I’m always confused that the word ecstacy does not have an X in it. Anyhow, this season sure isn’t what I imagined it to be. Yeah, I thought we’d beat up on the underlings like Tennessee and Arizona, but I didn’t think we’d get waylaid by the likes of Indy, Carolina, and especially New Orleans. Game 1 was a shining example of what turned out to be false expectations as we quickly fell to 1-2 and hit scramble mode. 5 wins later, and we’re feeling fine.
Boom, another little rough patch as the Niners lost 2 close games to 2 good teams. At least we tightened up the losses. Fast forward to now, and we’re rolling on a 4 game winning streak. Which of course includes the stirring victory over the Seahawks. So here we sit, with the 5th seed in our grasp. Yes, we could possibly get the 1 seed should the earth open up and swallow Seattle, but that probably won’t happen. Ans yes, we could lose out and miss the playoffs entirely I suppose, but that’s another far-fetched deal.
So, if things go according to the path of most likely, we win out and get the 5 seed. Which means we get the winner of the NFC Norris Division. Which most likely means Da Bearsss. GB could sneak in and ride the wild hope that Aaron Rodgers makes it back, but ewither way, we are playing in the elements. Not too big a worry to me as we have a strong run game, but if it’s a blizzard like we saw a couple weeks ago, all bets are off. Still, running and defense travel well in shitty weather.
Green Bay has Pitts, and a huge showdown with Chicago, which likely determines the playoff team. Lose and you are out. Deetroit, in the inimitable words of Steeve Young last night, “threw up on themselves” in a fairly ghastly loss to the Ravens, who did nothing more than get into field goal range 6 times yesterday. So, it would have been nice to play in the warm confines of the Bankrupt Dome, or wherever Deetroit plays, but Deetroit can’t get out of their own way, amid the penalties and stupid play calling. So it looks like the Niners are packing their longies for the trip to the frozen midwest.

Yeah it’s funny, as much as I complain about CK or GR or our offense not being ALL-POWERFUL, we’re only a horrible call in New Orleans and another field goal to garner 12 points at home against Carolina away from being 12-2.
Getting Crabtree back is looking very, very big. I honestly didn’t think he’d have the impact he has. I also though MM would have a greater impact. Losing Miller for the rest of the season is a blow though. I remember an announcer earlier in the year point out that if you want to defend the Niners, then go wherever Miller is going, because the ball usually goes that way. At least they can’t follow him now. Meanwhile Kaep threw deep 2x last Sunday, connecting on one for the VD TD. Might have been two connections if Vernon ever dove for a ball. Regardless, that has to help to loosen the 8 man fronts going forward. With Miller out, they very well may have to mix things up, throw more. He was a helluva blocker this year and this will impact our running game.
I think losing Miller is big. He’s got a lot going on in this offense. I doubt any one guy can replace all of that, so maybe just get a guy that can block, and re-focus the offense otherwise…

I don’t think it was Romo who gave up thirty-some points in a half nor was he the receiver who ran the wrong route.
It never ends. Anything wrong in Dallas is a Romo choke and anything right in KC is because Alex Smith was always a star QB being held down by a crazy coach.
Some of them boys should watch a game with their eyes open, once in a while anyway.
NoFear- I think Romo made a good call. There were 10 in the box. The team’s execution was poor but that is a different story. I agree with you asking why nobody is questioning giving up 37 points. About the execution, the TE did not block the pass rusher who almost sacked Romo and changing the timing of the play. The highest percentage on that play would have been a one step drop and Romo took a 3 step drop, but still, if the pass isn’t about 2 or 3 feet behind where it should have been thrown, that play is a big gain and possibly a TD. I wish our QB was allowed to make those calls. I don’t know for sure our QB isn’t allowed but from piecing comments together from different sources it seems he is heavily restricted.

Speaking for myself NF I have never thought of Alex Smith as a star QB, then or now. He is still a dink and dunk efficient QB with a strong RG and D. The difference is he is now taking several shots a game that allow the dink and dunk to be more successful and he says himself that the restrictions he played with under Harbs are no longer there. What do you attribute those comments to?

