From a friend (Anna) on another blog:
I am looking for people to participate in an online Farewell to Candlestick party. The purpose is, of course, to hold a going away party for the soon-to-be Great America 49ers. The second purpose is to test out software that I hope will become a significant part of and asset to social media and fan/user interaction. The software is at my.groupol.ogy, but you’ll need a private invitation in order to participate in this multimedia event that will feature videos, Candlestick memories, photos and live chat during the game. If you’d like to participate, please send email to anna@ekage.com). If you cannot attend, please contribute your own Candlestick memories on the “Jon Dowds Revenge” site listed in my blogroll (jondowdsrevenge.wordpress.com). Thanks!
It still hasn’t really sunk in yet. Candlestick Park, Monster Cable Stadium, 3-Com, Shit-hole, The Pigsty, whatever you want to call it, it will forever in my heart be The Stick. Some time soon it will be imploded and forgotten. I can’t even begin to guess at how many baseball and football games I’ve been to at the grand old hole, but I do remember the first game I went to. I was in 2nd grade, and it was 1969.
My mom thought it would be a great idea to take me and all the 2nd grade boys (16 of us) in my class to Bat Day. Bat Day usually fell near my birthday (April 25th), and this game was on the day after. I don’t remember very much about the game, but it was a sunny gorgeous Saturday, we were playing Astros, and all my favorite players were out there. Willie Mays, Bobby Bonds, Willie McCovey, and Juan Marichal. An old guy behind me said “watch that centerfielder for the Astros. Jimmy Wynn. They call him the Toy Cannon.” I don’t know if he did anything that day, but I loved the nickname, and he became a guy whose career I followed as a kid. We were sitting in the upper deck cheapies on the 1st base side. I think we won.
The coolest thing about the game was the bats. Every kid 14 and under got a regulation sized bat. During any rally, all the kids would start pounding the bats on the concrete in rhythm. A sound that I’ll never forget, since there were tons of kids in the stands that day. My mom put up with a lot of kid shennanigans, and I hve no idea how we all got there, but I do remember getting bags of peanuts, those Carnation Malted things with the little wooden spoons, hot dogs, and cokes. We had a lot of fun stacking peanut shells on the hats of the 2 drunk oldsters in front of us who had fallen asleep (passed out?) somewhere around the 6th inning. All in all a greeat day, and my introduction to The Stick. Mom did that for the next couple years, bless her heart, and from then on I went to games every chance I got. Scrounging up money to catch the bus and hit the bleachers for 50 cents, or glomming on to friends who were going.
There’s talk of opening the stadium up some time next year for one last tour, and that is something I will not miss.
If you have any pictures or stories to share about the ol’ shit-hole, let me know . . .

That is really cool Chuck. I can’t remember my first game there. all I know is I fell in love with outdoor stadiums, All the green grass, you could see the lines of the cuts, just everything was soo beautiful about an outdoor stadium. I thought to myself that it would be so cool to play down there. the Stick did go to Aritficial turf for a while. As a kid I could not tell the difference. I can hardly wait to retire and go see other stadiums. I have only been to the Stick and the Padres stadium. My wife was on a business trip last year and she got to go to Yankee stadium. When she called me, I said WTF that should be me!! ha ha
Ha ha! Never been to Yankee stadium, new or old, but I’ve been to a couple Lucky for me they were Fenway and Wrigley. In fact my very first baseball game was with my Uncle Chuck (imagine that!), who lives in Chicago. It was late 1968 and the Giants played the Cubs at Wrigley. The Giants won! It was crazy to see Ernie Banks, Billy Williams, and att the players up close by the little brick wall that separates the field from the stands.
Saw Mays play for the Mets in 1973 at Shea Stadium. Went back to Wrigley in 1995 when my buddy got married in Indiana, and another friend got married in New Hampshire, so we caught a Yankee/Red Sox game at Fenway in 2003. Those Bostonians were tripping on my wife and I wearing our Giants gear.
The pic is from the AZ game my son and I went to a couple months ago. I’m holding out hope that the NFC Championship game will coma back to the Stick.
That would be awesome a last NFC Championship at Candlestick. How could we lose?? Meanwhile lets handle the Falcons on the last MNF game there!
