it is a rare occurrence when the rainmakers get shut down 2 games in a row. Both rarely get shut down at the same time, so there may be something to that, but I’d be worried if I was Cleveland about those two. The Warriors will likely not get 20 from Shaun or 11 from the Brazilian Blur, but Iggy wil contribute, and the Splash Bros should combine for about 60 next game.
Most encouraging thing to me was to see Harrison Barnes contributing inside and making shots. I said it before the series that the Cavs are not in our class. I think Portland is better than the Cavs. OKC as well.

OK, I changed the words a little, but the host essentially just said that. ESPN has been scared to death of Oakland all playoffs long. “So here we are, in Akron. You can see Cleveland on this map. It’s that big dot there. See?”

I can tell now that this is going to be a very difficult game for the W’s to win. Cleveland got what it wanted getting Green out and they fully intend to win. After a decent start, the W’s cannot buy a basket right now and Cleveland is walking into the paint. Irving and James are lighting it up
Again, Green brings this shit on himself, but the NBA should be ashamed of itself suspending a key player in a huge game like this. It really smacks of political bullshit.

Chuck it’s not that I’m giving Baalke a pass on his personnel choices.
It’s the fact that he’s being placed in a compromised position of authority in this FO structure.
A non-football Whiz Kid playing analytics and, being a divisive wedge between the GM and HC, is where the problem exists IMO.
Football is predicated on having players that fit a specific system, not checking all the analysis boxes.
If the HC and GM can’t mutually agree, on those players that best fit their plan, where in hell does analytics bring anything constructive to the process?
The larger issue here is the 3 Stooges, all of whom are in no way connected to any experiences involving an NFL franchise, (other than Jed tagging along with Uncle Eddie), having heavy influence on what happens with the roster.

If Paraag is dictating, or at least influencing, the Draft process with his analysis/algorithms, Baalke is already handicapped from the jump.
It would appear, that Chip and Baalke have already made more progress together with this years selections, than I could assume occurred with Harbaugh and Baalke.
Perhaps this is what finally forced the removal of Paraag from the position he held prior to Chips’ arrival?
It’s not about the GM’s success so much for me, it’s about the GM being undermined by weasels, that have no clue about football.
If baalky is such a wet noodle then he has no business being a GM. His draft record speaks for itself.
Wet noodle or otherwise Winder, I simply want him to work with the HC and find players that fit.
I’d do his job for half of whatever he’s getting paid right now.