The issue Phil is the debate between coaching scheme or poor QB play. As far as I can tell Kap is playing QB at a high level and IMO the scheme is his main limiting factor.
Others think Kap is missing significant plays due to his deficiencies whatever they may be.
Following an early road game win guys are focusing on whatever negative plays or plays they think Kap should have made differently instead of recognizing the great plays and the road win.
The kid is not perfect and IMO his natural flair is being held in check for good or bad. I don’t think blaming him week after week is fair or reasonable.
Agree. As the O has opened up with return of Crab and MM I see coaching, play calling and scheme as taking 60% responsibility for our offensive woes. Kap maybe 40% but its no concern as Im seeing both improving. Kap is playing in a very conservative scheme = run, run, run and thats ok. JH will never be BW but no one else will either
Well, NoFear, for all their defensive troubles, histrionics, and hullabaloo, Romo has had his share of blame in these galling losses. Frankly I don’t care how Dallas loses, just that they lose. The more horrific the bettter. Last weekend was quite devastating.
Romo didn’t choke with his play call, he choked by throwing a pass behind the intended target. His last Int could have been a bad pattern but it was zone and receivers do sit in zone. Romo threw an out like it was man coverage. I sure can’t say who was wrong. Probably the WR since Romo has been around a while but Romo does have a history of doing this stuff.
Yeah, throwing 2 picks in the 4th quarter won’ win you many games regardless of who’s at fault. Still and all, Garrett should not have gone all Mad Mike Martz in ther 2nd half. 7 runs and 24 passes with a 23 point lead? Ludicrous.
The play calling might have been poor, I wasn’t paying attention to the game so I don’t know, but I had no problem with that particular call when he threw the first of the two ints., except in hindsight, but everybody is a genius in hindsight.
Well, the way to combat losing your lead blocker is to get a defender into coverage rather than up close. 3-4 WR sets do this. 2 WR, 2 TE sets can do this as well. I think we’ll see a lot, more 2 TE, single back packages.

I’ve posted I thought the first INT was a bad throw and the second was on the receiver who stop and goed when he should have stopped and turned. Every time that happens it looks like a QB throwing a ball to the defense “inexplicably.” And if your thing is bashing Romo it’s just another Romo choke game. Romo gets credit from me for not taking the safe road and attempting only safe throws or check downs. Good for him give me more of that. Not so much on the bad decisions though.

I’m sorry to tell you boys but Skeebers is at about 376,000 for internet popularity the last 30 days. This site sits at 1,626,908. I think Skeebers policing of his site to keep on topic and less potty mouth is working well for him. If he wanted to advertise he could probably make some money. You get more posters here, he gets far more readers. Personally, I prefer to not bash either. The rating for this site is not bad, Skeebers is unusually high for a narrow subject and unadvertised site.
I like Skeebs. His blog used to be great before it got hijacked.

I don’t have a problem with Bullit and I just spent two tumultuous days debating him. The one that goes after me is NoFear and I don’t have a problem with him. I just go back at him with some humor and logic. We are all entitled to our opinion. The thing about Bullit and NoFear is, if they think you are trying to prove your point with BS info they will call you out on it, if they don’t agree with your point. Heck, I do that too. I have to take some time to figure out what NoFear is saying half the time but he is entertaining. Bullit is just blunt and asks for proof. I think Bullit’s fact checking actually draws readers. If you are going to take the time to check in and read something it is better to not be wasting time on false info. Anyway, I’d rather have more readers and less posters than the other way around if it were my blog for only the reason if I wanted to advertise I could make more money. If you are scared away by Bullit you probably are trying to be an expert with facts that aren’t accurate. We could use more anti Smith posters for the fun of it but since Alex started doing well with Harbaugh you guys all packed up and left. At least Dennis still has some balls left. Well actually Bullit is not a Bulldog. He is the annoying Chihuahua that won’t stop yapping and keeps humping your leg. You just get pissed off from kicking him away and he ain’t bright enough to get it.