I did my sayanora to the stick on johndowdsrevenge – linked here to the right of this site.
Excellent stuff Chuck!
Yeah, I saw that. Cool shot-off-the-ice-block thing! Great game to go out on, as well.
Fom Chico:
One of my earliest memories at the Stick was against the Padres. I was just a little kid but I remember it was a hot day and my dad bought me one of those carnation chocolate malts and I was in heaven, that’s all I remember from that time other than we won the game. Went to plenty of games but don’t remember that much from my earlier years.
I remember another hot day and a great game in 1993 when Bonds and Will Clark went back to back and I almost got Clark’s ball (we were sitting in RF, the section that looked like pull outs, and if you looked up, you could see the people above you hanging over the rails) Kind of tucked in. I just looked it up, and we won 103 games that year! No playoffs!?!
I also remember going to a ‘throwback game’.. Can’t remember who we played, but cokes were 5 cents and hot dogs were like 50 cents or a dollar. I still have the program of that game somewhere in my plastic bins in the garage.
So many good times at the Stick – used to go with some of my old co-workers after work when I worked on 3rd and Bancroft as a ‘shipping specialist’ @ Cleasby Mfg. I eventually became a welder there so my ambitions were high..(International brotherhood of Boilermakers and some shit) We’d walk to the games, right through the bayview district. IT DID help that most of the guys I would go with were either Samoan and the white dudes belonged to a couple of different motorcycle clubs. That was my early 20s. Some great times. When work got slow at the company, the union would send us down to Hunter’s point to work at the shipyards.. These dudes were NOT the kind of guys you wanted to fuck with – and I saw my fair share of them taking their aggression out on others (deservedly so back then).. The weather at the Stick sucks, but what a lot of people don’t realize is that in the baywiew, if gets friggin hot, especially if you’re working outside in the yard.
I remember when the fence looked like chain link, and when guys would hit home runs to left, the people would jump out of the stands, grab the ball and then jump right back into the stands. That was special to me. I don;t know why, but I loved seeing happy fans make the leap and the hard work just to get to the ball, and then jump right over the fence back into their seats. I’ll miss that the most. I know it’s nothing huge, but that was the most special thing about the Stick to me. It was never the same after they put up the green padded fence. So many Giants games there, I could go on for some time.
Then my brother took me to a Niner/Steeler game back in my early 20s and we were miserable. It freaking POURED all day and night, and we got our asses whooped.
Went to the Niner game last week against the Seacocks, and I had the time of my life.
Loved the old bat days at the ‘Stick. I still have a cracked Tito Fuentes model from circa 1973. It didn’t crack at the game pounding it on the cement during a rally, it cracked later that summer playing “Strikeout” up against the garage door. I stuck out and threw the bat in disgust on the driveway. Some things never change.
I used to have a game-used McCovey bat that was cracked. My next door neighbor was the bat boy for a few games and he got a few bats and gave me one. It was a 42 oz bat if I remember right. It barely had a handle. It resembled a tree trunk. wish I woulda kept that.
I remember watching Willie Mays at the ‘Stick. John Brodie. Willie McCovey, in the 60s, when he was a force of nature, almost unstoppable. Juan Marichal. Charlie Krueger. Jimmy Johnson. Dave Wilcox. Gaylord Perry. Gene Washington. Cedric Hardman and Tommy Hart. Bobby Bonds.
They’re only memories now. But what memories…
And my comment seems to have disappeared into the abyss of the spam filter.
Pulled it out, Grump. Again. this spam filter gets very random at times.
Funny, Bullitt feels bad for Random9erfan. Lots of people come and go here, but Bullitt pines for Random. Curious, no?
LOL, sneaky that guy. Kudos to Chuck, 12th and NF for playin a good game of ‘defense’

If bullit was concerned about the poor fellow, why didn’t bullit post the denial? Too clever by half that bullit guy.

Another sunny day by the Bay! GO NINERS!
I watched a beautiful sunset last night overlooking the bay. It would have been a lot nicer but it was low tide down at the Pinole Shores. No bueno.
7 hard-earned Croix’s De Candlestick
Too funny, NoFear.
Anyhow, you ever been to the Stick, NF? I don’t even knw where you are, except that it’s cold and in the altitude?
