I’m always confused that the word ecstacy does not have an X in it. Anyhow, this season sure isn’t what I imagined it to be. Yeah, I thought we’d beat up on the underlings like Tennessee and Arizona, but I didn’t think we’d get waylaid by the likes of Indy, Carolina, and especially New Orleans. Game 1 was a shining example of what turned out to be false expectations as we quickly fell to 1-2 and hit scramble mode. 5 wins later, and we’re feeling fine.
Boom, another little rough patch as the Niners lost 2 close games to 2 good teams. At least we tightened up the losses. Fast forward to now, and we’re rolling on a 4 game winning streak. Which of course includes the stirring victory over the Seahawks. So here we sit, with the 5th seed in our grasp. Yes, we could possibly get the 1 seed should the earth open up and swallow Seattle, but that probably won’t happen. Ans yes, we could lose out and miss the playoffs entirely I suppose, but that’s another far-fetched deal.
So, if things go according to the path of most likely, we win out and get the 5 seed. Which means we get the winner of the NFC Norris Division. Which most likely means Da Bearsss. GB could sneak in and ride the wild hope that Aaron Rodgers makes it back, but ewither way, we are playing in the elements. Not too big a worry to me as we have a strong run game, but if it’s a blizzard like we saw a couple weeks ago, all bets are off. Still, running and defense travel well in shitty weather.
Green Bay has Pitts, and a huge showdown with Chicago, which likely determines the playoff team. Lose and you are out. Deetroit, in the inimitable words of Steeve Young last night, “threw up on themselves” in a fairly ghastly loss to the Ravens, who did nothing more than get into field goal range 6 times yesterday. So, it would have been nice to play in the warm confines of the Bankrupt Dome, or wherever Deetroit plays, but Deetroit can’t get out of their own way, amid the penalties and stupid play calling. So it looks like the Niners are packing their longies for the trip to the frozen midwest.
BTW, The Flap is sitting at over 16,000,000, 10 times lower than here.. So Chuck’s rating is not bad.
Chucks blog is gaining in quantity of posts and posters. It used to be a game day only blog in reality but look back over recent history and that is no longer the case. I don’t know if his readership is rising too or not.
Tough to police on a minute to minute basis but the one issue Chuck has is the potty mouth poster who keeps showing up on game days. It’s almost like that poster wants to ruin the game day blog on purpose by using the vilest profanity possible. Weird huh?
I can tell you that wouldn’t be Bullit. Potty mouth is not Bullit.
Bullit under his “Bullit” persona rarely is profane but he is on occasions. Now that’s a different kettle of fish under his various pseudonyms where is is free from his stricture and has been quite profane. Oh and lest there be doubt that it was Bullit hiding behind other screen names and attacking here I would remind you that not only was there a consensus here that it was him but that Skeebs also said it was Bullit and it was in fact Bullit.
Now I am not saying the extreme posts on game day are Bullit, you leapt to that conclusion, my money would be on Spit et al, but I wouldn’t rule out Bullit either since his history shows him capable.
As to NF with his Random thought, that had crossed my mind too but need more posts to sniff it out.
JT/GT reminded me of Spitblood. Randomfan guy reeks of Bullitness.
I must’ve used some “filter sensitive” words when I tried to say I think the tourrettes guy reminds me of spitfire and the random fan guy reeks of bullitness.
Random = Bullitt? Dont see that.
“Tourettes guy” now thats a classic (and true)
Shhhhh, NF.
LOL, no, I am not Bullitt.
I usually read the 49ersoutsider, as I do most 49er blogs though I have never posted on there.
Actually, I have been a reader of Chuck’s blog, since the beginning, which IIRC was back in 2008, used to be blogspot then. Heck even remember the crazy times on Lynch’s SF gate blog. Posted a few times along the way on Chuck’s blog, but no posts worth remembering.
Well you guys have short memories. Bullit had nothing on Reno during the Alex wars, Skeebers either. All opinions welcome as long as they’re the same as mine. Otherwise you’re in for endless name-calling and ridicule. Sounds a lot like what’s being attributed solely to Bullit now. Well, he started out as making a career of sniping and then learned from the oldtimers and was applauded for it.
Couldn’t have an original thought even then!
I missed that but Reno now and for past couple years Ive liked. Wish he was here more.
Thanks Phil.
Always loyal to the guy who gave me the “Phil” moniker…And who like the blues!
Actually I like Reno too, especially now that he has had that fence post surgically removed from his ass.
Was that due to excessive fence sitting?
Yes it was Phil 🙂
It all seem to be fine for you NoFear until we were proven right about Smith which made you pack your bags and leave. You had to run from your precious reputation.
I believe Preparation C (chuck) quickly eliminated my nasty case of skeebs and changed my life for the better. As 12th sez it’s the quality of the posts/posters here that I appreciate and that encourages contributing. Also the quality (respectfully agreeing to disagree) of our online relations has much improved and that’s attractive too. If I wanted a bitchfest Id go talk to my ex. People who read but dont post mean nothing to me.
But Renos point “If you are scared away by Bullit you probably are trying to be an expert with facts that aren’t accurate” does not apply to me at all. I hate people who are always trying to be ‘right’ and loudly making others wrong. It wrecks the atmosphere and is simply Boring. There are better options out there that refrain from making ‘gotcha, asshole’ the dominant culture of the site. My 2 centavos…
Always right because his “opinion” is always parroted from a sportswriter. Thus, he can always use the Authority debating fallacy.
Read a formal argumentation and debate textbook and his avatar will headline the Fallacy section. From Authority to ad hominem, he’s full of it.
