The Curious Case Of Frank Gore

Every year we hear about the demise of Frank Gore, and every year he refutes the naysayers and takes care of business.

At the age of 31, when most backs are sLowing down or breaking down, Gore managed to eclipse the 10,000 yard mark in his 10 year, and rush for over 1,000 yards for the 8 time in 10 years. This despite playing behind a beat up line and a coaching staff that more often than not, abandoned the run early in games, to the detriment of the offensive flow and consistency.

Despite all that, Gore saved his best 2 games of the year for the finish, gaining over 300 yards in his last 2 games vs SD and AZ.

So what now? Well, if I’m Jim Tomsula, I tell the powers that be that they should sign Gore to a 2 year deal. If only to keep or gain the respect of the other players. Having Gore on his side would do a lot to legitimize this staff.

Story is, after the loss to the Rams, Gore was inconsolable. The guy who talked to him for half an hour after the game wasn’t Harbaugh, VD, Crabs, or even Rathman. It was Jim Tomsula.

I mean, that’s great and all. And we’ve all heard about how much everyone loves Tomsula. I just don’t think that means much when your head coach, OC and DC are 3 guys who could easily be doing the same 3 jobs in NFL Europe. This is the freaking NFL. If these 3 stoogies can pull this off it’ll make a mockery of how staffs as we know it are built…..

Apparently Manning is coming back for 19 million big ones. Lucky Denver.

  3. Nipper says:

Gore if he signs again they’re going to carry him off the field if not here somewhere else. It’s only a matter of time. Football is cruel to old running backs. Oh then an early old age. By 50 he’ll be fortunate to find his way home.

Bring back Gore to backup Hyde and Kendall. And, draft a RB in the 3rd round for depth. Frank’s good for team morale, not for gaining a lot of yards. Nippy’s right, Frank’s taken a ton of hits over his career on the inside with the big boys. I don’t like his odds for a long healthy life, unfortunately. I think he should retire now…

That’s the idea. I’m not saying 20 carries s game. Rotate him on and out. He’ll be fine.

I don’t think the defense will skip s beat.

It all comes down to Chryst almighty for me.

I actually like a lot of the guys they got. Again, yhough it comes down to Kappy getting comfortable, and moving the chains.

Sorry, Bones. Maybe lil; Skeebers will let you hang around his site.

You fall into the St Jim fanboy club, so post away. He hasn’t banned anyone, for a few months anyway.

I hope Gore sticks around for another year he’s a team leader and a hard-nosed football player. If by some chance our offense does get creative I think Gore will have a prominent role and probably score some points. His 1000 yd days are most likely over but what we need is points not necessarily lots of yards. Time of possession is still the key and hopefully Kappy can curtail his rocket arm a bit and maybe do some traditional WCO.

Nope. don.t know where Dennis is. Maybe the ducks got him.
