I’m sure you guys don’t remember that old Woody Allen movie that had Gene Wilder drinking Woolite at the end of it. Not sure how these guys tied us at out house and then proceed to lose in their house to the lowly Jets, but that’s football. Some teams match up well with others, some just get your number that day.
And, seeing as that last Ram game very well may be the last start of Alex Smith’s 49er career, at least he went out on a good note. His last throw was a TD to Michael Crabtree, and his last game and 1/3 he was 25-27 for 304 yards and 4 TDs. Anyhow, I’m not here to bury Alex, but to praise him. Or is it the other way around?
This does however, for all intents and purposes, appear to be the start of the Colin Kaepernick era no matter what Jim Harbaugh says. My thought is the Niners come out and try their new QB out and go a little more pass happy. Some of this is due to Kendall Hunter being out, but some of this is due to just getting the kid some more work. They need to get Cappy up to speed for the playoffs and we have 5 games to get this right.
I hope this isn’t going to be as crappy as the last Ram game, but I seriously don’t think the Niners let this one get away.

You could see by the end of the first quarter we were having trouble running up the middle. We stayed with the conservative play calling and inside running and sat on a paltry lead, then called a dangerous pitch play deep in our own end. Then even after it was tied we refused to adjust for the poor game by the O-line. Just not an intelligently called game by GR and Harbaugh. A very strong defensive effort for most of the game gets flushed down the toilet.
Outside of the Kap big run and maybe 2 decent passes, the Rams D shut our O down all game. The Rams Fucking D………
Akers needs to carry a big share of the responsibility of this loss. If it’s because he’s hurt then the Niners should have sat him for this game.
But I don’t think it’s cause he’s hurt, he’s been missing field goals all season long……..
by the way, huge kudos to the Rams kicker—a 50+ to send it to overtime and then a 50+ to win it in OT? Has that ever happened before? He kicked 107 yards of FG on those 2 kicks and both were good by a country mile………

The loss is hardly on Colin but he really did little to win it either. In divvying up blame, I’d go 60% Jimbo, 20% Kap, 10% OL, 9% Akers, 1% Alex.
I put 95% on Alex. His dumb look on the sidelines spread bad juju to every coach and player.
Alex. no question. i’d also up the o-line contribution. no holes, no protection. bad combination.
30% Roman, 20% Harbaugh, 20% O-line, 10% Delanie Walker, 10% Kap, 10% everyone else (Akers, etc.).
Akers missed the kick but I think everyone in California expected that. We all knew it was stupid to put him in that position.
D only gave up a 2 point conversion period I think. Niners continue their iron clad pattern of 2 good games and one piece of shit. Accordingly we should win against MIA and NE then lose to Sea.

If I had to blame a single thing it would be that play backed up in our endzone. Stupid play call, bad snap, bad decision by Kaep and bad play by Ginn(?). Then we couldn’t stop a two pointer either.
Murphy was in attendance on that play. Everything that COULD go wrong, DID go wrong.
Gore had one run for 23 yards… and 22 more carries for just 25 yards. You can’t win wasting downs like that.
We’re staring 10-5-1 in the face with SEA and NE on the road. The Packers don’t look to lose another game or maybe one at the most to finish 11-5 or better. That playoff bye week is going bye bye…

I’d take Kap in a nano-second right now over another 40 (minimum) to 70 million due to Manning after this season is over. And your dumb ass should get that but you won’t……….
