Not much going on these days. The dust has settled, and the hens are clucking about the demise of the team. Oh, the unwashed masses. The hipsters are selling their tickets as fast as the hipsters coveted them it the first place. How easily they are distracted by the hope that wasn’t to be, and the reality that we now face. The team was getting old, the offense was stagnating, and the Lord God of coaches wanted to go to the Big House. Let’s hope the real fans realize that there was something to the team’s offensive woes, and the stagnation that seemed to creep in.
Throw out the meddling of the front office, or Harbaugh, or whoever engineered the maelstrom, and there’s very little that would be different right about now. Harbaugh wanted Super Bowl money for not winning the Super Bowl. Not gonna get it. Willis would have retired, Gore would have gone after the Indy money, Cully and Cox would have chased the money they weren’t going to get here as well. Borland? Yup. No one saw that. The coaching exodus? Not sure around the report that Gase would have stayed but for Jed saying Tomsula had to be the DC is simply baffling since that precludes the notion that this is Baalke’s team. Hard to think the entire coaching staff was blown up over Tomsula and his role going forward. But that played out as it played out.
So, either way, we would be facing a huge draft with a bunch of holes to fill. The only thing I thought would happen was one of Cully or Cox would stay. Oh, well. CB becomes a need. As does DL, OL, and LB. We get a 4 and a 7 as noted, so we have 9 picks.
This IS a very important draft, and Baalke needs to feel his oats in a big way.
As it lays now, I see BPA in the first 3 rounds. With two 4s, they can take a flier on a QB. Gonna be an interesting draft to say the least. I think we don’t try any more bargain bin injured guys, or trading around. This is going to be a straight load-up draft.
What I see if everything else is equal is:
DL, CB, OL, WR, QB, LB, DB, OL, WR.
Forty Niners Forever 
If the 49ers are going to win more than they lose in 2015,
they will do it with balance. During the Jim Harbaugh era,
this team won basically with defense and not much offense.
Now with retirements and free-agent losses, the team will
likely shift more weight from their fine defense to their
offense, where the 49ers have traditionally had success.
One reason Harbaugh is no longer the coach is because his
offense increasingly got worse. The more the offense
played, the worse it got, just take a gander at their inability
to score in the second half and the fourth quarter, which
indicates a lack of adjusting and an offense that was figured
out by more than one opponent.
Indeed, the 49ers had a shifting offensive line, but their
offense grew decidedly stale as the team forced quarterback
Colin Kaepernick into being a pocket passer. The team seemed
to rely more on shifts and motions rather than taking
advantage of match ups, which seemed to be a hallmark of
Harbaugh’s earlier offensive teams.
So what will the team be without Harbaugh? First, they are
likely to be far more simple, with one voice calling plays
instead of four or five. Dating back to his days at Stanford,
Harbaugh assigned different coaches different responsibilities
which included passing, running, red zone and sometimes
third-down. Harbaugh wanted to stimulate competition
among the coaches. Instead, it often resulted in massive
confusion on gamedays, with too many coaches with too
much input, and with Harbaugh often yelling at referees
instead of directing traffic. The results were predictable – a
frustrating series of timeouts and delay-of-game penalties.
New coach Jim Tomsula and offensive coordinator Geep
Chryst have yet to divulge their play-transmission strategy,
but it’s unlikely to be the convoluted mess that Harbaugh tried
to maintain. For that reason alone, the offense should
function more efficiently.
Also, the reports out of Arizona are good on Kaepernick,
where he spent the last 10 weeks. CSN Bay Area reports that
Kaepernick was coachable and that he did a lot of work on his
short passing game.
If this team is to be successful, they are likely to circle back to
their past, where their success was attributed to offense. What
was old could become new again

I hope the a-holes that frequent places like SFGate will read those words about Kap’s character, intelligence and drive. I get so sick of reading how he’s dumb, a punk and does not work hard. All along all anyone had to do was read about his childhood, his upbringing and what his parents say about him and what they did (and do) for him to realize he’s a stand-up guy. He’s lucky. He has parents who gave a crap about raising him the right way.
He’s had issues on the field but he’s also had moments of brilliance. What he needs now is consistency. I’m not giving up on him and it sounds like this off-season work is going to pay dividends.
John the only young QB I would rather have is Andrew Luck. I think Kap is the real deal and in the right system he should shine.

Well, what gives me pleasure is seeing the people crowing about the talk of run run run when they haven’t even broken camp is pretty funny. As if Jed and Baalke are running the offense through the owner’s box.
Yeah, I don’t blame Kappy for getting taciturn with the press after all the talk about his tattoos and his look. As if all QBs need to be lilly white and free of braggadocio. I think a bit if that came from Harbaugh himself.
Beyond that, the hope is that without all the intense pressure out on the team by St. Jim, they have a some more fun out there and win .

Buck Allen is also a fairly good safety. He was moved to RB at USC when they ran out of RBs two years ago due two suspensions and injuries. He was so good as a RB he didn’t play much DB. USC had the highly touted transfer from Penn St and the safety Buck Allen was much better.
Learned my lesson years ago, regarding my attempts to ‘Mock’ our Drafts.
Stacking the Board like the Pros do makes much more sense.
Identify guys that are similar and have a fit in mind for them.
If you miss the top guy, have a few backup options to target as the Picks flow down the Board.
All these guys have decent hands too.
Gives the ability to keep them on the field for check down opportunities.

The good news is maybe Randy Gregory drops to us! I’ll have to watch some video to see if I like this guy.
He said he wouldn’t ‘mortgage the future’ a la Minn/Dallas, but you never know.
I watched Gregory vs Rutgers. He’s impressive but there is something missing. He has good instincts and disengages well. He looks to play fairly disciplined too. I think I’d like to see him be more physical. He doesn’t shy away from contact but he doesn’t initiate enough for a top 5 pick. He reminds me a little of Miller from the Broncos but bigger and not quite as quick. That is a good thing. I’m not excited about picking him but wouldn’t be upset if we did. Right now I’m staying with Malcom Brown or Trae Waynes for our first pick.
NJ- I just watched Bud Dupree play Florida. I’m surprised he is considered a first round talent. He is not a play maker. He does nor diagnose well and does not disengage. He gets pushed around a lot too. He probably had a great combine. I can’t say I would be happy if we picked this guy.
I went to lunch today and while driving I heard Scott Van Pelt talk about the Randy Gregory situation. Personally, I don’t smoke weed but I have no problem if somebody else does. What bothered me about Gregory is he said he hadn’t smoked pot since December. Pot leaves the system in 30 days. The combine was about 50 days later. I do have a problem with a liar. If he is saying he didn’t smoke since December he is lying. Unless somebody can explain a positive test 50 days later, stay away from this guy. I think I would stay away just from the doubt about his story.
