Eddie D Finally Gets In . . . !

Jed York’s uncle, you may have heard of him, was finally elected to the Hall of Fame, as a ‘contributor.’ Say what you will about him and his flawed character and eventual downfall, he was a fiercely proud and determined owner who stood by his players way above and beyond most of these other guys. 5 Super Bowls, numerous Hall of Famers, and millions of fans around the league and the world, he drove the team to heights never seen before or since. Granted, it was a pre-salary cap, and mostly pre-free agency NFL, but Eddie set the standard for treating his players right, and making sure the team was prepared and ready to play.

The players to a man would run through walls for Eddie D, and to a man they still would. Nice to see it get announced right before the Super Bowl in his team’s stadium. And in lame HOF news, the Hall of Fame voters waited till the Snake died to let him in. How he isn’t in and a guy like Namath waltzes in is ridiculous. Glad to hear it, but it was about 15 years too late. Also, Anquan Boldin wins the NFL Walter Peyton award. Nice job Anquan. Class guy and a role model for players all over the league.

It was cool to see  Eddie D last year at the flag football game to close the Stick last year. He made the game winning catch thrown by Joe in the exact opposite corner where Dwight Clark.

    And, oh yeah, there’s a football game later . . . .

    Carolina wins going away 34-17.

Already working on tickets for Canton this Summer Chuck.
    Gotta get there for Eddie.

If anyone else is planning to make the trip we’ll have to get together for a beer.
    Keep you posted….

Another one bites the dust, RIP Dan Hicks. I used to love seeing him play, what a showman. His Hot Licks were what made the show but he always had audience participation that just made for a good time.
Funny, but I am not even interested in today’s game, not sure I will spend much time watching it.

    One more

Shit, another titan of the San Francisco sound gone. Between Hicks and the Charlatans, the Airplane and the Dead, it pretty much covered the blueprint of the 60s sound from San Francisco.

V is tied to his bed……..his handlers are tired of chasing him down the halls of the “home” wondering where’s he going. When they found him drinking on all fours at the dog water fountain that finally did it. V is grounded!

Carolina is letting Denver hang around.

  8. Irish Kevin says:

This game reminds me of the Niner – Miami game, Dan M with all his TD’s during the regular season. And then he faces the Niner D and didn’t do diddley!!

  9. unca_chuck says:

The diff being manning has done little. Carolina is wasting their shots.

  10. unca_chuck says:

    Ginn giveth Ginn taketh away.

  11. unca_chuck says:

One of the most boring Super Bowls of all time.

  12. Irish Kevin says:

    Way to go Dever!!

  13. unca_chuck says:

All the Mannings look happy except for Eli

  14. Irish Kevin says:

    Cam who???

  15. unca_chuck says:

If Von Miller isn’t MVP then this is Stoopid.

  16. unca_chuck says:

Carolina looked like they believed the hype machine. They didn’t look ready.

Turnovers killed ’em. Denver’s D took it to ’em.

  17. Lurker John says:

How ’bout those BRONCOS! Cam and his boys figured to just show up and they’d get the win. Instead they shit out a big turd. As boring as the game was, I enjoyed watching Cam get his ass kicked. You saw his true character when he wouldn’t dive into the pile to recover his own fumble. Jumped out of the way. he did.

I wouldn’t have that guy on my team for all the tea in China. Denver has a great D!

  18. Nipper says:

Denver’s Defense came to play big time. Period. Damn…… wrong again. I’m glad I didn’t place any wagers on this game.

“On behalf of my family, the San Francisco 49ers organization and our Faithful fans around the world, I would like to congratulate my uncle, Eddie DeBartolo Jr., on his selection to the Pro Football Hall of Fame,” said CEO Jed York. “There could be no more appropriate setting for this honor to be bestowed on him than during the 50th anniversary of the Super Bowl in the region to which he delivered five Lombardi Trophies. Uncle Eddie’s impact on the game of football runs much, much deeper than simply the championships won by this franchise. He is the best owner in the history of the NFL because of the culture he created and how it still impacts the game to this day. Just walking through the city with him this week, you could see the love that remains for him from his former players, those his teams competed against, and fans from around the league. I think I speak for them all when I say, congratulations Mr. D. We love you.”

  20. Nipper says:

Another season is over. Now for the real work of building up the 49ers to achieve future glory. History is waiting to be made.

  21. Winder says:

The NFL is not looking very professional and yesterday’s game is a prime example. Maybe I am getting a little old and my memories are faded but the product on the field yesterday sucked. As someone said earlier and has been true since the NFL started: “defenses win championships.” But when offenses suck it makes defenses look good.

Winder it’s time for you to post a music video. You’ll feel better and so would the rest of us.

  22. unca_chuck says:

Yeah, that was the crappiest Super Bowl in a loooong time. I sense a theme here.
