The Blues Brothers happens to be one of my favorite movies. The scene in the beginning with the penguin beating Jake and Elwood with the yardstick, the door magically opening and closing, and her generally sinister countenance is pretty much what I was raised on as a Catholic. The New Age folkie, singy Christianity is all new to me, and I’ve pretty much given up on organized religion because of the institutional hypocracy. Thankfully my mom respected my decision when I was 14 to stop going to church. Didn’t keep me out of Catholic school however.
What does this have to do with football? I don’t know. Just that my favorite line in the movie is when Jake and Elwood are trying to track down the old band members. The landlady asks them: “Are you men with the Police?” And Elwood says: “No ma’am. We’re musicians. We’re on a mission from God.” All this talk of Tebow and religion just made me think of that movie.
Today’s game? Well, we are playing the Cardinals. Not the Bishops or the Popes. The Cardinals. Let’s hope we put the fear of God into ’em.
24-7 Niners.
As far as Flav’s deal with these 2 quick games goes, this game will go like the Wash, and Cleve games. Get a lead, and run.
The Balt game? I guess I need to see this one to make that determination. Balt has lost to shitty teams and beaten good ones. A loss here might be good news for the Niners. Still and all, I think the Niners win this one going away. Harbaugh has been money in preparing these guys for games that he considers important. this is a division game. he’s ready.
God damn. The Raiders just gave Minnesota 60 yards on penalties on their opening drive.
The Raiders didn’t learn anything from facing Tebow. Or Minnesota did. Ponder is running bootlegs for big yards so far.
Although the Jets gave them a run for the money, Billick noted that few defenses will be as dumb as the Raiders were against Tebow.
Yeah, that’s what I loved about the Jet game. Ryan flaps his gums about Tebow, and when it comes to crunch time, he runs for 60 yards on the last drive.
Hue Jackson has shown me that he’s got some MAJOR gaps in his game in terms of getting the team ready to play. The penalties continue to mount and that’s not the league having it out for them they are committing the penalties and getting rightly called on them– at least the 2 and 1/2 games I’ve watched this year.
And to let shitty Tebow do that to their defense with that gimmicky college bullshit, and then to still not fix it or be ready for it, is not a good look for Jackson.
I also don’t like Jackson taking credit for the losses and the mistakes–that’s fine if you fix the problems and what’s he gonna do? Blame it on the players? That would go over really well in the locker room. If he keep taking credit for all the bad shit (“that’s on me”) then I’m assuming at some point he would quit if they started losing a lot, right? Isn’t that REALLY what you should do when you are taking credit for a failure and are unable to fix it?
But, it hasn’t happened yet. I don’t expect the Raiders to stay in first place for long, though…….
In a totally different way, he’s as yappy as Ryan. Yap, yap, yap,, it never ends…
his guys are looking good right now, but there is zero way to know what to expect of them even in just one game start to finish..
Shit, the Raiders are all over the place. Palmer looks great at times. Their run game looks great at times. Their defense as well. And their ST. Thing is, So all the rest of the teams in the AFC West are psycho as well. Any one of them could go on a roll and win it. The Chargers or Chiefs, or even the Tebows could pull it out.
Frankly, i think the Raiders are the ones to win the AFC West. Despite their propensity to shoot themeselves in the foot over and over.
16-13 Cardinals in a game so ugly and muddy that it should not be viewed by children under 18 and by women who are or may become pregnant.
Here ya go Denny, you can read. Read this:
http://www.mercurynews.com/49ers/ci_19374610
Thanks. I’ll print it and use it the next time I need to wipe my ass.
I am rooting for The Yapper’s guys though- the way the rest of this division is going, they’re all that stand in the way of the Broncos winning it at 7-9.
Of course “All Day” sprains his ankle vs the Ray-duhs of all teams. Care to venture a guess whose fantasy team he’s on? Tebow needs to pray harder for my team.
TB giving GB all they can handle — and then some.
No such thing as an easy W in the NFL.
GB just scored
TB just answered.
Tampa out threw em’, out rushed ’em, still down nine..
Criminy, the Raiders seem hell-bent on letting Minnesota back into this game. Another 3 penalties for 45 yards.
4 penalties . . .
Their 101st this year.
Pick in the end zone…
Raiders fumble.
Giveit away giveit away giveit away now.
Blaine Gabbert needs a goddamn haircut. He’s getting close to Timmeh territory.
