A Coach, a Coach, My Kingdom for a Coach

Any thoughts out there on the coaching search?

  • Is Hue the answer?
  • Chud?
  • Coughlin?
  • Holmgren/Shanny?
  • DeFilippo?
  • Anthony Lynn?
  • Other?
  • Unknown brainiac?

I think Hue would be a good hire, mainly because he’s used to clusterfucks as a way of coaching, and he’s got a solid ofensive plan. His one caveat, which may turn him off to lots o’ people, is his huge desire for the Raiders to draft Kappy during that 2012 draft.

I’m of a mind that Kappy still has a lot o to offer. I just wonder it it will be here. And yes I still think we need to try and get Goff in the 1st round.

Hue’s the one playing the field right now. He doesn’t have to jump at our offer. He can play it cool and see what other teams offer. If Jed doesn’t get Hue, it’ll be just like last year. A total fuckup on our part.

We’ve made it very clear that we want Hue. If he passes, it’ll be a kick to the oblongs for Jed and the organization.

There are a few guys I’d like to see brought in for a talk. If Hue bows us off. Rob Chudzinski has done well as Carolina’s OC. I seriously hope they don’t go the Shanny/Holmgren/Coughlin route.

These guys may just be placeholders for the chance to get Sean Payton in a couple years, but that’s asinine thinking. He’s got 2 years left on his current contract. If the Saints crater this year, he may get fired anyway, but that seems a slim thread to hang on to to get the guy they want. And it means 1/2 years of stagnation.

Rumors are flying around re Hue.

Tim Kawakami of the Merc reported Tuesday afternoon that the 49ers are “no longer in the Hue Jackson sweepstakes. They COULD double-back, but sounds like that pursuit is over for now.”

He later tweeted that Jackson was the 49ers’ frontrunner, “but something happened the last few days.” He indicated that the most likely “something” was the Browns.

The 49ers were busy interviewing former Giants coach Tom Coughlin on Tuesday in New York. Kawakami and Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee both reported that Coughlin could ask Browns offensive coordinator John DeFilippo to join him in San Franciso.

Jackson says he wants to inferview with the Giants before ha makes any kind of decision.

Once again it looks like the Niners may be on the outside looking in when it comes to all these hires. If they don’t understand why by now, then they are clueless.

Jed might be a moron but, this mess is all on Baalke’s head. I don’t care who did what in the front office our roster decisions are on Baalke his draft record is horrible. The reason why no one wants to be our HC is also on Baalke, you can bank on it.

    • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

I was alluding to the fat that Baalke is the one who blocked the Gase move last year. By reason of not wanting to give up absolute control of the draft. Near as I can figure. I can’t see Jed giving a shit about Tomsula that much. Then again, that whole thing doesn’t make sense.

If this is the case, then we will get another no-name/newbie head coach, as no big name guy will want to relinquish control over the draft picks.

Which is why I wanted Baalke gone in the first place.

      Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

Hmmm, wonder if ol’ Hue is waiting for the axe to fall on Marvin Lewis?

The mgmt certainly could be fed up with the players’ antics under Lewis. It hasn’t improved in his tenure. If anything it has gotten worse. Kind of a Raiders east.

The HC can only do so much. He needs a strong organization behind him which doesn’t exist in Santa Clara. It’s just not up to standards. Basically the Yorks are a mom and pop operation with a lot of bozos trying to be football savvy. They are not and the results are very apparent. Baalke is basically a scout. He scouts talent or hires guys to bird dog talent. And of course the talent keeps declining year to year. The results are just not there.

It is nice to be able to hate as much as I used to! When the Rams moved to St Louis I went live on the Mike Golic show( I was already doing his racing segment on Fridays) in Phoenix. I wrote faxes and letters to the LA Times and called into the LA radio shows to tell them we need to stop the Rams moving from the LA area because there is no way I could hate them as much if they moved. I was even happy for them when they won the Super Bowl in St Louis. There is no way that happens if they were in LA. Now that they are moving back I can get back to hating them as much as I used to. Welcome back Rams. Go 49ers! It is so nice to hate each other like we used to!

    • Nipper's avatar Nipper says:

Yeah Rams are in LA. Raiders get shut out. Davis is all smoke and mirrors. Now he’ll try and con Oakland to give him some money. NFL saw through the Davis sham. San Diego at least has options which I bet they don’t take to move in with the Rams. Better to be miserable in San Diego than being second fiddle to the Rams.

    • Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Ya, it’s going to be weird with the Rams being back in LA, but good too. That town should have an NFL franchise. There was a time, before the Golden Years, when the Rams fucking owned the Niners. As such, I grew up hating them as much as I hated the Dodgers.

  8. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Tomsula was the guy last year because he was all that was left after all the prime candidates told Baalke to take a flying leap. Talk about settling for the toilet brush. Nothing personal against Tomsula, but he was a horrible choice as a head coach. It’s like redux time this year. Jed should’ve canned Baalke. I’m sounding like a broken record, but I think it’s going hard to draw in top coaching talent as long as that dude is still GM.

    • Nipper's avatar Nipper says:

That’s what happens when the owner is really just a name chosen by his relatives to run something he’s not equipped to deal with. “Winning with class” is bullshit. Who’s Jed kidding besides himself? He’s a joke and a joke he will remain.

You guys see Nolan is out as LB coach for the Chargers. Keeps sliding down the totem pole like its greased.

Babich in, Nolan out for Chargers

With our luck Jed will rehire him andhe’ll come back here.

  11. snarkk's avatar snarkk says:

Kroenke would have moved to LA even if St. Louis offered him a gold plated stadium to stay. The LA dough is way too alluring. To a guy who has enough money that he can even count it. That is why cities shouldn’t drop in any of their own money to help out these owners. The owners will leave to wherever there is more money, no such thing as loyalty back to loyal fans….

    • Nipper's avatar Nipper says:

Oakland is a prime example. Davis is ready to hop a moving van at the slightest hint of a new stadium in another town. He’s got no lease in Oakland. Loyalty is merely a word to him.

  12. Winder's avatar Winder says:

I’m glad the Raiders are staying in Oakland, it truly is who they are. No one can say Raider fans are not loyal they have had to put up with a lot of crap over the years. It does sound like the stadium project with the chargers was a little too much for the league to ok.

  13. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah, but it’s merely a stop-gap for a year or 2. Mark Davis still wants to move the team into a gleaming new stadium. Funny to me is the pass he gets from Raider fans. He’s actively trying to leave Oakland, and the fans are like, ehhh. When they go, will they still like him?

    New thread is up.
