Per Trent Baalke’s press conference, he’s leery of using (but isn’t averse) to using the franchise tag. He’s not looking to be reactionary in the free agency period, and is looking at possibly acquiring some wideouts soon. Either through free agency or the draft.
In other words, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
I got nothing either. I could fill this with the usual banter about Wallace, V-J-J, Colston, and the large crop of WRs available, but we’ve all been there, done it, and got the shirt to prove it. Ahmad Brooks is going to want a big payday, as is Goldson. Alex Smith will get his, and then there’s the Carlos Rogers question. This will be a busy free agency period to say the least. But until it gets started, we MAY get the odd contract agreement or 2 before March 13.
I wonder if the front office lets all their guys test the waters before trying to sign them. I doubt it, but the possibibility exists that someone may jump on Alex Smith (Seattle, Wash, and Indy spring to mind) and offer him a ton of money. Money that the Niners aren’t willing to part with. I guess I should have led with “Forty Niners To Let Smith Go . . .”
If somebody is crazy enough to offer Alex some outlandish deal, let ’em. I wouldn’t bet on that happening…
” but the possibibility exists that someone may jump on Alex Smith (Seattle, Wash, and Indy spring to mind) and offer him a ton of money. ”
And that same possibility exists that Liz Hurley, Kate Beckinsale, Adriana Lima and the entire cast of Victoria’s Secret models will jump on me and offer me a ton of money to suck my dick.
Not gonna happen.
I neglected to use the [sic] designation behind Chuck’s “possibibility.”
Perhaps you have trouble and stutter with speech much like Ken.
I don’t think I ever told you guys about the time I met Kevin Kline. I’ll save it for another time. But I will concur and attest to the fact that he is one funny motherfucker as evidenced in this clip.
addendum: I can’t speak for the rest of you, but I have been, and even more recently have been enthralled and influenced with British humor. I guess it all stems way back to when I was 12 yrs old and found Benny Hill late night on KTVU Ch. 2. I was quickly hooked. So much so that on New Year’s Eve when KTVU would run the Benny Hill marathon show that I would forgo any parties. Not that I was invited to many. 😛
Dennis relax, about the crap I post, I could google NFL 2012 mock draft and there would be 200 different players the Niners would draft. It is a crap shoot at best. what is it 6 weeks till the draft?? hardly time to lock in that draft choice just yet. I post crap just to get you schmucks to make a comment. Like my daddy said, “If you can’t dazzle them with your brilliance, then baffle them with your bullshit”. I have to rely on the latter rather than the former.
As little as some of you value Alex, other teams (Seattle, Washington, and Indy among others) are desperate for decent QB play.
I don’t think Alex wants to leave, and I’d think he’d can his agent before skipping town, but you have to wonder what kind of offers he gets. The crazy thing is, he could very well have a great year with another team.
That would suck big time. Can you imagine the smirk on Pete Caroll’s mug if they beat our asses with Smith @ the Stick?
Dennis prolly have his final breakdown with six lawn chairs hucked into the Bay.
I guess we can forgive you Chuck for trying to bring up a little football once in a while. Plenny a that at Skeeb’s blog for the truly addicted. Minus the Spitwad too. And Dickwad ain’t causing trouble either. I can almost hear myself not thinking. Agree with Kevin above: who the hell knows, never heard of any of these people (playas). You thought I wuz payin’ attention? Fool.
Hell no, football? I’m here to see how many F-bombs I can pack into one post and to try to egg the rest a youse on to greater glory or sumptin’. Especially Dennis. Now that he is housebroken he’s not so bad rally. (insert dumbass smiley here)
I know Flavor’s busy what with the waterboys and the laundry guys reporting and all. He’s surely reverted back to his true identity as beezball geek but I remember when this guy was jacked outta his mind over guys last season. Fact I got two pictures of him (I think) at a bar during the Saints game. I’ll post the first one which is pretty cool late tonight and leave it up as my avatar all day tommorah. You decide. Is this the great Mr. Flavor? Or what?
Dennis posts all manner of vids and I can’t do shit for one lousy picture but smuggle it into my Avatar?
….over da guys…
You have the same settings as Dennis. You should be able to do what he does. Post the addy into the reply box.
Thanks Chuck
But what if I downloaded to hard drive and wanna edit it before posting here?
I’ll try yer advice on sumptin’ simpler like what Big D does. Thanks.
I can’t say with 100% certainty, but I think Chuck might have deleted some of my comments and/or videos from last night. That’s OK. I was good and stinking drunk (still am) and probably had it coming.
I just want you guys to know that when I’m drunk that I, like most, can say say some stupid and regrettable shit. I don’t mean anything by it. I love you and the 49ers. Well. I love the 49ers. Fuck you guys. 😀
Dos Equis!
Despite yer dismal rep Denny I gotta say you are a purdy dang good sport.
And fuck you too, heheh…
Phil, re: the videos…all I do I is go to YouTube and cut and paste the URL.