Been to the Stick. My first was a Giants vs Phillies in ’61 IIRC.
I’m on the river now. Down from the altitude and not as cold although it did get cold for a bit here.
I know what you mean.We busted out our sweaters when it dipped down into the high 70s last week. Brrr………….
Another game I’ll never forget (even though I got absolutely hammered) was the 1994 NFC Championship game. I told my wife before the game, buy me a pint of vodka to put into a bota bag (the good old days). She bought a 5th instead, and the whole thing fit. Needless to say it was hammer time.
Young’s victory lap was incredible, ED’s 1st quarter pick 6 was about the loudest I’ve ever heard the Stick. We were sitting in the pullouts near the 10 yard line. The perfect spot to see Rice’s TD right before halftime. Ana bsolutely perfect pass from Steve to Jerry. When they let everyone onto the field after it was all done, I dug up a piece of the north end zone near where The Catch was made, and planted it in a planter box at home. Red-painted grass thet I kept alive for almost a year.

For every soft gooey marvelous memory of the Stick there’s gotta be a grinchy one, right?
My one football game there was the year Niners went 18-1. The one loss? (to Pittsburg). Yep was in perfect position to see Eric Wright get called on a ticky-tacky penalty that gave Pitts a chance to kick the winning points. As Del Mar would say “Merry fuckin Christmas to you”.
But Niners DID win the SB that year so no harm really. I promise I wont be within 8,000 miles of that place on Monday night. NO worries
Yeah, I remember listening to that game on the radio coming back from Tahoe. Pisser. They shoulda been 19-0
I was there that day myself. That “PI” call against Eric Wright happened in “my” end zone. Saw the play well. It’s still burns in my soul. We lost to Mark Fucking Malone as 8 pt. favorites.
Merry fucking Christmas to you indeed.
Nice. Yeah we were seated towards that EZ. With my ex’s hubby, real asshole, shoulda known it would put the jinx on. What was I thinkin?
Which is more correct “Merry fuckin Christmas” or the always popular “Fuckin Merry Christmas”? Dennis will know…
My first MLB game was game 2 of the Bucs v. Giants playoff at the ‘Stick in 1971. Wiki says Oct. 3. As a kid from the Valley, listening to the Gyros all those years on the radio, I finally got to see where everything happened. The ‘Stick still had grass then (they put in the turf that offseason, I think); when I walked into the thing, it was incredible. Biggest stadium I’d ever seen, ultra green grass, the outfield was open then, no bowl yet, so you could see forever from the upper deck in LF. The players looked like ants, but I thought I had hit the big time. Tix were something like $5 or $7? Bucs hammered the Gyros, 9-3, Bob Robertson clubbed 3 dingers. Wiki says John Cumberland was the starter for SF, I don’t remember that guy at all…
chuck- Nice topic. I spent so much time there over the years that most of the good times seem to blend in with family memories. I learned to hate the Dodgers at the stick, I had already hated the Rams but the stick just solidified that even more. And, I think I had just as much fun watching stu Miller pitch as I did Big Daddy. I even had a system where I would be able to get out of the parking lot and through bayview before most people made it to 101. But, to pick a couple of good memories I will go with Mogan’s home run against the dodgers and in 81 the rams kicker missed like 4 field goals and we won. however there are too many good memories to even begin to share.
BLEEP NOSTALGIA! BLEEP THE FALCONS!
unca_chuck says: 31-13 Niners. And yeah, I’m thinking something like 31-13.
12th man says: 37-17 Niners. Well now I’ve found my keyboard muscles I’m feeling salty so I will go with 37-17 NINERS!
rtfirefly says: 26-10 Niners from here through the Super Bowl
Philippinefan says: 34-14 Niners. Okay we have reached the point where its time for some scoring prognostications or wild ass guesses about the Falcons/Niners Monday night. Niners are averaging 27 + points in their last 4 games and we have ATL at home. Ill call that good for 7 more given whats on the line for us. So Niners 34-14 way I see it.
What you got?
we should destroy this team. I’ll say 41-6
Yeah!
And those six points are just stocking stuffer gifts.
WOOF!
Ok Flav got it.
