The Official Cut List and Ahmad Brooks? Come on Down!

Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Shield.

WR DiAndre Campbell
CB Marcus Cromartie
G/C Dillon Farrell
RB Kendall Gaskins
TE Xavier Grimble
CB Leon McFadden
LB Nick Moody
DT Kaleb Ramsey
OL Justin Renfrow
DL Marcus Rush
NT Garrison Smith
QB Dylan Thompson
G Andrew Tiller
S Jermaine Whitehead

IR: WR Dres Anderson, TE Busta Anderson, RB Kendall Hunter

Huh. No one of note on the cutdown-list (well Nick Moody is a little surprise) as Kendall Hunter was rolled to the IR, as was WR Dres Anderson. Desmond Bishop and the Niners reached an injury settlement, still and all if this was the direction they decided to go, I would have liked to see Stuka stick around. Oh well.

The big side-story is Ahmad Brooks is cleared to play. By the league AND the team. Yippee. Winning with class. Except when it gets in the way of a player who we need out there.

Another chance to make a stand, but the league and the team deem it frivolous and unworthy. Smoke a joint and feel the wrath. Beat up your GF? Well, boys will be boys. Carry on. Here’s to hoping the coach has something to say about this. Frankly I’m sick of these guys getting away with (sometimes literally) murder, and then being cleared to play as if nothing happened.

Jim Harbaugh famously chided his brother for welcoming Ray Rice back with open arms after the initial 2-game suspension for knocking his girlfriend out in a Las Vegas elevator, then hid behind the ‘due process’ mantra when it came to RayMac and his domestic abuse charge. He didn’t even bother to bench Aldon Smith hours after his DUI. It’s easy to lay blame at the feet of others, as Harbaugh did with the Seahawks and their steroid issues, but when the chickens came home to roost, he took the weasel way out.

My hope is Jim Tomsula benches Brooks for the game as no one else on the team or in the league gives a shit about the issue at hand. Well, let’s all wear pink for the fallen wives out there. I bet Rae Carruth is laughing in jail.

Before Aldon and AD left and Simpson and Brooks got in trouble AND Kilgore went on PUP I said 10-6.
Now I have to fudge it to 9-7.
Assuming tomsula is a successful head coach. My even bigger concern is Chryst as OC. Not to mention the right side of the O-line.
If they stink it up … UH OH

I look at this the other way. To me as VP of player personnel Baalke was Scott’s right hand. Baalke’s thumbprint is all over the 2010 draft and his was the final say. He did make the picks after after all and no doubt had a key role in setting the board too.
Even before that as Scott’s #2 clearly had a huge impact on our drafts PRIOR to 2010

    !!!!

      BTW RT
Don’t miss my references above to Yahoo sports and Sirius and others.
All had Baalke rated top 6 or better in their nfl GM rankings

Here we are, 4 days from the real deal and thee are still a shitload of questions out there. Mostly stemming around our eager yet still not fully polished QB. Scheme over ability? System over style? Kappys obviously a smart young man, but for all intents to and purposes he needs to make quicker decisions. Have they worked that into the mix? Time will tell.

Funny how many time this team was outcoached last year (the fuckin Raiders?) and now it’s coming up as a problem now. How many leads were lost? 6? Like it was kappys fault we couldn’t get pays off until it was decided that it didn’t matter. But it was still his fault. One delay penalty in 4 games and you could hear the clucking for miles.

    I agree 100 %

Nice article. Certainly one way to keep your starters fresh is to not use them. I ain’t sold on it completely, but last year’s preseason took its toll and added to the problems with holdouts and such. Funny, if all was well in Ninerland las year, as the revisionists would like to say, then why did VD and Boone hold out? Why the complaining about the play calling?

Oh yeah, it was all imaginary.

Like I said, I think the backups did what we plan to do. Quicker passes, zone blocking. Roll Kappy out to the right. But, the right side is still a big ??? I know we’ll be running to the left side more often than not.

Dennis, good to see you’ve replaced Flying V as the resident blowhard.

Skabies is calling the Minn game a must-win (sound familiar Del?) and hopes that Turner torches us. There’s your butt-hurt Harbaugh lovers for you. When the coach is bigger than the team, you end up with problems. How easily they forget how shitty we were last year WITH all those players and coaches that are no longer here.

There’s no problem with last year’s failure. What a bunch of crybabies.

  6. Berger's avatar Berger says:

Looks like we have RT and NJ are already wanting Gabbert instead of Kap. We’ll need to keep tabs on that. Del doesn’t count, he hates everything 49ers.

  7. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

RT, Bergs is just in shit-disturber mode. Blabbert is what he is. A career backup. If you think he should be starting, well, that is a different issue.

Wow. When NoFear starts revising his own history, then the shit is getting thick. He’s saying Turner took the SD job because he saw the impending trouble coming up in 8 years.

Fucking lunacy. The lengths they go to to fling shit around is astounding,

Entertaining as well. Good for some laughs, that’s for sure.

  8. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Besides, NoFear still thinks this team is as talented as the 2012 one. He doesn’t dare admit that there has been player turnover. To admit that is to admit that the standard from 3 years ago is different than what happens now. Of course it is, because losing Harbaugh made guys retire and leave. They would have healed had St Jim stuck around. Players would have taken less money to stay rather than go. You know, kindergarten stuff. Fantasy land material.

Football is a business except when dealing with St Jim. Harbaugh is the messiah!!!

  9. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    One question for NoFear.

What do you think the Niners record would be had St Jim stuck around? Do you really think the Niners would be Super Bowl favorites had he stayed?