CRAB FUCKIN TREE
They blocked it.
Thank God Del Mar is rooting for the f-ing Cards
This game’s already fugly. Almost as fugly as Chuck’s Junior Prom date.
Almost.
At least I didn’t go with my sister . . .
Willis!!!
WTF was Red Skelton thinking?
P Willy making it tough for the rook Skelton. Our D eats Birds.
BTW is Skelton a redhead?
Another drop for VD.
And Akers misses another. Did I mention this game is fugly?
You called it. But I still say the Cows D coordinator is uglier
Sloppy sloppy. And Jim should have gone for that last 4th down in these conditions.
So far, so not very good . . .
The D is on though . . .
Yep
I gotta watch his fat ass as the Dal-WAsh is pre-empting the Niners cause of OT. Shit…got the sound at least.
Akers made 2 FG, right Del?
John Skelton is 0-5 to start the game with an interception. The 49ers’ receivers, meanwhile, have three drops.
In other words, fugly!
Vernon, Frank look like they’re waking up.
And who picked this guy for his FF team this week? Luckily I’m still ahead in points
Yep D is good tho
Fuck. Too many drops . . .
Another drop. And I don’t mean rain.
What the fuck is up with Edwards? Does he have three drops already? That’s exactly how that pass is thrown.
FUMBLE willis
Edwards hurt wrist
per radio
That wasn’t even a difficult play to get two feet inbounds, VD just wasn’t paying any attention.
Our D is playing like Mother Superior Hellraisers. O like the Blues Bros = not so good
Geez, never thought I’d say this-throw the ball to Crabs…
He just did — 5 yds over his head for an easy TD.
Any other bright ideas?
Yeah, you can shut the fuck up- 5 drops and two easy catches missed. And your’re on the QB for one missed throw.
There’s Kyle W for ya chuck
Another block!
Akers has more misses today than he had all season long.
SP and O not gettin’ ‘er done. Cards hanging around. Luckily the D is awake
K Williams doing it
Again KW
Hey Dennis what’s with Blind Legions? Looks like they haven’t been updated for weeks
I dunno. The mgr. of that team abandoned that team awhile ago.
But of course I still managed to lose to that team two weeks ago.
Only me.
No that’s weird. I’m not going to say anything just in case…
How’s your FF team doing so far this week?
AP hurting his ankle isn’t helping my cause. If only all my FF players could perform as well as Tony Romo.
Just read your ? long after the game, hold on let me check- be right back Del….
Ok I’m leading the deaf, dumb and blind kid “Legions” by 17 and am projected to win by 11 but I’m not counting on anything after I saw how you took the $$ from rob and suddenly he wins : )
I know the Eagles are having issues this year, but how the hell did they lose to these very same Cardinals last week? At home no less.
Good question. I got LeSean McCoy so rootign for him
49ers had six first half possessions and six FG attempts.
I blame the quarterback.
They’re 8-1. I blame the quarterback.
As usual but what about all the drops? This is a complete “offensive” team effort. It’s offensive alright
This is a good wake up call for the Thursday game. They must be looking forward, heads not in this one. O looking like they ate 6 lbs of turkey each.
Most of the problems with the offense today are clearly the many drops and a couple of disinterested efforts from VD.
But I’m sure it wasn’t Alex’s fault that he missed a WIDE open Crabs in the end zone. Or it wasn’t his fault either when he missed an open streaking VD down the left sideline that would have resulted in another TD. Nope. It’s never his fault.
He missed Crabs, the throw to Davisw as fine- VD made no effort on a ball that would have been caught if he raised his hands.
Love ya Del but come on…he’s not perfect but he’s pretty dang good
Crabs looking like he’s into it and K Williams. I never listen to Del Mar about the QB. He’s the Anti-Soft guy on the payroll.
Crab! Nice YAC
Crabby with the stiff arm. Nice. I’m changing my opinion on this dude…
Yes agree. O slowly getting dialed in
Robinson on radio said “Crabtree gives him the Heisman down the sideline”
K Williams TD sweet. Flavor you may have to change your prediction BACK to ‘stomping’ if we stay awake in 2nd half
First good throw Alex has made all day. Bout goddamn time.
Did you give the Bergermeister a bottle of the good shit for the hour of counseling this weeK?