Chuck my first time at the ‘Stick is almost identical to yours. I think it was in 1970, the old man and a couple of his buddies took me to a Giants game…it might even have been the Astros and we sat in the nosebleeds on the 1st base side. It was Bat day, with the full size bats, and the pounding was continuous…it drove the the old guys crazy and they swore never again to a bat day! It was hilarious! We stayed the whole game tho. They got hammered…I was lucky enough to make it home that day…’cuz we drove. That was the norm. Natures way of thinning the population!
I think I even got one of those Carnation malted shake/ice cream things with the spoons. I thought it would be a shake but it was solid…I remember thinking “what is this?”
But I was hooked ever since, followed players, loved going to the ‘Stick because it didn’t matter who you were, or how old you were…everybody was the same…a fan in the stands…we were all going through the same shit…and FUN….courtesy of Candlestick park and the San Francisco Giants and 49er’s.
That’s awesome, Ninerdog, Every time I have one of those malts, it takes me right back to that first game.
Yeah, I don’t know how my mom did it with 17 boys.
Your mom had 17 boys?
“There was an old lady who lived in a shoe. She had so many kids… her uterus fell out!
Ohhh!” —Dice Clay
Since this is the last game at the ‘Stick, I’ve received special dispensation from Pope Francis to pick the Niners. Lots of close scores in this vicinity, but I’m already on record: 38-14 in favor of the team that played in a dump.
Whaaa? Del Mar calls fer a Niner win? Miracles do happen!
I loved the malts but hated the taste of the blasted wooden sticks!
Since I haven’t seen or heard the Falcons all season, I had to resort to stats perusal.
Run, run, run! Then, once within shooting distance of the EZ, pass, pass, pass!
Really, I don’t know what to expect from Roman in this one; his favorite play is kaput. No Frank behind Miller behind Iaputi. But it should be a safe, avoid injuries game, but it could clinch the playoff berth and avoid any unlikely-but-possible heartbreak in AZ.
Hmm, you got me…
Phil I’m leaning more toward a 14pt victory.
Let’s go 28-14 9ers.
I’m now hoping we land the 5th Seed, since I see no way AZ derails Seattle on their turf.
I think it’s all about matchups. I’d much rather be the 6 seed if it meant playing DET/DAL indoors rather then CHI/GB or PHI in bad weather as the 5.
Sounds like a winner NJ- 14 point win likely
Chuck, I never got the chance to attend a 9er home game at the ‘Stick.
A bucket list item I failed to fulfill.
My Son has been there 3 times and did propose on the Jumbo-Tron, which is OK by me.
He did shoot a video for me of the tailgaters there while he was in College. Can’t recall the game but, I think it was a Montana or Rice Retirement event? Not sure at this point.
Somewhere in my house is an old VHS tape with a couple of taligaters asking, ‘What the hell are you doing in Jersey NJ?’
Good stuff.
Had to be the Montana Retirement game.
12th, one final word regarding the Kaep debate.
I razzed Berger mostly to get him to admit he wants Roman gone.
It’s a Chicken or the Egg debate of sorts.
Is it the OC or the QB?
I’m a huge Kaep fan, I see nothing wrong with his ceiling.
I’ve posted some opinions on his ability to see the entire field etc in recent weeks.
Make no mistake. I love what he brings to the table.
He’s a Spread QB learning to become a more prolific pocket passer.
He has everything you want. Accurate, nimble and fearless.
Let’s not turn this into Kaep bashing on my part. Please.
He’s going to improve, I’m not overly concerned for his short-comings at this point.
We all love our Team.
I think your training wheels analogy fits exactly what I’m trying to describe.
No harm, no foul, no ill will from me regarding Kaep.
Just constructive criticism in some areas that I’ve noticed and look forward to seeing him master.
More than likely he’s being asked to carry out specific functions in order to sharpen his skills.
I’ll call it growing pains and nothing more.
Wooof!
Yeah, I think Kaeperenick’s potential is about as high as anyone in the game right now. While he certainly deserves a little criticism for things that have gone wrong, he most certainly doesn’t deserve all of it. I mean really. Fuck the blogosphere. You had guys throwing him under the bus for the hat, the tats, interviewing skills, or non-skills. Whatever. He caught more shit for things off the field than on. Some of it was absolute bullshit when you throw in the ‘he doesn’t look the part’ aspect. Plus his biological mom coming out of the woodwork when the playoffs hit last year.