  10. rtfirefly's avatar rtfirefly says:

Shit-disturber mode is usually Friday. But then, it’s finally OPENING DAY and maybe Reno is taking a long weekend. Pats 37 – Steelers 32 BTW.

  11. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

That’s right. There’s a game tonight. The Steelers defensive backfield will be hard pressed to stop anything. 48-27 Pats.

It’ll be interesting to see how hard they attack the DBs. Would like to think we can learn something. I mean shit, we scored 34 on the Pats a couple years ago. And we beat the Steelers a couple years ago as well. Different teams tho.

  12. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    NoFear’s response.

  13. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah, ROB!!! Why can’t you wallow in misery like Skabies and the open wounds??

God damn. They are reaching new lows in how far to search for shit to complain about.

Makes for endless entertainment. They’ve even driven Spitty and Flying V away. That takes some doing . . .

  14. rtfirefly's avatar rtfirefly says:

Good thing I’m not at Justin Herman Plaza. Geez, The City couldn’t afford a band with talent? Blondie’s 70 now and I bet she’ll still better than this prat.

  15. Berger's avatar Berger says:

Problem was Harbaugh drove everyone off. Too many players stopped enjoying the game because of his style. No possible way Harbaugh would have been .500 this year. He might have had the worst record in the league. His college offense was a disaster. Even the players were calling out the “dumb schemes”.

  16. rtfirefly's avatar rtfirefly says:

1 drive each for elite offenses and 0 pts.

  17. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah Brady didn’t look too sharp this preseason. But we’ll see.

  18. rtfirefly's avatar rtfirefly says:

DHB with the 48 yard catch!

  19. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

So the big question appears to be is the Viking game a must win, a about two weeks ago Brent Jones on KNBR with Tolbert said it is not a must win, with a “but” thrown in. With all the lost players and new coaches no one is picking the Niners to win, a win over the Vikings would help build the confidence of the players, a lost would only and fuel to the naysayers comments. A loss will cause the shoulda, woulda kept Harbaug talk. So a win is not a must…but….

  20. rtfirefly's avatar rtfirefly says:

DHB wide open in the endzone and he plants one foot out of bounds for the catch. Hoooookay. The Raiders are happy they’ve got Amari Cooper.

  21. Berger says…”No possible way Harbaugh would have been .500 this year. He might have had the worst record in the league.”

And who pray tell would have been leading that charge under center to this year’s 2-14 campaign?

Stop defending that worthless POS from UNR. He stinks on ice.

And for the love of Christ. Tell him to take off those goddamn headphones!

  22. And I never want to hear that 2 plays called in the huddle BS excuse ever again.
A real fucking QB would have figured out that shit ain’t working and put a halt to it post-paste and just called one. But no. Alex and Kap are good soldiers. Good at taking orders.

If you ever want to win another Super Bowl, best go find us another general under center.

  23. rtfirefly's avatar rtfirefly says:

This game should be 14-13 but now the Steelers aren’t shooting themselves in the ass anymore, the Pats are making that D look awful..

  24. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Well, RT you were a little closer. Although NE took their foot off the gas.

    • rtfirefly's avatar rtfirefly says:

The Steelers pretty much self-destructed in that game. Leaving Gronk alone unguarded for a TD? Unfortunately for them, mistakes like that, the kicker, DHB, and more killed them throughout

  25. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Odd how any positive comments about the Niners unleashes the wrath of the weasels.

Fuck those little pussy bitches. Fuck them hard and put ’em down wet. Those little fucks need to lighten up. Like Dennis, they take this shot way too seriously. Like the children that they are,

Plus we got ROB on their asses!!!

  26. Berger's avatar Berger says:

I keep hearing about this new up tempo offense. I don’t see it as up tempo compared to a hurry up offense. I would think this new priority on getting the ball hiked in a timely fashion is news to the 49er fans. For other fans it is just normal football.

I’ve read that Harbaugh intentionally ran the play clock down to use more TOP. I disagree with that philosophy. I say run the clock down by getting 1st downs.

Harby’s system allowed the opposing defense to know we were hiking the ball on one, which allowed them to get out of their stances at the same time we did. This gives up one of the biggest tactical advantages an offense has on their side, to get moving first. It is good to be playing at normal tempo again. The other advantage will be that if we do have to go hurry up we should be much more efficient at it this year. When we went hurry up last year the whole team looked in disarray. There is no way Harbaugh would have been a .500 coach this year. He would have been pummeled.

    • Nipper's avatar Nipper says:

Harbaugh is in Michigan where he is better suited. College coaches are treated like emperiors in those states.

  27. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah, we’ll see. But we rarely got down to 5 let alone 0. Of course in revisionist land 1 dog penalty = 4 years of clock mismanagement.

It helps in building a rhythm and keeps the defense honest.

Problem with running the clock Dow. Is itdowsnothi f coming off a timeout or incomplete pass. You are only hurting yourself by taking out the element on surprise on the snap.

Still and all it co ea down to making plays. I liked the drag routes to the TEs that we were using. Take what the defense gives and move the chains

  28. Nipper's avatar Nipper says:

Meanwhile on the “other” blog, they’re calling Kap “dumb” because the coaches have dumbed down the playbook. Skeebers fears for the worst.

  29. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Thought this would happen. Aldon Smith has signed with the Raiders. This giving more creedence to the fact you can pretty much live above the law once you are in the NFL.

    Hide behind the shield, folks.

  30. Winder's avatar Winder says:

I thought Aldon was gonna get suspended for the year. I guess Brady took the air out of Goodell.
