Game 3 Loometh-eth-eth . . .

Here we are at the penultimate game of the preseason. Usually reserved for the starters making one last effort at looking like they are ready for the regular season to get rolling. As of now, and even with the impending departure of Ahmad Brooks, the defense looks like it is in decent shape. No we aren’t nearly as deep as we once were, but with Bowman back, Dockett ready to go, and a up-and-coming set of young linebackers, I think the D can play close to the level of last year. A feat in itself when you look at the injuries suffered by last year’s squad. Dontae Johnson has done well at CB, and rookie safety Tartt has done well. The hitting is there. The coverage remains to be tested in a strident manner.

The offense? Well, that’s a different kettle of fish. Near as I can guess, and I’m guessing I’m seeing what think I see, the zone blocking scheme we’ve been using has opened some big holes for Hyde, Davis, and even Hayne. Pass pro? Well. That’s where the kettle is. The protection has been spotty at best as the coaching staff moves the various pieces around. The WRs haven’t really gotten too involved as a result, and the 1st team offense has had a grand total of 3 drives, so it is time to let fly.

Hey Chuck, this twat V thinks you are really important to this country, you a Senator or something in your day job?

I can’t quite remember where I read this stuff about think and do as I do or have no say, oh wait, it just came back to me, it was Mein Kampf. You know the book? It’s a fun little piece all about freedom and liberty for all. Same kind of freedom this jackbooted dickhead draping himself in the Stars and Stripes V wants.

  14. 12th Man says:

    Chuck, check the filter plz.

  15. rtfirefly says:

Raiders D looking uncharacteristically stingy against the Cards. Of course last year they humbled the Seahawks in preseason…

  16. rtfirefly says:

Khalil Mack, Amari Cooper, wow this ain’t the Raiders we’ve come to hate and laugh at. Too bad they’re going to LA again.

  17. rtfirefly says:

Carr’s overthrown a few balls. That’s the one thing that’s kept this one from being a laugher.

  18. rtfirefly says:

OK, that wins the award for worst pass of the year. Not just a Pick-6, but THE Pick-6. Carr was having a so-so game, but that one puts it over the edge.

    • rtfirefly says:

That was a highlight film bad pass, one of the worst decisions and passes you will ever live to see.

      • rtfirefly says:

They attempted to set up a screen and everything went wrong: the D-line got to Carr too quickly, then the back went downfield instead of staying back for the ball. Then Carr double pumped – big mistake, and threw – bigger mistake – and history was made!

Engineering101 you seem to have all the answers for Society101, how about football?
I’m not blind to the facts surrounding the the drama in Santa Clara.
Like you, I’m not in a position to make business decisions for the 49ers.
I’m on the sideline so to speak.

I’ve posted my doubts ad nauseam over the past year.
Unfortunate that Harbaugh’s success couldn’t include better harmony with his superiors.
If it bothers you to the point of your apparent outrage, I’d suggest seeking another avenue to avoid the stresses of blogging here.
    You’ll likely live longer.

Politics disgusts me too. Unfortunately, we get the candidates by way of the Corporate Greed Machine that wants them there.
Our votes add up to one simple philosophy.
    Pick an Idiot.

    • rtfirefly says:

You’re trying to reason with V? Good luck with that, NJ.

      • NJ49er says:

No RT, simply not going to ignore the insults.

      • 12th Man says:

        Think that will help?

      • NJ49er says:

        Not a bit 12th.
But then again, ask me if I care?

      • NJ49er says:

If someone who didn’t know me was brazen enough to call me a weak spineless fool to my face, I’d gladly help him find his teeth for the DDS visit in the morning.
I don’t want to come off as a totally irresponsible 49er fan now, do I?

      • 12th Man says:

Read his manifesto. “Think as I do or lose any control over your life”. Where has the world heard that before?

      • NJ49er says:

        Stealers Wheel 12th –
Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right, here am I, stuck in the Middle with you 😀

      • 12th Man says:

The middle is where the smart money is NJ. Independents are the folks who actually decide elections by and large. Extreme right and left won’t be swayed by rhetoric no matter who says it. Their votes are in the bag already.

      • NJ49er says:

        Touche’ 12th 😀

  20. rtfirefly says:

Raiders have 6 road games at 10AM Pacific Time. Ouch!

  21. unca_chuck says:

    Scorn runs deep, RTF.

NoFear is still bitching his way through his narrative.

    “I MISS THE SUIT!!!”

  22. unca_chuck says:

God what a bunch of yammering idiots. They are all now fighting over who said “I saw it first!” Phil’s pathetic cries are funny as he used to post here about how fucked up Skeeb’s site was. No accounting for pancakes, eh? Your bi-polar episode was off the grid. Hope you got help for that.