What’s the famous quote, “when legend meets fact, print the legend.” Something like that. I think that came from the movie, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence.
Dennis will know…good quote
Agree Phil.
No ones above the tornadoes of bullshit, and I certainly don’t do this for any money. Fricking wordpress must drop ads on here because traffic is up? I don’t know.
Whaaaa? Youre not makin fat bank off these Shakespearean verses?
Wordpiss, figures…
‘Tornados of bullshit’ isn’t Shakespearean, it’s NoFearian!
NoFear came up with that when he was going Bullit on me one day. I loved it so much I started to use it. NoFear got mad at me for using his phrase. I told him to quit coming up with great lines and I’ll stop using them. LOL!
Yeah, that’s part of it, Phil. When he drags out posts from 3 years ago and throws them back at certain people, it’s like he’s screaming for attention. I don’t like getting dragged into shit, but it goes with the territory. I used to have fights with twinfan all the time over his assholery and general condescending attitude about any opinion but his own. We eventually got over it.
I don’t see Bullitt ever sliding off his high horse.
You do shoot from the hip with your facts and then get defensive when somebody calls you out about it. He gets a bit overbearing and you get too sensitive. It’s all OK until the name calling starts.
And I certainly don’t mind rolling in the filth when warranted.
Like his bullshit about me posting about him here. He seems to think I won’t say shit to him there? Right.
Anyhow, back to football. Does anyone remember boobies being a lead blocker in the preseason?
I don’t. Is that even an option? Or is V McD the new component?
I share the skepticism about AD being an effective lead blocker with all his dancing around. Maybe thats why they signed Tukuafu again- for insurance in case AD bombs?
My problem with this site is I have to log on every time I post. For some reason my computer does not want to remember this site. It gets tedious having to log on every time.
It still keeps switching me from RT to RT2. That is, when it doesn’t swallow my posts whole. Still, it’s a lot better than it used to be.
Same but I sacrifice for the good of the team
That used to happen to me. The logging in thing. It randomly quit doing that. Wish I could figure out why it does the weird things it does.
I think that’s a local ( re you) setting. I’ll try to look into it tomorrow if 8get the chance.
It might be a firewall setting. Not sure.
Try this. When you type a post click the little blue w under the posting window. It might keep your settings there.
Or is there a ‘log on with’ button? That worked on my work computer. Instead of posting the comment, click ‘log on with wordpress.’
I’ve never experienced the problem?
Okay we have reached the point where its time for some scoring prognostications or wild ass guesses about the Falcons/Niners Monday night. Niners are averaging 27 + points in their last 4 games and we have ATL at home. Ill call that good for 7 more given whats on the line for us. So Niners 34-14 way I see it.
What you got?
Well now I’ve found my keyboard muscles I’m feeling salty so I will go with 37-17 NINERS!
26-10 from here through the Super Bowl
Ok RT
Gore has always run best behind a FB. He did run ok in the pistol but not as well. I don’t see Boobie as an effective FB, he doesn’t play heavy enough on contact. Haven’t seen enough from any of the TE to know if they can handle it. Maybe they go away from the traditional lead blocker style altogether?
Berger, you’ve always painted things the way you wish they were. Skeebers’ demanding a halt to ‘jerking off to war stories’ over a polite exchange rolled up the ol’ welcome mat for me. Bullit doesn’t enter into it other than like mosquitoes at a good fishing hole. Pesky and you have to keep swatting the little mfers.
btw, Check Down Charlie there isn’t much different than Check Down Charlie was here. Yards per attempt down I think and still the check down after check down. And only a punk would throw the team and coach that gave him a new life in the NFL under the bus with that crap about him being restricted. Harbaugh had him at 70% completions and 13-3 with all those restrictions. And besides, I thought his story was it’s all about the team. Bullshit! Check Down Charlie. Bullshit!
Your love affair with Smith keeps on going!
Yeah, b been taking about that with Bergs. Run a one back 3 wide (or 2 WR, 2 TE) set to get the tackle box unpacked. You can motion the TE to pick off an interior lineman as Milller might have.
It might actually make them show different, and not quite so obvious, looks.
I never saw an article where Smith talks about his being ‘restricted’ by Harbaugh and Co. But I have heard others say that the Roman offense IS very restrictive and doesn’t allow for much deviation. Take it for what you will. The team is 10-4 and is getting good at the right time.
Unfortunately, we won’t really know how good until the actual playoffs start. These next 2 (or 3 really) shouldn’t be all that tough.
Take Jamaal Charles out and you got Smith = not much.
That applies to the Niners and Gore, Marshawn Lynch and Seattle, Matt Forte and the Bears, and a few others. Look at Luck without Wayne.
May be but so what? Doesn’t change anything as it applies to Alex. The Chief’s offense is Charles not Smith. Smith is still the same game manager he evolved into here. He takes some shots there he may not have taken here but not enough to matter or change his QB style. Which is fine. He’s solid and dependable now but he’s not Marino finally unleashed.
Somebody write down the date NoFear called Smith “Solid and Dependable”, a date that will live in blog infamy!
KC was on TV about a month ago. The guy doing color said he asked Smith what the biggest difference between SF and KC. He said Smith told him he didn’t have all the restrictions on him that he had in SF.
Dilfer was on Radio this morning talking about the 49ewrs and saying something like, if the play isn’t designed to get you the ball you aren’t getting the ball.
Seems consistent.
I used to hate listening to Steve Young prattle on and on trying to sound like the know-it-all he insists he is, now it’s sweet relief from having to hear Dilfer and Ray Ray. Hell, Dilfer makes everybody around him look good by comparison.