All of that has nothing to do with what he’s had to deal with being the starting QB for the 49ers. A job he got through Alex Smith’s injury, and kept, over a slew of controversy. Big kudos go to Alex for not shunning Kappy, and helping him be a better QB. Part of the struggles Kappy is facing could very well be from not having a presence like Alex Smith helping him along the way.
So, for all the shit and turmoil and adjusting Kappy has had to go through, I think he’s doing an outstanding job. 10-4 at this point in the season is about what I figured. And the team is peaking at the right time.
Right on Chuck. Ive called for a SB win and it will be on the basis of Kaepernicks improved play w/ healthy WRs, vastly improved special teams and a rested, healthier D thats been managed far better this year (DL rotation + more depth).
Regarding Kap listen to an evaluation of his play in Tampa, specifically his ability to throw on the run which he did 3X in TB incl. TD to Crabtree and 1st down to Miller:

Look under “Multimedia” then play first podcast “We’re Not Getting Hot, We’re Getting Better”. Starting at the 38 min. mark for CK. Good analysis (and opinions) backed up by factual examples. Quoting:
“Can Kap do it? Roman inserting new plays = other than smash, sail deep? CK running new plays ‘to perfection’ especially when Things broken. “No” or very few NFL QB should make unless elite QB. A Rodgers closest = side arm throw to MC broken play on a dime, ran right. Only 3 qbs who can do in NFL. 3x in game, throwing on run as good as AR to MC, BM, td to MC. Out of pocket, CK is “fantastic at making those kinds of throws” Good arm.
They talk about D, run game, passing game, etc. Ill post below. No worries on Kaep tho
Exactly Chuck.
We all have opinions, doesn’t mean we’re jumping ship to criticize a particular play or player.
the last series in the SB certainly seemed like an issue for the play calling yet, there was an argument to be made for the lack of a flag for PI on Crabtree.
It’s never a perfect scenario in this game.
Kaep is doing an exceptional job for the most part, especially when the WR situation has been non-existent all year.
I’m with you regarding the stretch run now too.
Being healthy and, gaining momentum in December, is all you can ask for.
Del Mar sez:
“I think it’s all about matchups. I’d much rather be the 6 seed if it meant playing DET/DAL indoors rather then CHI/GB or PHI in bad weather as the 5.”
Agree for sure. We’ll have a better picture after this weekend. Likely we’re going to have our share of bad weather games regardless. And Seattle most certainly- beating them in their place will be huge for us and the most effective way to shut ’em up.
That’s just it Phil.
Seeding will play out as it does.
Chicago would probably be easier than Philly or Carolina.
By today’s records, it’s moot.
Tomorrow it changes again.
Thing is, Carolina or Saints / Philly or Dallas take the Division.
Philly Dallas could come down to the final week.
Certainly agree with Del regarding an indoor venue.
I’d hoped for Dallas and Detroit several weeks ago for that reason alone.
Now? They’re both in desparation mode. Detroit needs help plus 2 wins.
Whatever happens, we must prevail.

– Niner core base O passing plays = ‘smash, deep 3+4 vertical routes Kap likes to throw’
– run plays = power run, trap, wham multiple formations
– drag routes again first since AJ left + slants 15 to VD
w/o BM strength is 11 personnel group = best players =MM, Boldin, VD, Crab + FG
21 is next optimum 25%
To 21 min. mark
– running game ++ more sweeps to outside, counter-runs, to weak side. TB overloading strong side, left side- is better
– Offensive creativity = design/scheme + play calls in sequence; EXAMPLE is:
– Red zone run to Boldin = excellent call and set up = by fly sweep + inside runs, Snyder missed block otherwise TD Boldin gets by safety.
-Zone read, samurai block, block LB scraping over top
– true zone read outside to LMJ unblocked DT 21 yds
to 38 min mark
BTW Im posting this as a “Reply” as Chucks spam filter is hungry….see if this works

Spam filter on rampage Chuck…
Can’t criticize CK7 now? He’s made plenty of bad decisions, on the field, too. I got plenty of shit on here for talking about his potential and things he did well, when it was Alex Smith we weren’t “allowed” to criticize. Now the bandwagoners have jumped and you better have jumped with them. Not before and not after. Ridiculous!