Poor Jim. How would Harbaugh have fixed these line problems? Oh yeah. By running the play clock to 1 second on every play and playing QB.

Oh yeah. Smoke and mirrors. AD would have stayed. Willis would have toughed it out. As would have Borland. I’ve never met a collective group of mush-heads.

  23. unca_chuck says:

Amazing the lengths some go to point everything at Harbaugh’s departure. Yet there’s no truck given to the fact that Harbaugh wanted the Michigan job. And the problems with the line, which was a problem last year, would likely be happening now no matter who the coach was. I still firmly believe the team would be in worse shape with last year’s regime in place.

But the St. Jim circle-jerk continues.

    • rtfirefly says:

I’ll go back over once the season starts. Now it seems rather pointless. It’s Kappy’s fault of course. Get Sproles, DeMarco, Agholor and a bloody qualified NFL RT like the Eagles have and then tell me the problem is Kappy.

      • rtfirefly says:

Mack was eating the Arizona RT alive while he was in the game. The Raiders played Mack on the right and he was nearly getting to Palmer. They put him on the left and he was a terror. Well, he was a terror wherever lol.

    • 12th Man says:

It was a pre-season game where they changed up the starting O line and they went up against perhaps the premier pass rush tandem in football. What exactly are they hoping to divine from that?

  24. 12th Man says:

I would cut Hunter and Patton. Hunter is not recovered and Patton is just plain beaten out by Ellington and White.

    • NJ49er says:

Very much in the mix 12th.
Curious to see how they treat the FB position too.
Seems to me the TE is more valuable in the Offense I’ve seen thus far.
Power Run game required more from the FB. Maybe now, not so much?

      • NJ49er says:

Not so sure I’d expose Dres either if it can be avoided.

      • 12th Man says:

Celek got beat by Von Miller so easily, just blew by him.
Looks so far like the run game is what they will try to establish and play action off that. Makes sense given the pass pro on the right side has yet to be settled players wise. They are running out of time to figure it out.

I still think they made a mistake not putting Boone at RT but they didn’t do it last year while J Mart was getting killed so maybe I’m just full of shit and they know Boone is not up to playing RT. He played LT for Staley and was very good though.

WR: Boldin, Smith, White, Ellington and Anderson for now. Have to make more tough decisions at week 6 but I would carry 5 and add Simpson when he is available.

    • 12th Man says:

      Trade of possible.

      • NJ49er says:

I’m curious to see how they treat Boone this coming week 12th.
As you suggested, I feel the same way about Boone not going to RT.
Did he burn his bridge last year with the hold out?
Did he want more money than AD?
He’s a former LT from College, as was AD.
He was also an UDFA because of the character baggage he carried with him from College.
If his Agent is seeking OT money and, Baalke isn’t willing to go there, Boone could be playing elsewhere next week.
Pears could be slotted for the Swing Tackle duties while Baalke seeks to hold down RT until Trent Brown or someone else stakes a claim to it.

      • NJ49er says:

We’ve got Cap money to spend right now.
Baalke could well be in the market for another option at RT.
Waiting to see who hits the street next week or, make a deal for someone toiling on another depth chart certainly isn’t out of the question.
Pears is an improvement over JMart but not AD.

  25. NJ49er says:

Gotta look at the Chicago Bears as a possible landing spot for Dahl too.
Fangio guy, familiar with the system, who likely will be on the fringe with the youth stacked behind him now in SF.
This week is all about making moves before giving players away for nothing.

    • NJ49er says:

Every GM in the business now is watching and waiting for a specific need guy to hit the bricks.
If you can protect some players that might have value, you try to play that hand as a GM.

  26. rob says:

Well I guess the ian Silberman Erik pears right side experiment is over.

  27. rob says:

I was OK with the idea of a big left side with Staley and boone flanked by Kilgore but at this point we might look at a complete rethink.

Not so sure we shouldn’t think
LT Staley LG Thomas C Kilgore RG Martin RT Boone.

    • rob says:

I’m bummed that Evan Mathis got away I really wanted him here.. Now with Kilgore out we really should be looking for some outside help on the O-line

    • rob says:

The good news is Trent brown has been looking real good at RT !

  28. unca_chuck says:

Fuck, no fear, Iupati isn’t the problem. AD leaving after the fa signing period and the draft was the big problem.

Sorry you can’t post here with the real people but can only post with the St Jim broheim Magic fairy dust candy ass blog, but if you haven’t noticed, run blocking has not been the problem.

  29. unca_chuck says:

Yeah, Rob! Me too. He was there for months. Shoulda taken the shot. My only hope is cut-down day they can dumpster dive someone better than we got.
