Hey, since there’s no football news to speak of, and I’m not really into hockey, the talk of the Bay Area is the Golden State Warriors.
Frankly, the Cleveland Cavaliers must be thinking, what the fuck? We hold Steph and Klay to a combined 8-27, and a combined total of 20 points (lowest all season) and still get blown out? James, Love, and Irving scored 66 points compared to Stpeh, Klay, and Green combined for a paltry 36 and the game is basically garbage time most of the 4th quarter? Disheartening to say the least.
Tale of the game was the benches. 45 to 10 was a giant advantage for the Dubs. To lose that handily has to be a tough pill to swallow for LeBron and Co. Funny thing is, Andre Igluodala had his own Steve Adams moment when St. Mary’s alum Matthew Dellavedova smacked Iggy in the jigglies. After the common (really?) foul, the Warriors, up 3 at the time, went on a nice run starting with Iggy hitting a 3 right after the play and never looked back.
Needless to say, there are a couple ways to look at this. BronBron called out his bench after the game, saying they have to do a better job. They can hang their hat on the fact they shut down the Splash Bros, and think they can shut our bench down as they played out of their minds. Problem with that is, it is a rare occurrence when the rainmakers get shut down 2 games in a row. Both rarely get shut down at the same time, so there may be something to that, but I’d be worried if I was Cleveland about those two. The Warriors will likely not get 20 from Shaun or 11 from the Brazilian Blur, but Iggy wil contribute, and the Splash Bros should combine for about 60 next game.
Most encouraging thing to me was to see Harrison Barnes contributing inside and making shots. I said it before the series that the Cavs are not in our class. I think Portland is better than the Cavs. OKC as well.

This makes perfect sense. Might be a little early but I sense we have only “adequate” returners currently on the roster, and no “sizzle” guy. hopefully, we’ll find that guy when other teams are forced to make roster cuts. As far as Kaep he’s washed up and I wish we would stop wasting time like this.

Rob- right now we got no clue to what we are gonna look like. All I know is that most of these 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year players really have to step it up if we are gonna make a shot at anything. We need the “shot in the arm” for the players to all buy in and maybe, just maybe(wishful thinking) we can be competitive. Football is gonna have to be fun for these guys and the FO has got to cut the crap.

The front office is obviously a clusterfuck. Harbaugh showed that winning obscures a lot of bullshit, but the bullshit is still there. It was there before. It is there now. And it is mainly the same cast.

It’s crazy but I remember Geep simplified the offense before the Giants game hoping to make it easier for Kap who struggles going through progressions, and is constantly confused reading the defense. With the way the offensive line was performing, he would have been killed anyway. Kaep again had to learn that dumbed down offensive version. For me withholding judgement until Gabbert goes through Kelly’s system which is also a single read offense for the most part but choices have to be made quickly as the defense commits. We already know Kaep is weak at the point of attack which we have to pray Gabbert can consistently think the faster than him, make the right choice, while get rid of the ball quickly. At this point let’s try anyone but Kaep as we already know he’s a dead fish hanging around a stinky situation. Young Jedi continues to force us to believe we’re all eating at a five star restaurant when he should be handing us all barf bags to endure another stomach turning season.

Kap was taken advantage of with his contract. His agents were amateurs and Kap was naive to believe Baalke would use the saved money to keep his favorite players.
I think that is at the heart of the distrust he has, but it was his own fault for living in the land of rainbows and unicorns.
I said when he signed his contract it would bite the org for being too greedy and it did. Players lost trust with them.
If he is right in the head, Kap will beat out Gabbert IMO.
To that end 12th, I put those Contract dealings on Paraag.
Baalke is the guy wearing the GM Cap certainly but, I’m of the mind that he’s simply wearing the title to make him relevant in football terms.
This charade is being perpetrated by the ‘business’ guys over the ‘football’ guys.
Baalke has his faults, no question.
I simply think he’s in a no-win situation with the Cheapo Yorko’s manipulating the business model.

I humbly call bullshit on that assessment, NJ. Baalke’s drafts have been terrible. Drafting doesn’t cost anything. That’s on him, not Paraag, York, or anyone else. Paraag is the contract guy. Sure. The front office is a mess of epic proportions, but Baalkengets no pass here for the other problems. He’s a PART of the problem.
Chuck the analytics aspect of these personnel decisions fall squarely on Paraag.
Paraag is a quasi-GM behind the guy holding the title of GM.
Baalke has been castrated to some extent by these analytics.
Go back to who hired Harbaugh and question what took place to put the two of them odds.
It likely started and ended with interference from Paraag IMO.
He didn’t like Harbaugh.
He didn’t like Kaep.
Enough fuel for the fire?
I simply don’t see what the need is for Paraag to be meddling in personnel decisions beyond the Contract phase.
Dr Daddy gave him much too much authority within the Organization.
Baalke isn’t in full control of this process by any stretch.
He’s answering to the Whiz Kids and Dr Daddy.
We’re a dysfunctional mess because of it.
You can’t extrapolate College data reasonably into the Pro game.
Football guys find football players.
GM/HC need to communicate their philosophies directly into their personnel.
You still have to find out what makes these kids tick beyond an NFL paycheck and their 40 times.
It’s tough work when it becomes your primary occupation.
How else do you explain the efforts Baalke made to land Gase?
Who torpedoed those efforts?
The ‘GM’ goes after a HC candidate and gets derailed?
It’s called dysfunction.

Baalke’s main job is to draft talent. He and 31 other guys have the same job and same info. He sucks at doing it. End of story. All the other machinations happened and are happening, but in the end, Baalke is not giving the team talent through the draft.