Without a doubt, the best 49er radio call of all-time. Lon Simmons was unparalleled.
Terrific play, recall watching this game/run in amazement. Thanks!
No, Dennis I have’t deteled anything from you these past few days. Maybe you were too drunk to hit the Enter key.
I wondered too when Kevin said something about “relax D, don’t take my comments so seriously”. But it’s nice to know it was just excessive alcohol not excessive language. Some comfort that. Prolly Southern Comfort?
I was at that game, sitting in the wrong end zone . . .
Story of my life…
Dennis writes “I love the 49ers”
When you say that Denn, you cannot be selective. You just professed your love for A Smith also.
How about a big smooch?
I think he already did that in a drunken stupor!
I’ve kissed lots of people and lots of different things while in a drunken stupor.
But I’ll be goddamned if I’ve ever kissed Alex Smith’s ass.
That’s because you were catching.
LOL
Per Matt Barrows, CJ Spillman signed a 3 year/$6 million contract.
He’s a good gunner and an easy sign.
Good news!
Another tidbit from Barrows: Dashon Goldson parted ways with Drew (the screw) Rosenhaus in his bid to sign a deal with the team.
Hope we keep him. On a lesser note- Spenser changed agents too but to get outta here via trade.
Barrows also has this little nugget:
Game of tag? – Baalke said he’d rather not use the franchise tag to retain a player, but he said it’s an option for the 49ers this offseason. The most likely candidate is safety Dashon Goldson, whose franchise tag number would be a relatively inexpensive $6.2 million.

Golsdon is looking for a big payday. He’ll be pissed if he gets franchised.
More news from Matt B . . . Pierre Garcon turns down offer from the Colts and is looking to see what comes of free agency.
He’d be a nice addition.
Saints Game. It’s not Sir Flavor but good memories all the same
This thing on? Slow weekend. Whoever that Charles guy at TE looked real good in the combines, for what that’s worth.
Just got back online as the coconut Net crashed. Didn’t miss much looks like. Harbaugh likes him some TEs fer sure….
Yeah, saw about 20 minutes of the combine ans he looked very good with his hands.
And WHY would JH change horses in midstream? TEs are what brung him (and us) heah. NOT WRs. Repeat: WRs did not figure in the Stanford O, in the SDU O, the 9er O, already. It’s the TEs.
Test question: WHO were the Stanford WRs? Prolly only Flavor knows this (I sure as hell don’t; Del Mar? Fugget about it) Dennis, NO CHEATIN” dang it!.
This ain’t yer BW WC O but we gotta give JH a minute to show his shit people!
(this is why I refuse to play draft guru on skeeb’s site: It’s all a wild ass guess until the freakin’ brain trust- JH n TB- MAKE Their Calls!)
I know my Stanford WRs. Their best one, Chris Owusu, just ran 4.31 and 4.33 at the combine. The only thing that’s going to scare teams off is his number of concussions throughout his collegiate career.
Forget Stanford. Forget Owusu. Just get a cold one!
Are you sayin’ Owusu is kinda woozy?
AND there is one other reason I ‘don’t play draft guru on skeeb’s site”:
Those freakin’ pros ovah there would howl with laffter and demand my head on a plate!
Fuck them. I like my head right where it is (around heah somewhere)…
BOZOS!
This WR class is interesting to say the least.
Impressed with Hill and Streeter. Both are tall and ran lights out.
Neither has any significant receiving numbers however. Tough call.
I can see us going with 1 of the taller guys even Fleener and adding a smaller slot guy late.
Pick 30 is up in the air for me.
Not sure how to size that up yet. We haven’t been Drafting in that neighborhood for years.
Gonna be interesting to see Baalke maneuver in the bottom of the rds now.
Ditto NJ. Times are changing for the franchise- drafting late in rounds, players on winning teams want more $$, who to retain with long term deal, who to pass on? Baalke franchised Franklin then cut him loose (believe it was TB). He dumped Clements, + the OLB who went to SD (Spikes) and brought in new guys and started a bunch of younger, cheaper guys- Culliver, Bowman. This in a very unsettled year and it worked pretty dang well.
Baalke and HC JH seem to have a lot of trust between them: Baalke trusting that Coach knows what he needs in various positions and Harbaugh trusting that TB will get the guys to fill those slots. Baalke may be following in the Bill W path: Cut ’em before they get too old and too expensive; bring in good young, cheaper talent. Talent recommended by yer scouts, coaches and that You, the GM, evaluated as “good”. We haven’t seen this for 10-15 years?
No wonder we all forgot how good we had it.
Yeah, the point being, Harbaugh figured he had replacements for the decisions he was making. Something the earlier coaching staffs couldn’t seem to grasp. Bowman for Spikes, Soap/McDonald for AF, and Rogers for Clements. The WR situation didn’t work out very well, so yeah, that is a big concern.
New poooooooooooooooooooooost