CK7 makes mistakes on and off the field despite front runners insisting on what is right to bring up. Some folks aren’t all that enamored with all the ink on their ‘face of the franchise’. That’s their opinion if they’re still allowed to have one. Others didn’t take too kindly to being rudely dismissed by the Johnny come lately QB on the team they’ve supported for decades sporting another team’s headgear. That one includes yours truly.
I see him make bad decisions on the field and some are bad habits and others are rookie mistakes that maybe he should be over by now. Nobody’s perfect and coaches and QBs are gonna hear it when they screw up, despite the PC police.
My point is he’s been burned by the media re the tats,so now maybe he’s not so forthcoming with the media. You do what you must, NoFear. We’ve all said he’s still learning. Truth is he’s at what, 25 starts?
And who’s saying we can’t criticize?
NF, for me it’s not a question of can the QB be criticized. Of course he can and if he deserves it he should be. It is a question of perspective. The reason I put up an “I object” post is that Kap had been taking heat almost all season and again on the Tampa game.
That kid played pretty much lights out and maybe missed on 3 possible plays but made some incredible plays. It’s hard for me to read a number of “Debbie downer” posts about his supposed shortcomings on the back of that performance.
That is my opinion and I voiced it.
I don’t give a damn about the tats or headphones. I do care about the hat and the surly interviews. He is the face of the franchise, he represents the SF49ERS at the hallowed QB position. In my opinion he is doing that well on the field and poorly off it and yes off it is important too. Be a professional.
I place a much larger percentage of the blame for the O not playing up to it’s potential on the scheme. Specifically asking the QB to play largely from the pocket, during a time when the WR position was very thin, and not creating plays that could bail the kid out when the intended guy was not open, which happened time after time. No hot reads, no slants, not asking the WR to turn their heads in the route they were running that were just decoy routes in case Kap was running for his life, giving at least a chance for him to make a play.
NJ, I have seen a lot of your posts in praise of Kap. I Know you are not a hater. But for me, the stuff you and Bull**it were posting was a crock based on the Tampa game. Akin to looking through a telescope from the wrong end. A lack of perspective.
Also, there were a lot of posters making statements about how our team has no chance, Squawks are unbeatable at home, etc, etc. Horseshit. This team is a top 4 team from any perspective and is capable of beating anybody, anywhere just like last year. In fact I think this team is playing better football now than they were last year so buck up 9er fans!
12th I didn’t specifically target anything on the Kaep performance in TB.
Not my style to roll out constant criticism on a per play basis.
My opinions have been of the general variety.
Rushing reads and locking onto primary targets as the main focus.
Again, I wouldn’t consider myself a Debbie Downer.
I see a high ceiling for Kaep. No doubt he’ll make us proud.
I reserve the right to have criticisms from time to time.
I intend no malice.
All is well NJ
Ok guys pick your poison: Seattle loss keeping the possibility of a division win, a bye and home field throughout open but the possibility of the Cards overtaking the Niners for second in the division or a Cards loss closing the door to a Niner division win but putting the Niners in the playoffs and eliminating the possibility for the Cards to take second in the division?
Decisions, decisions.
“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times” sums up my visits to “The Stick”. Many games over the years, some stunk, some were magnificent.
Tragic, heat breaking losses in the playoffs (GB, Dallass)
Superlative, sublime wins in the playoffs (Dallass, Giants, GB)
My 2 fondest memories:
The Niners come back win over the Giants with Garcia at QB. Mind blowing.
The opening game in 1994 against the Raiders. T-shirts sold outside read “SB preview” as both teams were picked to go that year, I still have the shirt 🙂 By halftime the Niners had crushed the Raiders and their fans were leaving tails between their legs after chanting “Raiders in the house” before the game. Niners went on to fulfill their pre-season promise and Steve finally got the monkey off his back. Lombardi #5 was glorious.
Best individual moment I was there for: The catch II, stunning.
I have loathed and loved the stick over the years but will surely miss the dump when it’s gone.
Hello tap, tap, tap, is this thing on?
Nobody interested in the NO-Panthers game? Dallass-Skins?
Too busy doing Christmas shopping?
Word is, from Rex Ryan, that Rex Ryan will be fired on black Monday or shortly thereafter. Is that the horses mouth or ass?