Berger is now claiming to be the “Mayor of the Mountain Town”. Hey I’d vote for him (and Harbaugh for Prez)
VD + Alex. Pretty nice huh Del Mar?
Yet another picture perfect throw.
That was a major league on-target outside shoulder pass right there Smith to VD for the touch. Thing of beauty. Wow….
I will say it again the right coach/teacher has done wonders for Alex
I would appreciate it more if the opposing FF team didn’t have Smith for their QB. That just put Legions ahead. Holy crap I may join Del as losers to this abandoned team
Skelton is killing me too. Man chuck may keep his lead in wins FUCK!
I think I’m voting Harbaugh for president. If he can do this with Alex, we need him to get this country back on track…
Perfect! “Who’s got it better than us?” whole country: NO BODY!!
One of the symptoms of the poor soul with end stage Wernicke–Korsakoff is a total inabilty to recognize what’s happening in front of him. Dennis, it’s too late for you to stop drinking, just try not to hurt yourself.
Maybe I can’t recognize what’s happening in front of me, but I sure the hell can remember you telling us all how the defense would regress with Fangio in charge because defenses always do wherever he goes.
Tell us another magical bedtime story, fairy godmother(fucker).
LOL, hey I missed that one
I said it regresses year by year-never said it would regress this year. His defenses have gotten worse every year in every stop as his tenure has gone on.
Soft’s been coaching SP this week, dang
Dennis how do you like that stat that was just shown, 151 passes in the red zone 0 int’s. Come on Dennis show some Alex love!!
Kevin, you were saying?
INT in the red zone for Sir Alex Sucksalot.
LOL. Man we should have scored
Yeah, 2 in his life now.
No, no that is wrong when you have led your team to a 8-1 season you are not Sucksalot
Oh my I jinks him
Jinxed him Kev!
Beat you to it Phil! Lol
I want an audio review damn it. I had to ask my Filipina wife how to spell JINX. You’re losing a point for spelling my friend
Oops…
This just in.
Cardinal offense suxxxxx…
Say what you will (and you will) ya gotta admit Del Mar is one consistent man!
Del Mar’s early, early opening line for Niners @ Ravens on Thanksgiving night —
Edgar Allan Poe’s -5. Quoth the Del Mar nevermore.
LOL, you are an educated man Del
But I think wrong again my friend
I’d like to see SF do a screen for once that works…
Vic’s defensive unitis got worse every year with Carolina, the Colts, and Houston. I pointed that out several times when he was hired. Maybe you find someone to read this for you, Denny.
http://www.pro-football-reference.com/coaches/FangVi0.htm
So you’re saying past performances always lead to the same outcome next time around?
Tell that to my horses. And while you’re telling my ponies another of your fantastic bedtime stories, better grab my shovel. It’s getting pretty deep around here.
I’m saying it’s not a comfortable trend, Death Threat.
I know Death Threat won’t be able to figger it out, so I’ll make it easier:
“In CAR, his defense went from 7th-best in 1995 to 10th in 1996 to15th in 1997 to 30th in his last season. In IND, Fangio’s unit finished 15th in 1999, then 21st in 2000, then 29th in 2001. Finally, in HOU, the Fang’s Texan defense ended 2002 at #16, 2003 at #31, 2004 at #23, and 2005 at #31 again.” So we’re OK THIS year, as I’ve said many times.
Ted Robinson pissed about the flag on AZ on KO
Now AZ player down and out on next play -Dan Williams
Niners D lost focus there on that long run they gave up after Goldson got tossed. That should have gone for 3, not 33. That TD to Fitzgerald was insane, should have been intercepted …
Yep gotta regroup now on O, D
Alright I understand running uses up the clock, but when you don’t get first downs you are giving the ball back to the other team with time.
See, this is about to be 23-14
They would go for two, Kevin, to make it a one score game
Lol thanks Mike
Mistakes, mistakes, mistakes
Is this the bend don’t break D I keep hearing about
Well, it didn’t break, did it?
Nice that they rested Gore the whole 4th. Good for Dixon to get some reps, he’s running tough…
Yep good calls
I’d like to see Dixon on more short yardage situations.