The D is missing in Dallass. Does that make them Allass?
It was the best of calls, it was the worst of calls. Rodgers-Cromartie called for late hit for nailing A. Johnson a split second after the ball flew over him. 15 yards for a clean hit.
Let’s just go to flag football now for the playoffs. Then go to the ref film and freakin’ clean house and replace them with Full-Time refs!
yup. Whitner last week, shoulder hit, flag, 15 yds horseshit calls.
My question is obvious. What if RC didn’t try to tackle AJ and AJ caught the ball?
Agree RT. Too much responsibility is being placed on the D players in split second timing. If it is even close the refs throw a flag.
Vaccoro carted off with an air cast on his leg. Bad time to lose a quality player. Speaking of which Von Miller done for the day at least, knee injury.
oops, Vaccaro, Chucks fav safety after Reid, at least he is now.
Wow. Yates of Houston throws the ball straight into the ground (obviously slipped). Great example of Texans football this year.
You see that call on the Chiefs? Receiver catches it and goes 2/3 steps depending on interpretation, gets tackled and loses the ball recovered by Colts. TO right? After review the call is incomplete catch. Using my new fav word HORSESHIT!
Missed that one. It’s because of how great Alex is.
Horseshit call of the week, so far.
12th, I just don’t see AZ remotely coming close to beating Seattle, so we clinch. I’d love to get the 1 seed, just don’t think it happens. If it DOES, Seattle is I trouble.
If I could choose I would take an AZ win and believe in the Niners winning out. It would be an amazing win for AZ but like you I doubt it. Division game though so we will see.
RGIII, and his dad, hatin’ life and Shanahan today. Worse if they beat the ‘boys/
Cousins playing well. Unlucky he got a tipped ball TO.
PI and actual football move after catching the ball are the most stupid things in the game now. Bowe (?.) took 3 steps turned up field and that’s not a football move? Plays in athe end zone are overturned all the time.
I think they are going to have no choice but to review penalties as they are directly affecting so many games these days.
Skins make a game of it. 14-13 (D)Allass at the half.
Romo strike again, dumb throw. Skins ball.
Indy playing the Ciefs tough despite the ref. 13-7 in the 3rd, colts possession.
Interesting bit of (D)allass sideline camerwork. Dez being a prima donna as usual but Demarco Murray chastising/lobbying the HC to give him the ball more and the coach nodding.
Don’t see Garrett making another season.
Garrett could probably stop the run better than the guys he has on the field.
True. I heard the announcer say (D)allass has played 18 guys on the D line this season. Crazy.
Sure worked LOL. Two incompletes and a sac. Murray’s 6.9 YPC watching.
Skins up over (D)allass. D is still missing in Dallass, can’t stop the Skins RG. (D)allass is in trouble win or lose.
Yeah Dallas sucks big time.
NO takes the lead! #5 here we come!
Flipping back and forth between the RedZone channel and DAL/WAS and NO/CAR the announcers all think they’re better coaches, offense and defense, then the pros doing it. Funny and irritating at the same time.
DAL/WAS announcers preaching run as Romo extends play and completes for 50 plus.
The corner slipped and was on the ground. I’d throw it too.
I think they were past the point of running it then.
Another great run, uh stuff! Good play.
Nobody hoping the ‘Boys make it here more than RGIII.
Damn Romo! What a bum!
Romo is Favre with less skills. Boom or bust.
Damn! Beeeautiful throw and catch by Peyton to Decker to tie the season TD record.
Great desperate play by Romo! Sets up the choke to the Eagles next week at the Playpen.
How bout dem Cowboys!
No fat lady yet
The late great Kate Smith not only warmed up, she hummed a few bars.
Scheist! Hello #6.
Oops, wrongo. Just now the wrong team will be traveling to Seattle.
timing is everything.
Panther take NO.
Oh, did we sign Sports Illustrated’s Sportsman of the Year yet?
51 TDs. New NFL record. Nah. We don’t need that guy.
Here we go in the Parrots cage!
A.Smith tearing it up again. The crying kind today.
And to think. Most here wanted Alex > Manning. The very idea.
lol.
Seachickers timeout 14:11 1st qtr. Hey! We are not alone!
good start for zona….not.
The arrogance of Kam C. taking that INT out of the end zone. Seattle DBs think they can do whatever they please. I’d argue if I could.
Palmer INT on the endzone. Oy vey!
damn
1 series 1 hit on Wilson. Keep it up Zona
interestingly enough, on the second series the refs allowed the OLB to push Wilson backwards for 5 yds after he handed it off to Beast. Using that QB/Runner rule?
Just did it again too.
If I did the math right, we win our next two and we’ll be locked in as the 5 seed.
Unless of course Seattle loses its last two. I still believe in Santa, but even he can’t bring that present.
I have it the same.
That was a bad pass from Palmer, but Sherman had his hands all over Fitz before the interception.
Zona holds to a 3. Squawks up 3-0 in the second. Arizona has moved the ball well. A mixture of bad luck and poor judgement has kept them off the score board.
What was the poor judgment?
Palmers throw to Fitz, Sherman had position.
Okay, thought I missed something. Besides no holding/PI, I don’t know what Palmer saw there.
Taking the time and effort to charter the plane to Seattle thinking you got a shot of winning.
Funny Dennis, I give them a shot and would love to see them go down at home in a div game.
them being Seahawks, that is.
second them, damn it, forget it, give me a beear (beer).
Arizona D is playing well.
Hope they can for sixty minutes. Blocking the runs might be easier than taking on those penalty-immune DBs, too.
One of life’s great mysteries how Squawks DB’s get away with so much contact.
Always liked Madeline Kahn and Ray’s dad.
Good AZ drive here.
converted 3rd and 16 too.
wow TO.
Nah.
Another Squawk 3 and out.
Need to get some points on the board here.
Think that’s one where Wilson shoulda taken the fer sure 1st dn and continued to run.
But you can’t blame ’em for the throw.
He had it easy, got greedy.
Another Seattle INT at home. Shocker.
Man that luck just keeps going the Squawks way. TO.
They do get more than their share of the bounces.
Didn’t get the bounce that time. Doink!
Play action or boot leg?
Good defensive stand.
Wow! A bounce for AZ.
Looked like they were gong into half time tied or losing, ball bounces off a helmet and it’s a TO and leads to a probable Squawk score. Unreal. Great Arizona D again.
HA, gotta love it, missed a lay up. Tie game.
Arizona very much in this game today.
I was telling Berger just earlier this morning that those play fakes and roll right don’t fool anyone any more. Defenses see that play coming a mile away. Especially in those close goal line situations. Bad play call on 3rd dn doomed Petey.
It doesn’t have to fool anyone to work. Especially with Lynch. You have to stack the LOS against him on the goal line AND defend the options. Not easy for 31 other defenses.
It was 3rd dn and SEA was out of time outs. Slim to none chance they would run and risk the chance of having to run out the FG team in a rush. I saw it coming sitting at home in my Santa hat. I think ARZ saw it coming as well. Maybe they should ditch their helmets in favor of Santa hats for the 2nd half. Brings me luck.
Maybe Dennis but that isn’t what you wrote. You said those plays don’t fool anyone anymore. It’s too easy to say bad play call after one that doesn’t work. I’m just saying I give the AZ defense more credit than that on the stop.
My fantasy team needs to start wearing Santa hats. Dump City today.
Finally a Seattle DB mugging a receiver gets a PI call.
I feel more confident in AZ’s chances when their D is on the field.
They are getting to Wilson enough to put him off his timing and containing the scrambles. Palmer is the big question, can he limit the TO?
There’s the break they need.
could be huge.
Certainly will be if they can put up seven here.
twice, unbelievable.
How the fuck does Palmer throw that ball?
He’s Carson Palmer. Unbelievable.
Great D again from Arizona. These guys won’t be a cakewalk for the Niners either.
PIT blocks the FG then gets hosed on some BS possession/batting the ball call.
GB scores TD next play. If I’m Mike Tomlin I stand in the middle of the field on the 50 yd line during the next kick.
And trip somebody on the KO, right?
Stupid penalty helps AZ offense. Someone has to.
nice. PI on Sherman.
Arizona keeps it I think
The PIT guy didn’t have the ball for a fraction of the time the KC did earlier in the day. The zebras are making the game a big joke.