9-1 coming up men. Ugly but beats a pretty loss or a ‘moral victory’
I think it’s tough when you’re playing a team you know is terrible. Harbaugh played it just fine. They misfired in the first half, totally dominating at the same time. He didn’t try to force it the second half. In the end, nobody cares if you win 23-7, or 35-7, which arguably they should have. One thing, they have to figure out whatinhell broke down in FG blocking in the first half, and one of Lee’s punts almost got blocked, too. That has to be fixed. Looking forward to the Raven’s game. That’s going to be a battle. Looks like Ray Lewis may be on the shelf, that’ll be a plus….
Yeah, they sleep-walked through this one, but this how good teams beat bad ones.
Per the thread, I had 24-7. Not bad. . .
Except for the possible suspension of Goldson, and Miller’s injury, a solid effort. I tell ya though, when Miller went down, the protection got worse. I forgot to see if Anothony Davis came back in after he got hurt.
Hard to be disappointed with any win. I though AD came back in… Also they scored (AZ) right after Goldson got the boot.
Niners of old had a lot of wins like this
Cheers
Death Threat pretends his predictions are not for real, but he’s lying and is now 1 and 9 …one more win and Seattle loss and the division is clinched, BTW. I blame the QB….Rams were officially eliminated today.
Kyle Williams – I like his emergence as a possible possession alternative. Nice option if he keeps improving…
Yep agree and we need a Morgan replacement
Chuckles has been touting Kyle all year, definitely nice to see him get some catches. And the Diva may have had his best game as a pro. I blame the QB…
Shit, Mike. Yer posting my shit before I do. Uncanny . . .
I didn’t see your stuff since this flipped to the 2nd page . . .
Toby Gearhardt is not getting much run in Minny, apparently on the outs with the coach. Maybe Niners could bring him in next season for a look-see, let Rathman work with him…
Yeah, I’ve been touting KW since last year. The dude is small but he can play. I’m glad to see him getting some chances. He doesn’t drop shit if it’s on his hands. Don’t know what the deal is with Edwards, but he seems to still be nursing the knee, and isn’t doing what he was early in the season. He was dropping everything thrown to him. Crabs had a great game. One of his best as a Niner. VD needs to really get his head in the game. There are plays where he just has ZERO awareness as to where he is on the field.
Yeah, Smith missed on some passes, but there were more drops than misses today. He had one bad pass, and that was the pick in the end zone. Even still, 23-7 is fine. This D is doing an outstanding job. Again, though, not enough sacks. the pressure was therem however, and it forced some ill-advised passes. The DBs were on top of shit today.
On to the Thanksgiving bro-on-bro death match thanksgiving-palooza. I guess we’ll be dining on raven instead of the traditional turkey . . . gamey little fuckers, those ravens . . .
That’s because they are carrion.
What sucked about the Smith interception (and it was bad) was that it wiped out a fabulous escape by Smith. He could’ve run, thrown it away or actually found someone open. But all qb’s make mistakes in a game. Smith just makes less than most of them….
If Jackson isn’t the dumbest cocksucker in the NFL, I’ll accept nominees..
crabs 120 yards today !
vernon davis passes brent jones for TD mark !
our defense is #1 in points allowed and run defense !
Chuck– how about an update on the status of all 10 draft picks from 2011? I’m assuming some of those guys are on the practice squad? So far it looks like an awesome draft with home runs in the 1, 3, 4, and 8. Kappy is still an unknown. What about the other 5?
For instance, we traded up to get Kilgore but I don’t see if he’s even on the roster. Does Colin Jones ever play? Any of them on season ending IR? Just curious and thought you’d have the info and save me the time from looking them up one by one….
I’m sure Chuck will do better but Holcomb is on IR. Person and Kilgore are on the roster but have been inactive, Jones, I think, plays some on special teams. He had been waived but then they picked up him back up. Ronald Johnson was cut before the season. He’s gone.
Nice stat in the Chron today
Season Record Head coach Starting QB Finish
1984 9-1 Walsh Montana 15-1, won Super Bowl
1989 9-1 Seifert Montana 14-2, won Super Bowl
1990 10-0 Seifert Montana 14-2, lost NFC title game
1997 9-1 Mariucci Young 13-3, lost NFC title game
That 1984 team was one of the best teams in history . . .
Even without Rice.
Well, that pretty much covers it, Twin. The only guy that didn’t make the grade was the one guy I thought would stick. And that was RJ. Actually Kilgore and Person both looked very good in preseason action on the line. Jones made a play on ST yesterday. Holcomb suffered a torn achilles in preseason. He may be out for a while.

I’ll get into the draft picks later this week . . .
